What is a human being's most precious resource? Their attention. In order for nonprofit marketers, fundraisers, and content producers to create awareness, drive change, and raise funds, they must first capture their audiences' attention. That's why video is so important for nonprofits because it's the most effective communications medium for capturing people's attention.Facebook Research found that users watch video content 5x longer than static content. Other research shows that when both video and text are available on the same webpage, 72% of people choose to watch the video rather than read the copy on the page. Additionally, studies have identified that video is more efficient and engaging than any other form of mass communication.Listen to our conversation with Doug Scott, founder, and CEO of Tectonic Video, as he shares insights from their original research and provides a framework for leveling up your nonprofit's video strategy.Doug Scott is the founder and CEO of Tectonic Video, a video strategy, and production company that works with some of the world's most innovative nonprofits including the American Lung Association, World Relief, Mutual Rescue, The Tech Interactive, and the Global Fund for Women. Technology has changed our lives. We live in an era where information is readily accessible and distributed to countless people across the globe. Industries have been disrupted or altogether upended due to miraculous technological advances. Progress is being made to change the world, but there has been collateral damage. Families need to find a balanced digital lifestyle, or they could face countless repercussions. Along with special co-host, Gen Padalecki, we spoke with one of the leaders spearheading the initiative to spread awareness about the growing issues with technology. Called the “closest thing Silicon Valley has to a conscience,” by The Atlantic magazine, Tristan Harris spent three years as a Google Design Ethicist developing a framework for how technology should “ethically” steer the thoughts and actions of billions of people from screens. He is now co-founder & president of the Center for Humane Technology, whose mission is to reverse ‘human downgrading' and re-align technology with humanity. Harris stars in the recent Netflix Documentary, The Social Dilemma, which has catapulted the fight for our attention and issues with technology into the global spotlight. As parents, we need to know more about this problem and help save the next generation from its pitfalls. Harris shares his wisdom and insight so that more families are equipped to tackle this issue at home.Learn more about the Center for Humane TechnologyLearn more about the Social Dilemma Documentary
