Today's guest is a Grammy-winning songwriter, global pop architect, and one of the most quietly influential voices shaping modern music across borders. Before the world heard her voice, EJAE spent years training inside the K-pop system — learning discipline, structure, and endurance long before recognition ever arrived. When the system didn't know what to do with her, she pivoted. Slowly. Intentionally. And built a career that would eventually be heard everywhere. Now, as a songwriter whose work spans K-pop, pop, animation, and beyond — and as an artist stepping into her own voice — EJAE represents a different kind of success: one built patiently, shaped by pressure, and defined by longevity rather than speed. And The Writer Is… EJAE.In this episode of And The Writer Is…, EJAE opens up about:The reality of the K-pop training system and what it actually teaches you about discipline and survivalRejection and why her voice didn't fit the moment — and how that shaped her writingLearning to work alone after years inside a rigid systemHow songwriting became a safer, more powerful entry point than performingThe pivot that reframed her career and led to global successAnd much more…Hit the subscribe button and turn on notifications.Every week, we go deep with the most interesting creatives in music.Follow us on socials: @andthewriterisA special thank you to our sponsors…Our lead sponsor, NMPA — the National Music Publishing Association. In this powerful tenth installment of How to Love a Transracially Adopted Person, host April Dinwoodie marks ten years of writing at the intersection of Valentine's Day and Black History Month with a clear and urgent message: love without protection is no longer enough. What began as a reflection on romantic love and adoption has evolved into something deeper — a reckoning with identity, loss, belonging, race, safety, and responsibility. In this episode of Born in June, Raised in April, April examines the incomplete love narrative often attached to adoption and challenges the cultural myth that adoption is a simple, tidy love story. Drawing from her lived experience as a Black woman raised in a white family, she explores how love without truth creates fragility — and how love without protection creates harm. April shares personal reflections on growing up deeply loved, yet not always protected from racial harm. She unpacks the emotional tension between gratitude and grief, belonging and rupture, and calls parents, professionals, and institutions into a more courageous understanding of what real love requires. This episode is both personal and universal — a call-in to anyone who claims to love Black and Brown people, especially Black and Brown children. Because in this moment, protection is not optional. It is the measure of love. Keywords adoption, transracial adoption, protective love, identity, race, belonging, grief, Black identity, family dynamics, racial justice, advocacy, parenting, adoption narrative, loss, responsibility Takeaways Adoption is not a simple love story — it is a complex human story that requires truth. Gratitude and grief can coexist from the very beginning of an adopted person's life. Silence in the face of racial harm is not neutral. Loving a Black or Brown child requires racial awareness and active protection. Protective love requires courage, advocacy, and structural accountability. Love that avoids truth is fragile; love that refuses protection is incomplete. Sound Bites "Love without protection is no longer enough." "Silence is not neutral to a Black child." "Exceptional love is not safe." "Survival skills are not the same as protection." "Protection is not a statement. It is structure." LaTosha Brown has been described by many as a "force of nature," and from the first seconds of this Blue Sky episode, you will understand why. Raised in Selma, Alabama she grew up surrounded by family members who were at the center of the civil rights movement in the United States. Being close to grandparents who spent much of their adult lives unable to vote led her to appreciate this franchise and their example continues to inspire her "get out the vote" work today. LaTosha describes being raised by strong women and not experiencing overt sexism until she ran for office in Alabama, but instead of letting this get her down, she channeled these experiences into the creation of the Southern Black Girls & Women's Consortium. LaTosha Brown also happens to be a talented singer and performer, and she shares this gift with us here as well. Chapters: 00:00 Introducing LaTosha Brown This chapter introduces LaTosha Brown, co-founder of Black Voters Matter and Southern Black Girls and Women's Consortium, highlighting her extensive background as a thought leader and activist. Host Bill Burke also shares his initial encounter with her and praises her infectious sense of hope and optimism. 