The Soapbox Shenanigans podcast is a refreshing and uplifting show that features positive and down-to-earth black women sharing their thoughts and experiences. This podcast is truly a gem, as it provides a sense of connection and camaraderie, making the listener feel like they are chatting with their girlfriends. The hosts bring an infectious energy to each episode, making it impossible not to be engaged and entertained.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is its relatability. The hosts share stories, struggles, and triumphs that many black women can resonate with. It creates a sense of solidarity and empowers listeners to embrace their identities and take up space unapologetically. The conversations are thought-provoking, covering a wide range of topics such as career advancement, relationships, self-care, and societal issues. Each episode offers valuable insights that can inspire personal growth and ignite meaningful discussions.

Another standout feature of The Soapbox Shenanigans podcast is its lively nature. The hosts have a natural chemistry that radiates through the audio waves, making it an absolute joy to listen to. Their banter is filled with humor, wit, and authenticity, creating an engaging atmosphere that never fails to put a smile on the listener's face. The episodes are well-paced, ensuring that there is never a dull moment.

While there are numerous positive elements to this podcast, one potential drawback is the lack of diversity in perspectives. While the experiences shared by the hosts are undoubtedly valuable, it would be beneficial to hear from a broader range of voices within the black community. Including guest speakers or inviting listener questions could provide additional insights and enrich the overall listening experience.

In conclusion, The Soapbox Shenanigans podcast is an absolute must-listen for anyone seeking inspiration, empowerment, and genuine camaraderie. The hosts bring an infectious energy that makes each episode feel like a conversation among friends. With relatable discussions and thought-provoking topics, this podcast is a fantastic way to start the day. Despite minor room for improvement in terms of diversity, this podcast is undoubtedly a valuable and enjoyable listen.

Mental wellness is a topic that a lot of us are uncomfortable talking about. We tend to shy away from it, act like it's not a problem and don't want to walk in our truth. Unfortunately, there is a stigma that we all have to deal with that says seeking support for mental wellness is problematic and something "crazy" people do or equates to you being broken. In this episode we're going to dive into a conversation with Travis Hutchins of TH Talks Podcast surrounding men's mental wellness and try to tackle the question - what can men gain from therapy? Some of the topics that we'll touch on are: Suicide preventions/statistics on male suicides. 4 times as many men die by suicide than women 6 million men in the US with depression Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for men under the age of 45 Toxic masculinity - the culture and lived experiences that have led to men unable to express emotions. Women not giving men space to be vulnerable. Share their emotions, vent, talk out situations, or God forbid cry. Men directing their unsolved emotions / anger towards others (usually romantic partners) Defining what is means to be a man in today's society The issue with accessibility for therapy and mental health Finding a therapist Risk Factors for Mental Health Disorders Social Isolation Substance Abuse, Unemployments, Military Trauma Single - Breaks up / Childhood Trauma What people can do to help with men's mental health Build a support system Allow people to communicate without weaponizing their emotions Encourage mindfulness/ healthier lifestyle choices Reshaping the conversation about mental health and seeking treatment Sources for Statistics: https://www.mhanational.org/infographic-mental-health-men https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/leading-causes-of-death-in-men#The-wider-view-of-male-health https://www.nami.org/NAMI/media/NAMI-Media/Infographics/NAMI_Suicide_2020_FINAL.pdf
