Shoot us a Text.Episode #1017: Today we talk Polestar's bold Tesla takedown with a $20K lease play, Jeff Bezos' stealthy new EV startup with big aspirations, and GM's pause on BrightDrop van production despite rock-bottom pricing.Show Notes with links:A secretive EV startup based in Michigan is gaining attention fast. Funded by Jeff Bezos and stocked with talent from Ford, GM, Harley-Davidson, and Stellantis, Slate Auto is taking a bold swing at building a $25,000 electric pickup.Founded in 2022 via Re:Build Manufacturing, Slate has already raised over $100 million and closed a Series B round. The company is targeting late 2026 production near Indianapolis, building a minimalist two-seat pickup truck.Slate's strategy flips the usual EV script—start affordable and scale with accessories, not luxury trims. Its product roadmap includes personalization, merchandise, and “Slate University” for customer-led upgrades.“We built it. You make it,” is the company's trademarked mission to empower buyers with customization.Polestar is going big to lure Tesla owners, offering a jaw-dropping $20,000 incentive for drivers to lease the new Polestar 3 luxury EV crossover—an offer good through the end of March. The deal includes a $15,000 “Clean Vehicle Incentive” plus a $5,000 “Conquest Bonus” for current Tesla owners. The offer applies only to leased 2025 Polestar 3s; delivery must be taken from existing inventory before March 31.The Polestar 3 is sleek, spacious, and built in South Carolina with top-tier tech and sustainable materials.Performance specs include up to 517 hp, a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds, and up to 350 miles of range. The Polestar offer says: “The Polestar 3 offers more comfort, tech, and style than the aging Model Y,”GM is hitting the brakes on production of its all-electric BrightDrop van at its Ontario facility due to soft demand—despite deep discounts and compelling incentives that still make it a standout EV deal.Production at CAMI Assembly will pause April 14 and remain idle until October 2025 for retooling. The move affects nearly 500 workers and drops the plant to a single shift post-relaunch.Only 274 BrightDrop vans were sold in Q1 2025—a modest 7% increase year-over-year.The announcement follows market jitters caused by Trump's tariff threats and broader EV hesitations.“It's a crushing blow to hundreds of working families in Ingersoll,” said Unifor President Lana Payne.Join hosts Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/
Jerry opens the show by talking about the 6 types of voters. Then, Dr. Mitch weighs in on the use of weight-loss drugs in kids over 12 years old. Then, workers are laid off at the Ingersoll assembly plant. Bryan Passifiume discusses the Liberal operatives who planted 'Stop the Steal' buttons at a Conservative conference.
With every move Trump makes on tariffs, the stock market reacts. His so-called “Liberation Day” on April 2nd ushered in a wave of volatility and deep losses in global financial markets. Trump then announced a 90 day pause on retaliatory tariffs for most countries which lead to a mid-week surge then another drop. On Friday, General Motors announced a summer-long halt to production in Ingersoll, Ontario, adding to worries about the long term effects of this trade war and what comes next..Our question: Market turmoil, and tariffs: What do you stand to lose? What questions do you have about surviving it?
500 employees at a GM plant in Ingersoll, Ontario will face layoffs; plus, There are growing concerns of Canada facing a lack of tourism this summer.
GM lays off hundreds of workers from a plant in Ingersoll, Ontario. The plant makes EV delivery vans. The company is pointing to the market, saying it is in a slump. But the union is pointing to U.S. policies, including tariffs, and a turn away from EVs.And: The White House says the U.S. can't be dependent on China. The two countries have raised their tariffs to levels that will make trade between them very difficult. Some U.S. companies say that could force them out of business altogether. And it all could have a trickle-down effect on the cost of Chinese goods in Canada. Also: Municipal leaders from across the country say there is a major issue missing from the federal election campaign. Their plan — Elbows up for Climate Action — includes ideas they say will address climate change… AND the threats to Canada's economic sovereignty.Plus: polls suggest the NDP may be flirting with the loss of its party status, countries reach a deal on global fuel standards, and more.
