You know that good feeling you get at certain restaurants, where it just seems everyone is operating like a family? It's rare because it's a hard culture to cultivate, but it's intentional and you feel it at Good Evans, one of Nebraska's fastest growing breakfast spots. Angie Padgett (Executive Chef) and Tamra Johnston (Chief Marketing Officer) joined me to talk about how Good Evans cultivates that familial feeling, put together a menu that's comfortable for IG-loving teenagers as well as grandparents, and crafted a culture that has allowed it to expand to five locations (including two in Omaha) in less than a decade. This week, Jake and Bob explore how inner healing is rooted within the tradition of the Catholic Church. Drawing from the Catechism, they discuss the three expressions of prayer—vocal, meditative, and contemplative—and how each form is incorporated within the inner healing process. Far from being a psychological exercise, inner healing comes from a deeply relational encounter with Jesus and restores the whole person so we might live in deeper communion with Him.   Key Points: Inner healing prayer is deeply rooted in the Church's tradition The Catechism identifies three key expressions of prayer: vocal, meditation, and contemplative. These are all at the heart of the inner healing process Healing comes from an encounter with Jesus and is not a result of a mere completion of steps  When we pray, we need to engage our hearts instead of simply repeating words God is always present when we pray, even when we cannot hear His voice Inner healing often requires us to patiently cooperate with God's timing. He knows more about the mysteries and vulnerabilities of our hearts than we do   Catechism Paragraphs Mentioned in the Episode: Vocal Prayer: CCC 2700 Meditation: CCC 2705 - 2706, 2708,  Contemplative Prayer: CCC 2709 - 2710, 2716    Connect with Restore the Glory:  Instagram: @restoretheglorypodcast  Twitter: @RestoreGloryPod Facebook: Restore the Glory Podcast   Never miss out on an episode by hitting the subscribe button right now! Why This Episode Matters:DJ Grumble's story flips the myth of the “tortured full-time artist” on its head. A medicinal chemist by training, he treats his beat-making with the same rigor as a lab experiment, balancing structure and spontaneity while managing a startup, research deadlines, and a thriving music catalog. His journey shows that creativity and discipline aren't opposites; they're two sides of the same molecule.Explore the Stories Behind the BeatsLove diving into the stories behind the beats? Subscribe to ProducerHead and join producers and creatives exploring the ideas, habits, and inspiration that drive great music.Who is DJ Grumble:Producer, DJ, and chemist. Known for a massive catalog of soulful, sample-based beats, DJ Grumble built a cult following through SoundCloud, YouTube, and Bandcamp. DJ Grumble has produced tracks for RIAA-certified gold and platinum artists such as Ari Lennox and Surfaces, and his work has been featured in TV shows, movies, and video games, all while holding a PhD-level background in nano-medicine and now serving as co-founder of a cancer biotech startup in the Bay Area. What We Dive Into:* Parallels between scientific experimentation and sampling* Managing expectations and finding work-life balance* How to release fearlessly and build a catalog that compounds* The “quantity vs. quality” myth and the power of consistency* Business 101 for producers: PROs, SongTrust, and royalties* Collaboration, taste, and why addition is often subtraction* Merging two worlds: creativity and chemistryThree Key Takeaways:* Consistency > Perfection: Grumble's catalog exploded when he stopped over-editing and started releasing — one beat every week. He learned that fans, not artists, decide what hits.* Science and Sound Share the Same DNA: Sampling and chemistry both start with raw materials and transform them through experimentation. Grumble's scientific mindset fuels his musical process.* Manage Your Expectations: Whether it's the lab or the music business, results take time. Success compounds slowly — and you can only collect on your creativity if you understand the systems that pay you. Before You Go:What's your version of the “lab?” The place where you put in steady, focused work that no one sees? Take a page from Grumble's book: set aside even 30 minutes a day to experiment, release without fear, and let time and repetition refine your craft.Chapters:0:00 – Intro0:27 – From chemistry to beats2:12 – Parallels between science and sampling5:48 – Balancing lab work and creativity7:53 – Quantity vs. quality mindset9:21 – Sharing music fearlessly13:31 – Free beats and virality14:22 – Optimism and managing expectations19:37 – Business 101: royalties, PROs, and SongTrust28:00 – Catalog strategy and viral growth32:26 – Collaboration and cross-pollination35:22 – Being objective and learning from failure40:28 – Shortcut tools, taste, and Tracklib50:03 – Can you teach taste?53:25 – Advice for