02:24 Selma's Civil Rights Legacy LaTosha discusses her upbringing in Selma, Alabama, and the profound impact of the Edmund Pettus Bridge, even before she understood its historical significance. She shares deeply personal stories of her mother's experience integrating high school and her aunt's participation in Bloody Sunday, emphasizing the lasting effects of these civil rights efforts on her family and her own development. 11:17 Grandparents, Voting & Justice LaTosha recounts her grandparents' deep reverence for voting, stemming from their long struggle to gain the right to vote in Alabama. She also reflects on her lifelong fascination with power and justice, recalling childhood instances where she instinctively stood up against bullying, illustrating her innate desire to challenge the abuse of power. 21:05 Politics and Challenging Sexism LaTosha discusses her decision not to pursue a political career despite running for office multiple times, explaining that her focus shifted to making a greater impact through organizing and infrastructure building. 30:09 Love, Power & Blackness as a Gift LaTosha explains that Black Voters Matter is founded on Dr. Martin Luther King's philosophy of love implementing justice and power correcting injustice. 39:07 Southern Black Girls & Women's Consortium LaTosha shares the inspiration behind the Southern Black Girls and Women's Consortium, an initiative to reverse underinvestment in Black women and girls in the South. She details the consortium's three core pillars: centering joy through activities like the 'Joy is Our Journey' bus tours, building an ecosystem of support organizations, and creating a new philanthropic model led by Black women and girls, including a partnership with Megan Thee Stallion to address mental health. 44:57 Sources of Optimism LaTosha reveals the three main sources of her unwavering optimism: her faith in a higher power and the miraculous nature of life, the incredible capacity of human beings to create and imagine, and the historical resilience of her ancestors, which allows her to thrive today. She emphasizes that optimism is a choice of focus, deeply rooted in appreciating the wonders of the universe and human existence.

In this episode of the Successful Stylist Academy Podcast, Ambrosia Carey shares key insights from a recent conversation with the Meta and the Instagram team about what is actually working on Instagram right now. This episode breaks down practical social media strategies specifically for hairstylists and salon owners who want to grow their audience, attract better clients, and create content that performs consistently without burnout. Ambrosia discusses the shift from hashtags to keywords, how consistency trains the algorithm, and why Reels and Stories serve very different purposes in your content strategy. She also explains how engagement velocity impacts reach, why trial reels are an underrated feature, and how using Instagram's native tools can improve performance. This episode is designed for hairstylists and salon owners who want clear, realistic guidance on building a sustainable Instagram presence while staying authentic to their voice and brand. If you've ever felt overwhelmed by social media or unsure what actually matters anymore, this conversation will help simplify your approach and give you a strategic path forward. Instagram is shifting toward prioritizing keywords over hashtags, which means hairstylists and salon owners should clearly describe their services and specialties in captions so the algorithm understands who to show their content to. 2. Consistency in posting helps train the Instagram algorithm to recognize your niche and audience, and a predictable posting rhythm often performs better than sporadic bursts of content. 3. Reels are essential for discoverability and attracting new clients, while Stories are better suited for nurturing relationships with the audience you already have. 4. Engagement velocity plays an important role in reach, and responding quickly to comments signals to the algorithm that your content is creating meaningful conversations. 5. Trial reels provide a valuable opportunity to test new content ideas and formats before sharing them with your full audience. 6. Using Instagram's native tools such as text overlays, captions, audio, and in-app editing features can improve both content quality and overall reach. 7. Carousel posts remain a powerful format because they retain viewer attention longer and allow stylists to communicate educational and high-value content more clearly. 8. Content performs best when it answers real questions and solves real problems for your audience rather than simply following trends. 9. Authenticity and clarity in messaging are more effective long-term strategies than chasing viral trends that do not align with your brand. 