St. Thomas Mayor Joe Preston talks about EVs in the wake of the General Motors announcement about the Ingersoll CAMI plant
General Motors announced changes at CAMI in Ingersoll on Apr. 11. They will mean a reduction in shifts and it will mean layoffs.

The Secret Sauce to Drool-Worthy Food Photography Picture this: You're scrolling through Yelp, stomach rumbling, overwhelmed by choices, and then BAM! A perfectly lit, mouthwatering dish catches your eye, stopping you mid-scroll. The crisp edges of a golden-brown crust, the vibrant pop of fresh herbs, the glossy sheen of a perfectly plated sauce—it all screams, "Order me now!" Your decision is made. That, my friend, is the undeniable power of great food photography. But how do restaurants determine which dishes deserve this kind of spotlight? What makes a meal truly photogenic, and how can images drive sales and brand loyalty? That's exactly what food photographer Nancy Ingersoll unpacks with expertise and passion. Meet Nancy Ingersoll: The Woman Behind the Lens Nancy is more than just a photographer—she's a strategist, stylist, and storyteller. With eight years of experience photographing food and products, she's worked with over 200 brands, ranging from small local restaurants to big-name food companies. She understands branding and marketing inside and out, so she makes sure every photo she takes perfectly captures a restaurant's unique style and what they're trying to achieve. Her expertise goes beyond photography—she curates props, advises on plating techniques, and even helps businesses understand how to leverage visuals for social media and advertising. She doesn't just capture dishes; she helps restaurants tell their story through compelling visuals that drive customer engagement and sales. What You'll Learn in This Episode Nancy shares her step-by-step process for guiding restaurants in selecting the right dishes for a photoshoot. From asking the right questions (What's your most profitable dish? What's seasonal? What makes people say WOW?) to ensuring variety in textures and colors, she breaks it all down with clarity and expertise. Plus, she shares her Give, Get method to help restaurant owners feel confident in their choices. Take This With You Whether you're a food photographer, restaurant owner, or just someone who loves food (hi, same!), Nancy's insights prove that a well-thought-out photo can do more than just look good—it can create cravings, drive sales, and shape a brand's identity.

From the author who told us about Baron Trump, comes another tale, this one lamenting the Democrat Party's "socialist" platform of 1896, and warning that the election of "Bryan" would be the last election for president, as the country would dissolve within a single four year term. Hence the title of the book "1900" or, "The Last President." But, just who is the "last president" according to Lockwood? Is it Bryan, or the man with a "a gleam of devilish joy" in his eyes? Might it be the Baron Trump (or is it, Barron Trump) of his previous books? Might the passage of time reveal all? Thank you for Listening to Right on Radio. After the failed assassination attempt of a former President, it seems like every single group completely lost their mind and connection to reality. Some even suggest that the inch seperating him from death actually changed or split our timeline. This brings us to the fascinating works of Ingersoll Lockwood, a 19th-century author who wrote about a characfter named Baron Troomp. This Barron (like Baron) had a mentor named Don, a strange connection to Russia, german ancestory, a Troomp Castle or Tower, and in the final novel a candidate is unexpectelyd elected to President causing New York to explode into riots with a leftist mob marching on 5th Avenue where Trump Tower is today. These motifs have people wondering if Trump, or maybe Lockwood, is a timetraveler, especially since Trump's uncle handled the papers of Nikola Tesla who also lived in New York at the same time as Lockwood. Considering the seeming predictions of the Simpsons and Back to the Future II, not to mention a Marge Simpson coffin recently found dating to 3,000 years ago in Egypt, the story seems to get every stranger. -FREE ARCHIVE & RSS: https://www.spreaker.com/show/the-secret-teachingsTwitter: https://twitter.com/TST___RadioFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/thesecretteachingsWEBSITE (BOOKS, RESUBSCRIBE for early show access): http://thesecretteachings.infoPaypal: rdgable@yahoo.comCashApp: $rdgableBuy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/tstradioSUBSCRIBE TO NETWORK: http://aftermath.mediaEMAIL: rdgable@yahoo.com / TSTRadio@protonmail.com
