Erik Johnson is the head coach of the University of Denver women's basketball program, returning to lead the Pioneers in 2026 after previously serving as head coach from 2008 to 2012. During his first stint, he guided Denver to a 72-52 record, four consecutive winning seasons, and the program's first WNIT appearance.Johnson brings more than 30 years of collegiate coaching experience, including head coaching stops at Boston College and assistant coaching roles at Fairfield, Boston College, San Diego, and Rhode Island. Most recently, he helped Fairfield win three MAAC Championships and earn three NCAA Tournament appearances.Known for building winning cultures and developing student-athletes on and off the court, Johnson holds a degree in psychology from UC San Diego and a master's degree in adult education from Rhode Island.His wife Laura was a former volleyball player at Ohio State and was an alternate for the 2000 Olympic Team. The Johnsons have two daughters, Daly and Avery. The couple's son Davis tragically passed away at the age of four in May of 2010. The Johnson family is thrilled to be back at DU, a place that Davis loved, and his memory is cherished.

Katie Tolles is the Head Women's Coach for Case Western Reserve University's rowing team and the Director of Communications for the Cleveland Rowing Foundation's Board of Directors. Katie speaks to host Elizabeth Emery about the beauty of teamwork, being on the water, coaching high school and college athletes, travel, fear, and jumping right into things. Katie's rowing career began as a freshman walk-on at Marietta College. She knew nothing about the sport when she started, but quickly rose through the team, becoming a leader early on in the Women's 1V8+ & 1V4+ for her four years of undergrad. Katie pursued elite rowing at Vesper Boat Club on Boathouse Row in Philadelphia in 2016. That summer she and her teammates went on to win Club Nationals and Canadian Henley. Katie served as a founding coach for Magnificat High School and designed the branding for the rowing programs at Magnificat High School, Cleveland Foundry Juniors and Case Western Reserve University. Today, Katie is a competitive athlete who sculls on the Cuyahoga River. She recently placing 5th at The Head of the Charles. Mike Williams is the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Grand Valley State University where he just led the Lakers to back to back D2 National Championships in 2025 and 2026. In his 11 years at the helm of the Laker program, he has amassed a 314-50 (.863) overall record and a 188-28 (.870) record in the GLIAC. He has led the Lakers to six GLIAC regular season titles, four GLIAC Tournament titles, four Midwest Regional titles, and two National Championships.This is the second stint for Williams at GVSU, as he was an assistant coach with the Lakers from 2002-2007, which included winning the 2006 Division II National Championship.Williams spent four seasons as the head coach at Davenport, where he compiled an outstanding 130-11 (.922) overall record. Before becoming the head coach at Davenport, Williams spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Michigan. He was also responsible for starting the women's basketball program at Finlandia (NCAA Division III) in Hancock, Mich. In his three seasons as head coach (1999-2000 to 2001-02), the team owned a 44-33 (.571) record.Williams coached for a number of years at the high school level, where he was head coach of the girls varsity team at Hancock High School from 1989 to 2000. Those teams recorded a 207-51 (.802) mark, winning eight district championships and four regional titles. For five seasons, he was also the head coach of the varsity boys team at Hancock, owning a 72-36 (.667) record.He began his coaching career at Ironwood High School, as head coach of the girls varsity team in 1986. Chad Berryhill, Head Women's Coach at Embry Riddle, didn't even start playing tennis until his freshman year of high school, when his basketball coach encouraged him to try the sport as a way to stay in shape. That introduction quickly turned into a passion that led him to the Professional Tennis Management program at Ferris State University and eventually into college coaching. At just 22 years old, Chad became the head coach at Hillsborough Community College and has since built a highly successful career at the NCAA Division II level, with head coaching stops at Ferris State and Saint Leo. In this week's basketball coaching conversation, Grace College head coach Dan Davis joins the Basketball Podcast to share insights on their NCAA single game scoring record.Dan Davis is the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Grace College, where he has established one of the most successful eras in program history. His coaching career spans over 200 total wins and includes both NCAA and NAIA coaching experience.Davis's teams are known for a high-octane style of play, achieving national statistical ranks in scoring offense and turnover margin. His aggressive approach led to the Grace College women's basketball team setting a collegiate scoring record in a 172–91 victory over Ohio Christian, which stands as the most points ever recorded in a single game by any collegiate women's team across NAIA, NCAA Division I, II, or III.During his tenure at Grace, Davis led the Lancers to the 2024 NCCAA National Championship, securing the program's first-ever national title, and was consequently named the 2024 NCCAA National Coach of the Year. The 2022–2023 season marked a significant breakthrough, as Davis guided the team to the NAIA National Tournament for the first time and set new program records for total wins (24), conference wins (13), and the longest winning streak (7). His commitment to player development is evidenced by coaching both the former and current all-time leading scorers in Grace College program history (Vironnica Drake and Maddie Ryman).Prior to Grace, Davis coached for 10 years at Auburn University-Montgomery (AUM). At AUM, he compiled a record of 157–139, led the Warhawks to two appearances in the NAIA Division I National Tournament, and was named the Southern States Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.

Today we're broadcasting from Ferris State University as it's Anchor-Bone week and they've got a big game against Grand Valley this weekend. Throughout the show, we were joined by some of the great folks connected to Ferris State so we could talk about that game, other sports and more. In our first hour, we were joined by Head Football Coach Tony Annese so he and Huge could preview Saturday's big game. After her mom passed away, seven-year old Ginny Boggess found solace in shooting baskets in her backyard. Pat Sullivan was the first Head Coach of the University of Nebraska's women's volleyball team in 1974, 1975, and 1976. She later served as the head women's volleyball coach at George Washington University from 1978 to 1986 and was inducted into the GW Hall of Fame in 1995. Terry and Pat discuss the challenges of transitioning from a club program to a varsity sport at Nebraska, while also teaching courses and serving as the head coach of the women's swimming team. Drew Olson realized a career long goal on March 12, 2019, when the Concordia University women's basketball team celebrated the program's first ever national title. Olson completed his 19th season as the program's head coach in 2024-25. The program's all-time winningest coach (484-155), Olson guided the Bulldogs to their first-ever national title game appearance in 2015. They reached the same stage again in 2018 and 2019. The 2019-20 team had garnered the No. 1 overall seed at the 2020 national tournament that was canceled before the first round was finished.During his tenure, Olson has directed his teams to a combined 12 GPAC titles (tournament and regular season), 16 national tournament trips and five national semifinal appearances. The 2019-20 (32-2), 2018-19 (35-3), 2017-18 (36-2), 2014-15 (35-3), 2016-17 (34-3) and 2011-12 (34-3) squads each eclipsed the 30-win mark. The 2017-18 team equaled a program record for wins in a single season.
