A financier and sports leader, Weisel is both Senior Managing Director and a Director of Stifel, a diversified global wealth management and investment banking company. Previously Thom was Chairman and CEO of Thomas Weisel Partners Group, Inc. and Montgomery Securities, one of Silicon Valley's famed "Four Horsemen". Thom helped build the financial infrastructure that fueled Silicon Valley's explosive rise, often referred to as "Wall Street West". He led the financings behind companies that transformed medicine, semiconductors, and the internet itself. In addition, Weisel was responsible for raising the iconic KLEINER PERKINS' first venture fund. Along the way, he also exercised his leadership skills toward something entirely different and arguably just as consequential: rebuilding the governance and funding models behind U.S. skiing and U.S. cycling—helping save those sports and elevate American athletes on the world stage. Growing up, Weisel was a five-time U.S. National Junior Champion in Speed Skating, ranked Third in the 1959 U.S. Olympic Trials for the 500 meter in Speed Skating. He remained athletically active the rest of his life, including ranking Third overall in the 1982 U.S. National Master Alpine Championship, in '85 he launched the Montgomery Cycling Team, four years later he won 2 Gold Medals in 1989 Cycling Kilo & Sprint in the World Master Games in Finland, the following two years he picked up 5 more Gold Medals and a 6th Gold in World Cup Masters Cycling in Kilo in 1991, the same year he was named Masters Athlete of the Year for U.S. Cycling. In 1999, he received the U.S. Ski Association Julius Blegen Award, its highest honor... his athletic achievements continued and in 2018 he was inducted in the U.S. Ski Hall of Fame.... all while pursuing advanced college degrees and innovative business building and exceptional entrepreneurial leadership. Thom Weisel's is a story of ambition and resilience; of building institutions, losing them, and building again. It's about competition, yes…but it is also about patience, stewardship, and meaning. In dieser Folge spricht Maxine mit der wundervollen Lisa, die viele Jahre unter abendlichen Essanfällen, ständigem Überessen und tiefen Selbstzweifeln gelitten hat.. ohne zu wissen, dass sie mitten in einer Essstörung steckte. Erst als ihre Therapeutin sie direkt darauf ansprach und ihr Soulfood empfahl, begann sie zu verstehen, dass das, was sie für „fehlende Disziplin" hielt, in Wahrheit Ausdruck eines tiefen inneren Schmerzes war. In Soulfood durfte sie diesem inneren Kampf auf den Grund gehen. Heute lebt sie ein völlig anderes Leben. Sie ist frei von Essanfällen und sagt "Essen hat die Macht verloren mir als einziges ein gutes Gefühl zu geben". Sie lebt im Frieden mit ihrem Körper und hat mittlerweile 13 Kilo ganz natürlich abgenommen. Sie ist dankbar für die tiefe Verbindung zu sich selbst und ihren Gefühlen. Sie teilt, dass sie sich jetzt liebevoll halten kann, vor allem in Momenten, die früher Auslöser für Essanfälle waren. La iniciativa forma parte del programa “Noviembre, Mes Solidario”, impulsado por el Área de Atención al Mayor del Instituto Municipal de Servicios Sociales y la Fundación Municipal de Deportes. Durante todo el mes se celebrarán otras actividades con fines solidarios y culturales. Entre ellas, la Campaña Solidaria de la Leche, que recogerá donaciones para el Banco de Alimentos; la Ruta a Morera del 18 de noviembre; el Concierto Benéfico de la Tuna de Mayores, el día 19, también a favor del Banco de Alimentos; y la Ruta Solidaria del Kilo, el 26 de noviembre, en la que cada participante aportará un kilo de alimentos no perecederos.

251106PC Fastentagebuch – 4. TagMensch Mahler am 06.11.2025 Eigentlich stand im Programm Fastenwandern. Und wir haben das auch reichlich getan, soweit es der vom Fasten ausgezehrte Körper erlaubt. Aber wir gehen trotzdem um Ober-Allgäuer Seen. Gestern waren wir auf alten Burgruinen bei Pfronten. Blich auf die überzuckerten Berge und Schloss Neuschwanstein. Wunderschön! Aber noch schöner ist die Gruppe. Wir sind 11 – plus Fastenanleiterin und Yogalehrerin. In so einer Woche lernt man sich kennen, tauscht Lebensgeschichten aus. Alte Journalistenregel: nichts interesseiert einen Menschen mehr als ein Mensch. Die Spanne reicht von 46 bis 72. Unter anderem Krankenschwestern, eine Bankerin, eine Unternehmensberaterin. Wir immer bei solchen Veranstaltungen sind die Männer in der Unterzahl. 3:8. Einer ist Architekt und Stadtplaner im Ruhestand und dann sind da noch 2 Theologen. Mein Kollege ist Kommanditist bei Radio Paradiso. Die Welt ist klein.Beim Wandern, beim Yoga, während der Trink- und Suppenpausen lernt man sich kennen. Und es ist interessant, wie offen man in dieser für Körper und Geist extremen Situation wird. Es dreht sich viel um Krankheiten, Schicksalsschläge. Eine verblüffende Nähe entsteht. Ich weiß nicht, was mir eigentlich am besten gefällt. Das Fasten an sich nicht. Auch wenn ich wohl zwischen 4 und 5 Kilo verlieren werde und sehr viele tolle Ayurveda-Anwendungen gelernt habe. Ich kann schwer mit dem körperlich schwachen Zustand umgehen. Das Yoga? Das schon eher. Das Anspannen und Entspannen tun Geist und Körper gut. Das Wandern? Ja, natürlich. Das habe ich immer gerne gemacht. Aber: wie immer: Am Ende sind es die Menschen. Faszinierend, Lebensgeschichten kennenzulernen. Die Nähe, die in wenigen Tagen entsteht, macht diese Zeit ganz besonders wertvoll. Morgen ist die letzte Folge meines Fastentagebuchs am Start. Det började med en masterclass då Susanna började inse att hennes självbild, inre snacket som pågick och hur hon såg på saker och ting faktiskt påverkade hennes önskan att bli av med de där extra kilona en gång för alla. De enka stegen ledde till mer och idag tränar hon flera gånger i veckan på autopilot, hon väger 10 kilo mindrem hon kan göra resor och åka på semester och lätt anpassa sina nya vanor till andra sammanhang utan att "tappa" det och hon har ett inre lugn. Blake Bates has learned his sentence for his pit bull mix, Kilo, attacking and killing his six-month-old son, Royal, in April 2024.