In this episode, Lisa and Anne discuss:The benefits of liberal arts colleges and how to determine if they might be a good fit for your teen. How liberal arts colleges differ from larger research universities.Misconceptions about liberal arts colleges.Helping your teen understand their learning style to determine the right type of school for them. Key Takeaways: There are considerably more small liberal arts colleges in the US than there are big research universities. Many families rule out liberal arts colleges because they haven't heard of them. But until a student steps foot on the campus and has clarity about their college major, it is hard to know if it will be a great fit. Don't rule out liberal arts colleges until you have more information. There are opportunities available at smaller institutions that aren't available at larger schools.Visiting colleges and universities of various sizes, even if it isn't the schools your teen is considering, can help them understand more about the type of school they are looking for. “There are a lot of really great opportunities at liberal arts colleges; we just have to take that next step to do a little bit more investigation and, hopefully, set foot on a campus or two before you completely rule them out.” – Anne IngersollAbout Anne Ingersoll: I am passionate about helping high school students and their families peacefully and successfully navigate the complex world of college admissions. This process is filled with much anxiety (and a touch of ego) but my goal is to remove that anxiety and focus on what's best for the student.I began my college consulting work in 2001 at a private firm in Louisville, Kentucky, where I spent over four years as an independent college counselor. Originally from Mishawaka, Indiana, I attended Butler University, earning a degree in Telecommunication Arts with a concentration in Japanese and Secondary Education. I earned my Masters in Education in 2009 from the University of St. Mary (KS). I have attended annual NACAC conferences and have served on the leadership team for GPACAC (Great Plains Association of College Admission Counseling).Episode References:098 How Your Teen Can Benefit from an Honors College with Sylvia Borgo086 Advice for High School Athletes About Playing in College with Dave Morris022 The College Bound Student Athlete Process115 Making the Final College Decision with Marni LevineGet Lisa's Free on-demand video: How-to guide for your teen to choose the right major, college, & career...(without painting themselves into a corner, missing crucial deadlines, or risking choices you both regret). flourishcoachingco.com/video Connect with Anne:Instagram: instagram.com/collegeboundassociatesllc Facebook: facebook.com/CollegeBoundAssociates LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/anne-ingersoll-94618334 Website: collegeboundassociates.com Email: anne@collegeboundassociates.com Connect with Lisa:Website: https://www.flourishcoachingco.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@flourishcoachingcoInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/flourishcoachingco/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/flourish-coaching-co

It's Wednesday, June 26th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark 37 physical attacks on Christians in Israel in 2023 The Rossing Center for Education and Dialogue released a report this month entitled, “Attacks on Christians in Israel and East Jerusalem.” The report documented 33 attacks on church properties and 37 cases of physical attacks against Christians last year. The report noted, “While hostility towards the Christian presence has been a longstanding occurrence in some local communities, it has now escalated to a broader and more severe phenomenon.” And the report quoted the Cardinal of Jerusalem, Pier Battista Pizzaballa, who said, “These people, [the attackers], feel they are protected … that the cultural and political atmosphere now can justify, or tolerate, actions against Christians.” Liberian Methodist Bishop opposes American Methodist heresy Back in May, the United Methodist Church voted in favor of allowing those living sexually perverted lifestyles to be clergy. To its credit, the United Methodist Church in Liberia, Africa is opposing the decision. Liberian Bishop Samuel J. Quire Jr. released a statement this month. He wrote, “The Liberia Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church will not conduct any weddings or ordinations of self-avowed, practicing homosexuals. The Liberia Annual Conference … is traditional in its interpretation of Holy Scripture and will continue its evangelistic outreach to all persons who live in darkness and do not know the redemptive grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ.” I Corinthians 16:13 says, “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” Franklin Graham champions religious liberty in Scotland FRANKLIN GRAHAM: “It is good to be in Glasgow.” Evangelist Franklin Graham preached to over 7,000 people in Glasgow, Scotland on Saturday. Listen