    Joe.-Part 2.

Joe, my biological Dad, is half of my origin story. So much of my life and who I've been up to this point has revolved around his life and decisions. He was incarcerated when I was 9 and for 21 years I held my breath waiting for the new reality when my Daddy got home. Little Bionca's mantra was “All will be right in my world when my Daddy  gets home.”That turned out to be true but not at all in the way I dreamed or imagined. But finally, all is right in my world. Unpack with me as I close the book of my origin story, take the pen, and create my own. Joe.- Part 2. Thank you for listening!

This isn't a topic I expected to unpack right out of the gate. I don't think much about the role of submissive women in romantic relationships. By definition, I don't describe myself as a submissive person. Am I nurturing and caring? Absolutely, but not submissive. Words matter. Lovers and Friends podcast hosted a fantastic interview about submissive women that sparked the latest wave of conversation around the Internet and this episode. The joy of these conversations is realizing the parts you can take away for yourself. Tap in and unpack with me. I would love to hear your perspective. -The Homegirl in your ear

I'm sure we've all seen the viral tweets about if people should be paying bills 50/50 or not in a relationship. I've seen and heard a lot of perspectives around everything but one of the main reasons...money. Is the push-back really principle or a lack of resources? I'm just asking because I know how ya'll like to tussle! I've been working hard on being the opposite of hyper-independent so the 50/50 Club is closed for me, honey!!Tap in and let's unpack.

They say you can tell a lot about a woman by how she cooks rice and by how she shows up in the world. In this episode, we unpack Rice Lessons. Rice Lessons started as an inside joke about how I wanted to buy a rice cooker because I literally could not cook rice. It later turned into a life lesson about showing up as myself, unapologetically. For most of my life, I've been trying to prove my worth and value to everyone but me. Healing is a  journey of collecting new tools and perspectives and applying them.Join me as I unpack Rice Lessons: You ain't got shit to prove to a pot of rice or a n*gga neither. I would love to hear about your Rice Lessons, email me at unpackyourshitpodcast@gmail.com

Validation: Recognition or affirmation that a person or their feelings or opinions are valid or worthwhile. Every episode so far has included someone else's bag but this one is MINE. It's hard to have this conversation with myself, even before I turn on the mic. I have had unhealthy attachments for a long time, specifically attached to the need for approval and validation. I have had a bad habit of taking the most difficult route to lessons. The road is long, but the beauty is in the journey and process. Enjoy the roses along your path to growth while you can. The Universe, God, Jesus, is working for you, not against. I know nothing that is for you will miss you. But you can create unnecessary hardships, delays, and obstacles. Let’s stop creating those barriers together. Tap in! What are you unpacking? I would love to hear from you! Email me at unpackyourshitpodcast@gmail.com

I recently engaged in a conversation online that encouraged me to analyze and unpack my unhealthy association with vulnerability as it pertains to Black men. I am learning how to build and maintain a space where our men feel safe to be raw, soft, and emotionally vulnerable. I invite you to join me. This is a quick episode because as Amanda Seales says, the truth don’t take long to tell. Tap in and join me! What are you unpacking? I would love to hear from you. Joe, the elephant in the room. Until recently, I didn't consider myself a fatherless daughter. Joe and I have had a close relationship my entire life, how can I be fatherless? When he was released from prison in 2018, the answer was crystal clear. This episode is the most honest conversation I have ever had about Joe. I couldn’t prepare for it so I turned on the mic and unpacked. This episode is heavy and liberating. If your green tea, alkaline water, or Dusse is calling, answer! You might need a drink for this one. What are you unpacking? I would love to hear from you. Email me at unpackyourshitpodcast@gmail.com.

We all see those memes that talk about eliminating negative energy and friends. But what happens when the sage is lit to clear the energy and YOU start choking? In this episode, we talk about the breakdown of friendship and betrayal I have experienced. We also discuss my role in some of those friendships. It’s really easy to point out what others have done to you. It’s more difficult to acknowledge and correct your frequency because sometimes, oftentimes…we ain’t shit either. When was the last time you lit some sage and gauged your energy? I would love to hear from you. Email me at unpackyourshitpodcast@gmail.com.

Unpack Your Shit is a labor of love and authentic expression. I have been trying to figure out how to decorate my tiny corner of the Internet for some time. I have been waiting for the right time to start. There will never be a right time, you have to start by starting! Over the last 2 years, I've been on a journey of self-reflection and focusing on how I am showing up in the world and why. In this episode, I start at the beginning, age 9. It’s amazing how healing your inner child can be when we are bold enough to listen. What has your inner child been saying? I would love to hear from you. Email me at unpackyourshitpodcast@gmail.com.