10. Regularly reviewing your content performance allows hairstylists and salon owners to refine their social media strategy and make better decisions about what to create next. Show Notes In this episode Ambrosia shares insights from a direct conversation with the Meta and Instagram team about how the platform is evolving and what hairstylists need to understand in order to stay relevant and visible. Listeners will learn why Instagram is becoming more keyword-driven, how posting consistency influences reach, and how stylists can simplify their content strategy without feeling overwhelmed. This conversation also covers the difference between Reels and Stories, the role of engagement and response time, and how using Instagram's built-in tools can improve results. This episode is especially helpful for hairstylists and salon owners who want to build a stronger online presence, attract ideal clients, and grow their business through intentional content creation. How much can what you eat really influence your heart health — and how quickly can you improve your blood pressure or cholesterol through diet? In this episode of Health Matters, host Courtney Allison sits down with cardiologist Dr. Sean Mendez of NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital to break down the real connection between food and cardiovascular wellbeing. They explore what your health numbers mean — from blood pressure ranges to LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, and the emerging marker ApoB — and how these values signal current or future risk. Dr. Mendez explains how dietary shifts can lower LDL cholesterol by 3 to 15 percent and reduce blood pressure by several points, even without medication. He also discusses salt sensitivity, the impact of saturated fats and processed foods, and why soluble fiber, healthy fats, and whole foods can play a powerful role in improving cholesterol. The conversation dives into the DASH diet and the Mediterranean diet, outlining how each works, what they emphasize, and the evidence behind their ability to reduce blood pressure and overall cardiovascular risk. Dr. Mendez offers practical tips for getting started and key lifestyle factors that are essential for heart health. Whether you're hoping to lower your numbers, prevent future heart issues, or simply make more informed choices at the grocery store, this episode provides clear, accessible guidance on building a heart‑healthy way of eating. The 2024 running back class is considered one of the worst in recent memory. Injuries have significantly impacted the top running backs in the class. Metrics such as big time run rate and yards per route run are crucial for evaluating running backs. Jeremiah Love is widely regarded as the RB1 in this class. Judarian Price and Jonah Coleman are contenders for the RB2 spot. Mike Washington is a rising star with solid metrics. Emmett Johnson is a controversial prospect with volume stats but lacks efficiency. Efficiency is more important than volume for running backs in the NFL. There are several sleeper picks in this class worth considering. The running back class is heavily dependent on landing spots and draft capital. Infidelity is one of the most talked-about — and least honestly discussed — parts of modern relationships. In this episode of Dating Intelligence, I sit down with author Teresa J. Conway, who shares her personal journey into the world of affairs and what she's learned from years inside it. We explore the psychology behind cheating, the emotional needs people often struggle to admit, and why relationships rarely fail for the reasons couples think they do. We also discuss Ashley Madison, online secrecy, communication breakdowns, and the spectrum between emotional and physical betrayal. Rather than sensationalizing the topic, this conversation looks at infidelity as a human behavior — one tied to desire, avoidance, attachment, and unmet needs. Whether you're single, dating, married, or recovering from betrayal, this episode will challenge assumptions and give you a deeper understanding of relationship dynamics most people never openly talk about. This is not about encouraging cheating — it's about understanding why it happens. The Traitors S4 Finale Preview Welcome to RHAP’s coverage of ALL the Traitors iterations from around the world, including New Zealand, Australia, and Canada. The Traitors US is a high-stakes reality competition set in a secluded castle, where contestants must work together to complete challenges and earn a prize pot—while rooting out the secret traitors hidden among them. The Traitors Season 4 finale is just around the corner, and Rob Cesternino, Pooya, and guest Mike Bloom dig into all the shifting alliances, metagame shake-ups, and Faithful-versus-Traitor strategies shaping this pivotal episode. With the game at a crossroads, the hosts unpack how the shifting dynamics among reality TV stars, non-gamers, and Housewives set the stage for an