"The Ozone" is the official Podcast of SUNY Oneonta Athletics. SUNY Oneonta is an NCAA Div. III institution in Upstate NY. "The Ozone" features current and former coaches, athletes, and special friends of athletics.
In episode 25, we interview retired women's soccer coach and Director of Athletics Tracey Ranieri previewing her induction into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 2023.
In episode 24, we interview Gerald Jones '91. Jones was a 1,000-point scorer for the men's basketball team and is still in the top-10 all-time. Jones was part of the 2023 Athletics Hall of Fame class.
In episdode 23, we interview Ainsley Stoll '11 who was the top field hockey player during her four years at Oneonta. Stoll was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 2023.
In episode 22, we interview three-sport standout Dina St. Claire '91. St. Claire was part of the 2023 Athletics Hall of Fame class.
In episode 21, we interview Eileen McClafferty who spent 30+ years at SUNY Oneonta. We talk about her time at the college and her support for student athletes.
In episode 20, we interview the 2009 Men's Indoor 4x400 relay that won an NCAA National Title in 2009. The foursome included Joe Reed '09, Eric Theiss '09, Fred Romer '10 and Sean Daly '11.
In episode 19, we interview Chris Williams '93 as a preview to his induction into the Athletics Hall of Fame. Williams was a top baseball player during his years at Oneonta.
In episode 17, we interview Lou Niera '89 who was a standout basketball player during his years at Oneonta. Niera was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2021.
In episode 18 of "The Ozone" we interview 2021 Hall of Fame inductee Mary Velan '08. Velan was a two-sport All-American during her career as a soccer player and track & field athlete.
In Episode 16 of "The Ozone" we interview 2021 Hall of Fame Inductee Dr. Patricia M. Kennedy '71. Kennedy was a top women's swimmer in the mid to late 60s.
In Episode 14, "The Ozone" interviews 2021 Hall of Fame inductee Andrea Bradford Decker '01. Bradford was a four-time All-Conference and three-time All-Region softball player. The team won two SUNYAC titles and made two NCAA tournament appearances.
In Episode 15, "The Ozone" interviewed 2021 Hall of Fame inductee Lee Aldrich '63. Aldrich was a two-sport standout in soccer and tennis.
On Episode 13, 2021 Hall of Fame Honorary Inductee Dr. Barton "Bart" Ingersoll is interviewed. Ingersoll spent 20 years at the college primarily as the University Police Chief. In his role as the Associate VP for Student Development, he oversaw Athletics serving as the Interim AD in 2006-07.
In Episode 12, The Ozone welcomed retiring SUNY Oneonta Athletics Director Tracey Ranieri. We celebrated her 30 years of excellence at the college as a coach and administrator. We also had some special guests join the show that included Dr. Steve Perry (Retired VP of Student Development), Marilyn Moore (Retired SUNY Geneseo AD) and Kelly Stevens (Co-Captain of 2003 national championship team).
In Episode 10 of "The Ozone" we feature senior baseball player Michael Losak (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun). Mike talks about his final season and his leadership roles in the athletics department, SUNYAC and SUNY. He also speaks about his advocacy for mental health while opening up about his own struggles with depression.
Episode 9 of "The Ozone" features Sean Bernstein '13 and Rachael Shine '17. The two share their experiences as student athletes and what helped them to be so successful while at Oneonta. Sean was a national champion and Rachael was a multi-All-American. The pair were also selected as the Athletes of the Decade. In this episode, Oneonta Hall of Famer Rick Yandoloi '77 talks about his experience as a member of the baseball team in the mid-1970's. He also talks about his career in business managing nine McDonalds franchises.
Coach Byrne talks about his philosophy of soccer and how he's been able to maintain such a high level of success during the past decade. Byrne also talks about growing up in South Africa and how former coach Garth Stam influenced him.
