Waking Up To Wisdom is a podcast about being human and discovering our infinite capacity to navigate life with resilience, creativity and joy. We believe that we are more than the sum of our experiences. We have within us an intelligence that is working for us and through us all of the time, even when we are not aware. Much like the body knows how to digest, breathe, beat our heart, and heal a wound; our minds are of the same intelligence. When we wake up to the understanding of what we are, the power of thought and how our experience of life gets created, we live from a place of wisdom. Waking Up To Wisdom conversations remind us to take life as it comes and of the magnificence of being alive.

Ep. 14 Mismanaged Imagination

Us human beings have been gifted with an amazing ability to imagine. However, this gift mismanaged can lead to fear and anxiety. It is not practical to try and stop feeling something but knowing we will feel what we focus on, we can turn our attention to something of our choosing. No thought lasts forever. Our imaginations can paint horror movies on the screens of our experience. If you don’t like the feeling, get up and take yourself to another theater. Our system is wonderfully designed to make our experience into a full blown special effects masterpiece. We are conscious, meaning that we have senses that experience the outside world and we make meaning out of all of it. The experience we create inside of us is completely compelling. That is the gift of consciousness. That is all well and good if what is being created is enjoyable. However, if what we are creating is fear, worry, frustration, depression (fill in the blank) which can seem so compelling we don’t realize we are indulging in our unfortunate creation. We can choose to not yield freely to our imaginations therefore not taking ourselves so seriously and perhaps enjoying the full contact sport of living. “Circumstances don’t make you; they reveal you”. Human beings are innately creative. We are made of pure creative energy. It can seem like circumstances outside of ourselves create our experience of life. This is a misunderstanding. Circumstances are neutral and it is our power of Thought that determines our experience. That means that we don’t have to believe our thoughts, as they are not pure reality. We are free to tap into our creative nature and choose what we want our circumstances to be revealing within us. Think of your toughest circumstance that you are facing and ask yourself what you would like to be revealed in you, by the situation. Ep. 10 Practicing Premature Practicality

When we think about creating something new in our lives we can be prematurely practical and kill off possibility before we even try. It is so easy to go into all the reasons why something won’t work and focus on the potential for failure. This will slow us down or keep us from moving forward with our creative idea. Allow yourself to move in the direction of making a change and suspend the need to be overly practical. Your wisdom will show up for you and respond to what is needed in the moment. We don’t need to be prematurely practical. Leaning into the understanding that wellbeing and happiness is our natural state we are more free to make decisions in our lives. The old way of thinking had us asking “what is going to make me happy?”. If our happiness doesn’t exist in an outcome or in an external circumstance then we can stop using that question to make decisions in our life. Life is unpredictable and we can give up the worry about getting decisions in our lives wrong. We can let go of the need to get life right and allow ourselves to live and learn from whatever choices we make. The post Ep. 9 – What Makes You Happy appeared first on Waking Up to Wisdom Podcast.

Today is Valentine’s Day, so it seems fitting to have a discussion about L-O-V-E, love. The three principles understanding has made a big difference in all our relationships. Both of us can describe a before and after experience in how we related to our partners. We recognize we are in relationship with our thoughts about another person, not the other person directly. Knowing that our thoughts are not truth, we can hold our opinions about someone else lighty and create deeper connections from a place of love. In this episode we talk about triggers and do they really exist. We talked about the insecurity of believing that anything outside of us can cause us to feel a particular way. No doubt, life happens and we are conditioned by what we choose to learn from our experiences. However, we are more than the sum of our experiences. We have a resilience within us that we can count that can get us through any circumstance. When we know that resilience is who we are then we are less likely to believe that we can be ‘triggered’. We talk about the dangers of insisting on a trigger free environment and the dependency on safe space in order to thrive. Ep. 6 – Living a Life of Should

Our suffering can begin when we decide that something should or shouldn't be happening. It resists reality and in the words of Byron Katie "we suffer but only 100% of the time". "Should" is a word that indicates we are feeling like a victim and not taking responsibility for our circumstances. It also implies that we know what the future holds. Consider that we actually know nothing! What is happening may be out of our control but how we respond to the moment is not. When we own our ability to respond to life we can move through circumstances with resilience. The post Ep. 6 – Living a Life of Should appeared first on Waking Up to Wisdom Podcast.

When we fully understand that our happiness and well-being is not dependent on a favorable outcome, we are more willing to take risks. When we understand that our thinking about future ventures isn't truth. Our thoughts can create feelings of anxiety as insecurity and imagination paint a picture of failure and doom. We can not take those thoughts seriously, know our well-being is ours whether situations go well or are a learning experience. When we are safe no matter what risks are less scary and we can be bolder about creating the life we want. The post Ep. 5 – The Safety of Taking Risks appeared first on Waking Up to Wisdom Podcast.

Today we are talking about well-being is our natural state. Our thoughts can take us away from that well-being. When we are willing to step away from trying to think our way to happiness that there is a natural well-being in us that we can fall into. When human beings are trusting in this wellness they are naturally self implementing on what they want to create. Move beyond external systems of accountability and begin to trust yourself to create your highest good. The post Ep. 4 – Trusting in Wellbeing appeared first on Waking Up to Wisdom Podcast.

We take a look at the usefulness of resistance to what is. We have the freedom to choose to resist the present moment but is there value in it? So much of life is out of our control. This conversation is a gentle reminder that life is happening from us, not to us. We can open ourselves up to what is happening, remembering we are unlimited in our ability to respond in ways that are in alignment with our highest good. We explore the futility of resisting anything that is happening, recognizing "it is what it is" and we can create our response from a place of acceptance.