unexpected endgame. The discussion covers the subtle evolution of the cast, and how outsider groups reach the finale while Survivor and Big Brother veterans get picked off. Rob shares his perspective as a recent cast member, weighing in on how alliances like the “Dagger Six” and the coalition of more introverted players fly under the radar, building unique routes to the end. The group also explores how Rob Roush has navigated group loyalty, traitor recruitment, and critical late-game decisions without burning his key relationships. Highlights from their conversation include: The metagame's impact on targeting specific groups (gamers, Housewives, non-gamers) and how this shapes who reaches the finale Rob Roush's alliance maneuvering—balancing connections with both lower-profile coalitions and the larger “Dagger Six” The strategy and risks behind traitor recruitment, including why Rob picks Eric over other potential options for a final stretch partnership How Faithfuls should approach late-game votes when strong duos like Johnny and Tara could dominate the ending A lively debate comparing Rob Roush's gameplay to Cirie Fields, sizing up their disarming social strategies and influence in the castle Will Rob's partnership choices and social game secure him the win, or could Faithfuls splinter the duos before the fire of truth? Dive in as the hosts break down the possible paths to victory, weigh All-Star returnee picks, and tease what explosive reveals the reunion might hold. After years of thinking love wasn't in the cards, Golden Globe, Emmy and Academy Award winning actor Halle Berry stopped chasing and that's exactly when everything changed. In this live conversation from Eudemonia, Halle and I get into what it really takes to have a loving connection and incredible sex in your 50s, why she thought her partner gave her herpes (spoiler: it was perimenopause), and how becoming whole on her own finally attracted the relationship she'd always wanted. From faking multiple orgasms in her 20s to now having no problem telling her partner exactly what she needs, Halle shares why the "zero fucks to give" era might just be the sexiest time of a woman's life. She also opens up about misdiagnosis, advocating for women's health in Washington, and why she's throwing herself a "siesta" party when she officially hits menopause in March. Don't forget to watch the full video podcast on YouTube! In this episode, you'll learn: • Why chasing a relationship kept Halle attracting the wrong partners—and what shifted when she finally prioritized herself • How vaginal dryness got misdiagnosed as herpes and Sjögren's disease, and what that taught her about the gaps in women's healthcare • The permission slip every woman needs to stop performing in bed and start asking for what actually feels good More Halle Berry: • Instagram • Respin by Halle Berry Eudēmonia Summit: • Website More Dr. Emily: • Shop With Emily! If you think selling is about scripts, closing tricks, or overcoming objections… you've been lied to. Because here's the truth: people don't buy because you said the right thing—they buy because they feel like it. So if that's true, the real question isn't how do I sell harder…it's how do I make someone want to buy—without pressure, persuasion, or chasing? In this video, I'm breaking down the #1 sales tactic that lets you sell literally anything—and why most entrepreneurs completely miss it. Summary In this episode, Ali Damron discusses the complexities of hormonal imbalances, particularly in women experiencing perimenopause. She emphasizes that while hormones play a significant role in various symptoms, lifestyle factors such as chronic stress, self-criticism, and lack of boundaries are often overlooked. Ali explains how the nervous system's state can impact overall health, digestion, and emotional well-being. She advocates for a holistic approach to healing that includes understanding the nervous system, managing stress, and practicing self-compassion. The conversation concludes with practical strategies for improving health and well-being. Takeaways Many women blame their hormones for various symptoms. Lifestyle factors often contribute more to hormonal issues than hormones themselves. Chronic stress can lead to a state of fight-or-flight, affecting overall health. The nervous system plays a crucial role in digestion and hormone regulation. Self-compassion is essential for managing stress and improving health. Healing the nervous system involves doing less, not more. Creating a sense of safety in life can improve health outcomes. Practical strategies for stress management can enhance well-being. Understanding the connection between stress and physical symptoms is vital. Consulting with a healthcare provider can help address unique health concerns. sound bites "My hormones are a mess!" Have you ever walked out of a doctor's office feeling judged