upcoming producers55:07 – Motivation, obligation, and gratitude57:09 – Upcoming projects and vinyl reissues58:43 – Favorite gear and plugins1:21:04 – Habits that sabotage creativity1:25:12 – Work-life balance and “palate cleanse”1:28:10 – What people misunderstand about the industry1:30:48 – Movies, books, and advice1:39:33 – Books every producer should read1:42:34 – Integrating both lives: lab + music1:46:22 – Knowing when a beat is finished1:49:20 – Closing thoughtsList of References from the Interview:Songs / Artists:* MF DOOM & Madlib – Madvillainy* J Dilla – Donuts* Pete Rock – PetestrumentalsBooks / Authors / Podcasts:* Perennial Seller by Ryan Holiday* Atomic Habits by James Clear* Scratch (documentary by Doug Pray)* Roald Dahl* Hatchet by Gary PaulsenProducts / Gear:* Player Pro by Quadmation (DAW)* Pioneer CDJ-800* Pioneer DVJ-X1* Casio RZ-1 Sampler* Tracklib* North Pole VST* Room Machine 844* RubyTube pluginsConnect with DJ Grumble:* YouTube: @dj_grumble* Instagram: @djgrumble* Spotify: DJ Grumble* Apple Music: DJ GrumbleConnect with Toru:* Website: torubeat.com* Instagram: @torubeat* YouTube: @torubeat* Spotify: Toru* Apple Music: ToruCredits:This episode was co-produced, engineered and edited by Matthew Diaz. Phil Green has had a successful career in music and sports.  For what he describes as his "third act," Phil is now overseeing Follow the Music, a nonprofit in his hometown of Oakland, California.   Follow the Music provides artist development, booking and management services to young artists — to shine a light on their talents and bring visibility to the programs that helped develop them.     Chapters: 00:00 Introducing Phil Green and Follow the Music  Bill Burke introduces Phil Green, co-founder of Follow the Music, an organization dedicated to fostering young musical talent in Oakland. Phil's extensive background in sports and music, including managing Grammy winner Fantastic Negrito, led him to create this non-profit.  02:05 From Ronnie Lott's Idea to Follow the Music  Phil Green shares how a conversation with NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott about a new venue sparked the idea for Follow the Music.   04:32 Fantastic Negrito's Journey and Industry Lessons  Phil recounts the incredible comeback story of Fantastic Negrito, who achieved Grammy success at 50 after a major label dropped him and a severe accident. This experience highlighted the music industry's challenges and the importance of artists finding their unique voice, shaping Phil's current work with young people.  08:33 The Genesis and Mission of Follow the Music Phil elaborates on the founding of Follow the Music, emphasizing its mission to help young artists follow their true passions and express their authentic selves.   11:57 Supporting Young Artists and Community  Phil explains how Follow the Music collaborates with institutions like the Oakland School for the Arts to develop and showcase young musicians. By leveraging his connections, Phil creates high-visibility opportunities for these artists at major festivals and sporting events, helping them navigate the competitive music landscape.  15:15 Inspiring Hope Through Youthful Energy  Phil describes Follow the Music as more than just artist development; it's about connecting the Bay Area to support music education and celebrating the vibrant spirit of young artists. He believes their courage and vulnerability offer hope and inspiration in a divided world, marking his 'third act' dedicated to empowering the next generation.  23:17 Oakland Rising at the Kennedy Center  Phil shares the powerful story of Oakland Rising's performance at the Kennedy Center, where the group faced a dilemma due to prior boycotts. Half the band chose to perform as a trio, displaying incredible grace and mutual support despite differing opinions, delivering a stunning and emotionally charged performance.  27:39 Resilience and Reinvention in Oakland  Phil addresses the challenges faced by Oakland, including the departure of major sports teams, but emphasizes the city's pride and resilience. He expresses optimism about the burgeoning arts and culture scene and new community-focused sports teams like the Oakland Ballers, which are rebuilding the city's vibrant spirit from the ground up.  31:16 Music's Transformational Power and Life Skills  Phil clarifies that Follow the Music's primary goal isn't just to produce professional musicians but to illuminate the transformational power of music for personal growth. He highlights how music education, much like sports, teaches discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, filling a vital gap in youth development.  36:18 Future Vision and Lasting Impact  Phil sees Follow the Music as a model for other cities, aiming to uplift existing music education programs rather than replicate them. He reflects on the deep personal reward of helping young people navigate the future through music, emphasizing that the impact on their lives has far surpassed his initial expectations.