to this clip from his sermon. GRAHAM: “Sin is a barrier. It's a wall. It blocks you from God. You see, God loves you, and He's willing to forgive our sins, but we have to come to Him, His way, and that's through the cross of Jesus Christ. You can hit the reset button. You've got a new start at life, but you have to make a choice.” Over 300 Scottish churches partnered with Graham for the event. One local pastor said, “We see depression, mental health problems, financial issues, we see it all. And it's not just our church, it's people all over Scotland. Nothing is going to help Scotland apart from Jesus.” One man in his 20s professed Jesus Christ as his Savior at the crusade. NEW CHRISTIAN: “I went up tonight because Franklin is so powerful in his Word. He said, ‘Get up out your seat.' I had to get up out of my seat. I had to get there. I didn't realize that there was going to be two to three thousand people behind me. It gives me anxiety, but I didn't care. I'm going. I'm going to give it to the cross.” During the event, Graham announced the creation of the Billy Graham Defense Fund for protecting religious freedom in the U.K. He said the fund is designed to “encourage Christians across the U.K. to keep living out and sharing their faith freely and boldly.” Biden and Trump ready to rumble on CNN ANNOUNCER: “Let's get ready to rumble. Are you all ready for this?” President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are set to debate tomorrow night in Atlanta on CNN. Ahead of the debate, both candidates released campaign updates. Trump's campaign and the Republican National Committee raised over $140 million in May. Meanwhile, Biden's campaign and the Democratic National Committee raised $85 million. Trump's support was boosted by small dollar donations during his trial and conviction in May on charges of falsifying business records. Oklahoma Supreme Court rules religious charter school unconstitutional Oklahoma's state supreme court ruled on Tuesday that a religious charter school is unconstitutional. St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School was set to open this year. It would have been the first publicly-funded religious charter school in the country. Alliance Defending Freedom is supporting the charter school. ADF Attorney Phil Sechler said, “The U.S. Constitution protects St. Isidore's freedom to operate according to its faith. … We are disappointed with the court's ruling that upholds discrimination against religion; we'll be considering all legal options, including appeal.” U.S. deficit $400 billion higher than predicted The U.S. Congressional Budget Office updated its federal budget deficit estimate on Tuesday. The agency projects the U.S. deficit will be $400 billion higher this year than the agency projected in February. This projection follows spending packages for Ukraine and Israel, costs for reducing student loan debt, and increased Medicaid spending. Take a look at the U.S. Debt Clock through a special link in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com. The agency also expects public debt will increase from 99% of the Gross Domestic Product this year to 122% by 2034. That would be the highest level on record. Anniversary of Roman Emperor Julian the Apostate's death Roman Emperor Julian the Apostate died on this day in history in AD 363. He suffered wounds during a conflict with Persian forces in what is modern-day Iraq. As his name suggests, Julian spent his life trying to bring back paganism to the Roman Empire. He took aim at many of the Christian reforms of Emperor Constantine. However, referencing Christ in his dying words, Julian said, “Thou hast won, O Galilean.” The pagan emperor's last words aptly sum up the previous centuries of Christ's victory over paganism through His church. Isaiah 9:7 says of Jesus, “Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end.” What prompted a 10-year-old boy to give $10 to The Worldview I picked up the phone recently and talked to two Worldview listeners, Kristina and her 10-year-old son Lukas in Olympia, Washington. Kristina, a homeschool mother of six children, explained how the family first became aware of The Worldview newscast. KRISTINA: “We started listening to it because we bought some Generations curriculum a few years ago, the history, and it was connected with that. I just love it! Because I want my children and myself to have a heart for what God's doing in the world. It helps our hearts to be bigger and focus on what God's focused on. I just appreciate the daily refocusing of our vision to be bigger. It gives us something to pray about.” She is especially grateful for the stories we share on the persecuted church. KRISTINA: “When we listen to the first story about Christians who are suffering for their faith, we just love the opportunity to uphold brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering for Christ and yet are remaining faithful. So, we uphold them in prayer and thank the Lord that we have these brothers and sisters and just pray that their ministry, whatever it is, and their influence would be expanded and the Gospel would go forth.” Lukas, her 10-year-old, echoed that sentiment. LUKAS: “It's just very informative about Christ moving in the world, stories of people following their faith, even if it gets them hospitalized.” McMANUS: “Have you and Daniel and your parents ever prayed for someone you heard about on the newscast?” LUKAS: “Every single time we listen to it.” McMANUS: “Oh, wow!” LUKAS: “When we hear about someone who's getting persecuted or has being threatened to get persecuted, we pray that God would save them in some way, or that they would not give up faith in God.” McMANUS: “What made you think about giving $10?” LUKAS: “It feels like God has really changed a lot in my life and felt like He was encouraging me to do that.” McMANUS: “Where did this money come from?” LUKAS: “Just money I accumulated from birthdays or other things.” McMANUS: “Is it just from gifts that you got the money from or did you work for any of the money?" LUKAS: “I guess I've helped my dad with some things to get some of it.” McMANUS: “What do you do for your dad?” LUKAS: “Usually just something useful to help him, like getting into places he can't reach when he's working.” McMANUS: (laughs) “That sounds like my kids. Oh, that's funny. Like cleaning the attic or the garage or a project like that where you're cleaning up something or what?" LUKAS: “Usually in the attic. I just have to pull some wires to where he can reach them.” McMANUS “What was your reaction when Lukas said he wanted to give $10 of his money to, to the newscast effort.” KRISTINA: “I was grateful that he listened to the nudge of the Holy Spirit. It was excited that his heart was turned toward that.” McMANUS: “Tell me about your decision to match it.” KRISTINA: “Well, I thought I would join him, that would honor his gift by doubling it. The Lord loves to multiply little things into much.” 8 Worldview listeners donated $3,050 And finally, toward our $84,000 final goal by 5:00pm central this Saturday, June 29th, 8 Worldview listeners stepped up to the plate to help fund our 6-member team for another fiscal year. It's Monday, June 24th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Catholic man imprisoned for accidentally stepping on Quran Since April 27th, a Catholic man has been jailed under blasphemy against Islam charges in Lahore, Pakistan for inadvertently stepping out of his rickshaw onto some papers said to be pages of the Quran, reports Morning Star News. Dennis Albert, a 35-year-old rickshaw driver, was booked under one section of Pakistan's Muslim blasphemy laws that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and another law that mandates life in prison if the Quran has been defiled. The Lahore police arrested him on the complaint of Mubeen Ilyas, a Muslim passerby who alleged he saw Albert standing on some pages barefoot near a rickshaw, and that after closely looking at them, he found that they were Islamic scriptures. According to Open Doors, Pakistan is the 7th most difficult country worldwide in which to be a Christian. Presidential debate set for Thursday night President Joe Biden is hunkered down with aides at Camp David for several days to get ready to debate rival Donald Trump, who is eschewing traditional preparation and instead holding informal policy discussions between campaign stops, report Reuters. The face-off in Atlanta, at 9:00 p.m. ET this Thursday will be the earliest presidential debate in modern U.S. history and a critical event for both candidates. Biden, 81, and former president Trump, 78, are neck-and-neck in national opinion polls, with a considerable slice of the electorate still undecided five months before the November 5th vote. Washington Gov. stockpiles Abortion Kill Pill if Trump is re-elected In preparation for “The resistance to a new Trump administration,” Washington's Democratic Governor Jay Inslee is stockpiling Abortion Kill Pills, reports ThePostMillennial.com. After the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against a challenge to Biden's Food and Drug Administration which allowed the Abortion Kill Pill to be sent through the mail without an in-person doctor consultation, leaders of the Democratic Party are preparing in case a new Trump administration rescinds the approval or uses the 1873 Comstock Act to criminalize mailing the drug across state lines. According to a New York Times article, Governor Inslee's stockpile of the Abortion Kill Pill is locked away in a state warehouse. Inslee is one of at least five Democratic governors who have established stockpiles of Mifepristone. The others are the governors of