instead of cared for?If you've ever chosen a healing path that didn't match what your doctor recommended, you may know exactly what doctor shaming looks like. Host Dr. Katie Deming names what so many patients feel but rarely talk about, and explains why it happens in the first place.Sometimes it's blunt, like a doctor implying you're a bad parent for skipping a certain treatment. Other times it's subtle, a colder tone, a sudden disconnection, or even conditional care when you're labeled “noncompliant.”Chapters:00:04:30 - When Your Doctor Changes Toward You00:07:00 - Shame Is a Fear Tactic00:08:00 - Why Doctors Are Wired This Way00:10:13 - The System Needs Predictability00:12:06 - Doctors Aren't the Enemy00:13:21 - What Shame Does to Your Nervous System00:18:30 - The Breath Technique That Calls Your Power Back00:21:21 - The System's Discomfort Is Not Your VerdictDoctors go through decades of conditioning that rewards certainty and compliance. Recently, Theologian Dr. Darrell Bock gave a seminar to church leaders and pastors on engaging the culture and cultural intelligence. Slides from his presentation were posted on social media and, at face value, the verbiage is... problematic. Dr. Tim Stratton and Josh Klein are joined by Reverend Dr. Tom Barnes to discuss why this is concerning and to break down what we can and should do about it. Full Disclosure: None of the three were at the event, so this commentary is meant to be directed towards the public-facing verbiage that could either a) be easily misconstrued, b) be misremembered in our current culture moment by people in attendance and applied using definitions based on critical theory rather than a biblical worldview, and/or c) were taught poorly in the first place and no explanation or nuance would make it better. Are you suffering from "crisis fatigue"? In this solo episode of Eyes Wide Open, Nick Thompson shares a raw look at navigating the modern media landscape and provides a survival guide for staying grounded in a world that feels like it's constantly on fire. In this deeply personal episode, Nick explores the psychological toll of our crisis-saturated media landscape. Drawing from his own experiences with intense public scrutiny following Love is Blind, he breaks down the brain's response to information overload and why constant "doom-scrolling" is a recipe for burnout. This episode provides practical strategies for setting digital boundaries, reframing global empathy into local action, and understanding that protecting your mental health is, in itself, a powerful act of activism. Learn some strategies on how to keep your eyes wide open without losing your peace of mind. Key Takeaways & Revelations - Digital Boundaries: Why "silencing notifications" and using "mute functions" are essential tools for reclaiming your attention and reducing anxiety. - The "News Bucket" Strategy: How to slow down your news diet with long-form content instead of the high-cortisol cycle of short-form social media. - Awareness vs. Burnout: Recognizing the fine line between being an informed citizen and being paralyzed by global helplessness. - Micro-Activism: Why shifting your focus from global chaos to local community engagement is the ultimate cure for "compassion fatigue." - Self-Care as Strategy: Understanding that you cannot effectively fight for a better world if your own internal world is in shambles. "Why are we paying $10,000 for a $30 drug?"My guest this week is Pramod John, a former Silicon Valley tech entrepreneur who entered the healthcare space to tackle the largest economic problem in the country: skyrocketing healthcare costs. Pramod quickly realized that healthcare's dysfunction is actually not a technology problem - it is a deeply ingrained problem with economic incentives. In this episode, we dive into the murky waters of Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) and why the traditional model is designed to drive up costs rather than lower them. We discuss the shocking statistics of drug spend (where 2% of people account for 55% of the costs), why FDA approval doesn't always mean a drug is effective (using the infamous Alzheimer's drug as an example), and the implications of recent fiduciary lawsuits like the one against J&J.Pramod explains how we can bring common sense back to healthcare by treating drugs like any other consumer purchase. By utilizing an "open market" drug management model, he argues that we can effectively replace traditional PBMs with transparent transaction processing software - saving plans 30% to 50% without relying on restrictive formularies or rebate games. Tune in this week for a clear roadmap for how to actually fix the irrational economics of our healthcare system.Thank you to our 2026 sponsors!ParetoHealth: ParetoHealth empowers midsize employers with a long-term solution to reduce volatility and lower overall health benefits costs.
