In light of the current protests to demand justice for Black lives, it is important for us as hosts to have a candid, meaningful conversation about the Black Lives Matter movement. We discuss how our awareness of BLM has changed over time, social media response and performative activism, the commodification of social movements by corporations, and what effective allyship to the Black community looks like for us as Asian Americans. We are continuing to educate ourselves and think of ways we can work to dismantle anti-blackness in the many facets of our lives. We hope this episode inspires even a few listeners to have those sometimes uncomfortable, but necessary conversations about race.