California, Massachusetts, New York, and Oregon. Tennessee governor calls for 30 days of prayer and fasting in July In contrast to the radical leftist antics of the Washington Democratic State Governor, Tennessee Republican Governor Bill Lee made a great decision. In what has been described as an “historic gesture,” Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has signed a bill calling for 30 days of prayer and fasting beginning July 1 in the Volunteer State. Tennessee House Joint Resolution 0803 asks the people of the state “to seek God's hand of mercy and healing on Tennessee.” A letter signed by Tennessee state Senator Mark Pody and Representative Monty Fritts accompanying the resolution invites “those who are physically able and spiritually inclined to do so to join in a 30-day season of prayer and intermittent fasting for the month of July as a means of humbling ourselves to receive God's grace, mercy, and blessing in Tennessee and in our Nation.” The language of the legislators is reminiscent of 2 Chronicles 7:14 in which God says, “If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and I will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” Couple discovers abandoned newborn A Katy, Texas couple was shocked on Saturday, June 15th, while out for a family walk, to discover an abandoned newborn baby girl with her umbilical cord still attached, reports FaithWire.com. Daniela Fedele told KHOU-TV that she and her husband noticed a towel on the ground, as her 3-year-old biked toward it, and immediately realized a baby was wrapped inside. FEDELE: “I noticed two little feet moving. My husband was right behind me with the dogs, and I yelled to my husband. ‘A baby, a baby!' And then my husband [was] like, ‘Call 911!' And that's what we did.” They moved the baby out of the heat and into a shaded area while waiting for police. FEDELE: “Once my husband went ahead and picked up the baby, he found the nearest tree right there at that house down the street. He found a little shade.” Fedele said she's in shock over the ordeal, and is struggling to understand why someone would leave the child. FEDELE: “This image has been going on through my head so many times. How can you do that? I was shocked. I was mad. I was upset.” Ultimately, Fedele said she's grateful her family went for a walk and discovered the baby. FEDELE: “I don't know [what] made us go for a walk this morning. We usually do, but sometimes, you know, you just don't want to do it, things happen. But, this morning, we're, like, ‘No let's go ahead and get out.'” I know Who made them go for a walk. The answer is clear. Almighty God Himself, in His compassionate providence, prompted them to go on that walk. Psalm 115:3 says, “Our God is in Heaven; He does whatever pleases Him.” Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed the news of the baby's discovery. GONZALEZ: “The baby was a newborn. Still had fresh placenta on the baby. So, it was freshly born this morning. I praised her. I said, ‘You were in the right place at the right time.' The two witnesses that were thankfully walking on the trail, with their child and their dogs, were blessing.” According to a video taken from a neighbor's Ring camera on their doorbell, just two minutes before Danielle Fidele and her husband discovered the helpless baby girl, a young, slim Hispanic or White male with a fair complexion and black hair placed the baby, wrapped in the blanket on the ground and then ran away. According to the Houston Chronicle, the man, if identified, could face child abandonment charges. When KHOU-TV interviewed Brittney Barnes, a neighbor, she said this. BARNES: “It's still a little disheartening that the baby got left. It's hot. Somebody must have been going through something to have left their child there. But to find out that the baby was okay was a reliever.” The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the baby was found in good condition and will remain hospitalized as they try to locate her family. Fedele urged any young couple who feel trapped by a new baby to consider better options. FEDELE: “You can drop it off at a fire station, a police station, a hospital. But don't leave the baby!” Indeed, under the Baby Moses law, named after the baby rescued from the floating basket in the Nile River in Exodus 2:10, anyone who feels they are unable to care for a newborn younger than 60 days can drop off the child at a Safe Haven and avoid prosecution. As Daniela Fedele pointed out, Safe Havens include places like hospitals or fire stations. But the baby must be handed to an employee at that Safe Haven. 11 Worldview listeners donated $2,020 And finally, toward our $63,000 goal by this past Saturday, June 22nd – the three-week mark of our month-long fundraiser, 11 Worldview listeners stepped up to the plate to help fund our 6-member team for another fiscal year.
