KEY INSIGHTS Leadership Beyond Titles: True leadership comes from how you respond in challenging situations, not just the position you hold. Bold Conversations: These discussions don't break relationships; they build stronger connections and foster trust. The Power of Self-Awareness: Acknowledging your reactions in conversations is vital for growth and authenticity in leadership. Emotional Resilience: Life teaches us that faith and resilience are crucial, especially when navigating uncertainty. I see so many business authors and experts set out to use speaking to have more impact, step firmly into the thought leadership space, and monetise their message, only to get frustrated when they struggle to get the results that they want. Some struggle just getting their talk together, unable to work out which bits of their book ‘baby' to put in and leave out. Others manage to create a talk, only for it to fall flat when they share it on stage. What's often the cause of these issues - and how do you overcome them? That's what this episode is all about! In this episode, I cover: Why the page to stage transition is so hard. The three biggest gaps that make it hard to turn a book into a compelling keynote. How to close those gaps to craft an authentic message that lands in minutes (not chapters). The ingredients of a profitable talk. What to do next. If you've been stuck in indecision, or not getting the results you want then listen up! Enjoy! If you'd like to watch the video of the episode, you can do that here. Tanner Chidester went from struggling entrepreneur to scaling multiple seven and eight-figure businesses—but after hitting $1M/month, he realized something was missing. In this episode, we dive deep into his journey, from early hustle to high-ticket coaching success, and the hard lessons about money, fulfillment, and business scalability. Tanner reveals why most entrepreneurs stall at six figures, how to pivot when strategies stop working, and what separates business owners who plateau from those who scale past $1M/month. What You'll Learn in This Episode: ✔️ The mindset shift Tanner made after hitting $1M/month✔️ Why coaching & consulting businesses have an income ceiling✔️ The biggest hiring mistakes that prevent business growth✔️ How to scale past $100K/month (most entrepreneurs get this wrong)✔️ The future of AI in business, content, and marketing✔️ Why high-ticket is actually easier to sell than low-ticket If you're scaling your business, struggling with sales, or looking for your next big pivot, this episode is packed with insights from someone who's done it at the highest level. DM @tanner.chidester on Instagram with "Blueprint Podcast" to connect. Listen on Apple, Spotify, and YouTubeSubscribe, leave a review, and share this episode! Key Takeaways & Lessons from the Episode 1. The “Million a Month” Realization: Money Won't Fix Everything Tanner hit $1M/month, threw a huge party, and quickly realized… no one cared. After sacrificing friendships, relationships, and free time, he started questioning what actually mattered. His new goal: Building businesses that don't just make money, but also fuel personal growth and freedom. 2. Why Coaching & Consulting Won't Make You a Billionaire High-ticket coaching is great for cash flow, but bad for scale because it requires manual fulfillment. After interviewing ultra-high-net-worth individuals, Tanner found that billion-dollar businesses have: Private Equity: Buying & scaling businesses. Hedge Funds: Managing investor capital at scale. Tech & SaaS: Low-overhead, high-leverage products. If freedom & scalability matter, you need a business that delivers consistent value without constant effort. 3. The 80/20 Rule for Pivoting When Business Strategies Stop Working Many entrepreneurs panic and completely overhaul their strategies too quickly. Instead, test new strategies gradually → Keep 80% of your budget/resources in what's still working and 20% in testing new approaches. Example: If spending $10K/month on ads, keep $8K in proven methods, $2K for testing. 4. Scaling from $100K to $1M: Why Most Entrepreneurs Stall 0-100K/month: Can be brute-forced with hard work and personal effort. 100K-1M/month: Requires hiring, delegation, and team leadership. Biggest mistake: Entrepreneurs think “working harder” will grow their business. Instead, success depends on acquiring & keeping high-level talent. If your team can't execute at a high level, your business will hit a ceiling. 5. Organic vs. Paid Traffic: What's Actually Working in 2025? If you don't have money for ads: Create engaging content that starts inbound conversations. Cold outreach – Manually message potential leads. Content Strategy Tanner Recommends: Case Studies → Show testimonials & proof. Value Posts → Teach something people can use immediately. Lifestyle (optional) → Build relatability & trust. Why high-ticket is easier to sell: Fewer sales needed to hit revenue goals. Perceived value increases when pricing is positioned correctly. 