"You Are Welcome": One Woman's Experience with Solo Travel, Food Adventures, and the Kindness of Strangers | Conversations with a Chiropractor Episode Description What actually happens when you travel the world alone—on purpose? In this warm, high-signal episode, Dr. Stephanie Wautier sits down with a dear friend, a seasoned solo traveler who's collected stories from San Francisco to Morocco, Palau, Vietnam, and Greece. You'll hear how one spontaneous weekend changed everything, why a great meal can open doors, and how culture, safety, and serendipity weave together when you give yourself permission to go. She shares her simple starter plan for first-time solo travelers, the "prop" that makes dining alone easier, and the mindset that turns awkward moments into invitations. From sharing a table with strangers who became friends to a full picnic waiting atop an Atlas Mountain summit, this conversation is a reminder that most people, most places, are better than the headlines. If you have ever said yes to God and then wondered why everything suddenly got harder, this episode is for you. We often discuss purpose, calling, and obedience, but not nearly enough about the cost that accompanies them. The truth is, a refining process occurs after your 'yes'. The confusion, the pushback, and the discomfort are not signs that you missed it. They are often the evidence that God is shaping you for the very thing you prayed for. In this conversation, I share the unspoken side of your calling, the parts no one prepares you for. You will learn how to recognize when it is your flesh resisting versus when God is redirecting, and how to walk through the refining fire without losing faith in the process. If you are in that place of tension, called but questioning, obedient but weary, this message will remind you that you are not alone and that there is purpose in the pressure. In this special live episode of the Shift AI Podcast recorded at Seattle AI Week, Dr. Andre Alfred, who leads threat operations and security for Google Cloud's Fortune 500 customers, joins host Boaz Ashkenazy for an eye-opening conversation about the intersection of AI and cybersecurity. With his remarkable journey from high school help desk operator to earning his PhD and leading security operations at Microsoft, Oracle, and Google, Andre brings a unique perspective on protecting critical infrastructure in an era where adversaries have access to the same powerful AI tools as defenders. From data poisoning threats that could compromise healthcare diagnostics to the challenges of securing physical infrastructure like water systems and power grids, Andre shares what keeps him up at night and why two-factor authentication isn't optional anymore. The conversation explores how AI is transforming both offensive and defensive capabilities in cybersecurity, why the next generation of jobs will be defined by leaders rather than technology, and Andre's commitment to visibility as an African American leader in tech. Through his scholarship program at Western Governors University, Andre is opening pathways for the next generation of cybersecurity and healthcare professionals. If you're wondering about the real security threats we're not thinking about—and why the future of work requires "more focus"—this conversation offers crucial insights from someone defending some of the world's most critical systems.Chapters[00:00] Introduction and Boaz's Journey to the Shift AI Podcast [02:37] Andre's Background and Role at Google Cloud Security [03:44] The Non-Traditional Path: From Help Desk to PhD [06:25] The Decision to Return to College and Transform Your Career [08:41] From Capital One to Microsoft to Google [12:03] What It's Like to Wake Up Every Morning in Threat Operations [14:21] The Bittersweet Reality: When Innovation Can Be Weaponized [15:31] Data Poisoning and Healthcare: The Threat We're Not Thinking About [18:37] Teaching Kids to Question What They See Online [20:06] Physical Infrastructure Vulnerabilities and Social Engineering [24:09] The Future of AI and Cybersecurity in 2030 [26:24] Creating Jobs of the Future Through Education [29:41] The Intersection of Cybersecurity and Healthcare [32:29] Leaders Must Define the Next Jobs, Not Let Technology Define Them [33:36] Being Visible as an African American in Tech [36:11] Two Words for the Future: "More Focus"Connect with Dr. Andre Alfred LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/aoalfred/Connect with Boaz Ashkenazy LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/boazashkenazy Email: info@shiftai.fmSpecial thank you to Western Governers University for hosting and sponsoring this live episode at the Labor Temple in Seattle WA during AI Week.

Imani (52) and Michael (65) have been married for 24 years—and they're drowning in nearly $126,000 of consumer debt despite earning over $250,000 a year. Imani, a disciplined attorney who tracks every dollar, feels trapped by Michael's unchecked spending on electronics and his laid-back approach to money. She dreams of travel, freedom, and a life that finally feels generous, while he insists everything's fine as long as the bills get paid. With resentment growing and Imani nearing her breaking point, Ramit challenges them to face the truth: Can they pay off their debt, rebuild trust, and start enjoying life again—or are they too stuck in old patterns to change? A special thanks to Facet for sponsoring this episode. Right now, Facet is waiving their $250 enrollment fee for new annual members. And if you invest and maintain $5,000 within your first 90 days, they'll add $300 to your brokerage account. Head to facet.com/ramit to see which membership—Core, Plus, or Complete—is right for you. (Ramit is not a member of Facet, and he has an incentive to endorse Facet as he has an ongoing fee based contract for cash compensation based on this endorsement. Sadie and Emma go way back, and in today's convo, Emma opens up about a powerful moment tied to a photo they once took together — and the wave of online bullying that followed. She remembers the world feeling like it stopped as she read all the hateful comments about “the girl in the middle.” In the days after, Emma had a choice: keep torturing herself by reading every comment and believing the lies, or lean into what she knew was true about who she is as a child of God. Her strength and wisdom seriously shine through in this conversation with Sadie. Emma reminds us that we all have our own “girl in the middle” moment — so when that time comes, what will we choose? To boldly live out our faith in the love of God, or to stay in the comfort zone?