6. The Truth About Instagram Shoutouts & Boosted Posts Do shoutouts still work? → Not as well as before. Best for B2C (fitness, lifestyle brands), not B2B (coaching, consulting). Better alternative? → Boosted posts with DM automations (ex: “Comment ‘Blueprint' for a free training”). Rule of thumb: If it doesn't bring a direct return, it's not worth it. 7. AI in Business & Content Creation: What's Useful Right Now? AI is great for copywriting, DM automation, and content ideation. Not replacing human storytelling anytime soon. Best use case: Automating repetitive tasks to free up time. Final Thoughts & What to Do Next Tanner Chidester has built, scaled, and pivoted multiple businesses to seven and eight figures. His biggest lesson? Money alone won't fix your problems—but the right strategy will give you both freedom and financial success. Want to grow your business? Many experts and authors that reach out to me are frustrated that they are struggling to build a following. They often compare themselves to others and think they aren't connecting with people because of their persona, or their style, but that's not it. There is a reason that others, often less qualified, are reaching and engaging more people and in this show, I'm going to share what that is with you. In this show I'm covering: Why you aren't getting traction with your message. The secret to connecting with your audience. How to supercharge that connection. When ‘you' come into the equation. Steve Foerster, a finance professor and investment historian, to talk his latest book, Trailblazers, Heroes and Crooks: Stories to Make You a Smarter Investor. Steve shared insights into famous financial scandals, such as Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme, the Bre-X gold mining fraud, and the Salad Oil Swindle that almost toppled American Express. He highlighted key lessons from these events, including the importance of skepticism, recognizing red flags, and understanding how fraudsters exploit exclusivity and credibility to deceive. These historical stories underscore timeless lessons in vigilance and sound investment practices. Today we discuss... Steve Foerster, professor of finance and investment historian, discussed his background and books, including Trailblazers, Heroes, and Crooks and his work on the biography of Nobel Laureate Bill Sharpe. The psychology of exclusivity and trust in Madoff's scheme, including his reputation as NASDAQ chairman. The Bre-X mining scandal of the 1990s, detailing fraudulent gold sample salting, conspiracy theories surrounding Mike De Guzman, and the challenges of evaluating mining investments. Mark Twain's observation on mining, "a hole in the ground with a liar on top," was used to underscore skepticism in speculative industries. The 1960s Salad Oil Swindle, focusing on Tino De Angelis' fraudulent practices and their near-collapse of American Express. Buffett's significant investment in American Express, based on its strong reputation despite the scandal, resulted in a two-and-a-half-fold return within 18 months. Research and perseverance can lead to great returns, as Wall Street tends to sell indiscriminately during tough times. Warren Buffett's support of management during a crisis helped American Express recover and solidify its reputation. The tension between short-term profits and long-term value was central to Buffett's approach, focusing on long-term growth. Hetty Green, a 19th-century investor, was a pioneering value investor who predicted market trends and became a major player in railroads and mortgages. During the Panic of 1907, Hetty Green predicted the failure of a major trust company and later lent to New York City, preventing bankruptcy. Bobby Bonilla's deferred payment contract with the New York Mets showcased the importance of understanding time value of money and opportunity cost. The story of Cristiano Ronaldo's snubbing of Coca-Cola at a press conference led to a $4 billion market drop, but it was actually due to the stock's ex-dividend date, not his actions. The Coca-Cola stock drop was an example of correlation not equaling causation, teaching the importance of distinguishing between the two in investing. “I've been booked to do a fireside chat at a conference, have you got any tips?” This is a question I got a few weeks ago from one of my Green Room clients, and she actually had the event this week. In response I shared with her some tactics she could use before and during the event to ensure she influenced the direction of the conversation to where she could share her message effectively and make the most of the opportunity. This is something that you need to consider for any interview format, whether it's with the media, or a podcast interview and that's why I'm sharing some with you too. This year, on April 10th, scientists were finally able to do the unthinkable: they allowed humanity to look straight into the abyss of a super-massive black hole and take a photo like a tourist attraction! But even after these accomplishments, we still don't know much about black holes at all, since one of them has challenged the whole scientific community with new impossible feats. In the middle of July 2019, black holes puzzled astronomers once again. New observations were made possible, thanks to the famed Hubble telescope, by a team of European scientists. Their study showed that a relatively small black hole contradicts all our expectations by almost completely mimicking its much bigger siblings. This show was prompted by the question of a podcast listener, but reflected a recurring issue with people that I work with. My clients have written great books, become accomplished experts in their field and have a big message to share, but when it comes to sharing their views in person or on stage, a number of them begin to doubt themselves. It shows up in the content they share and how they share it, and it will end up undermining their authority, authenticity and the value and credibility of their message in the eyes of the audience. It also surfaces in the way that they approach gig outreach, sometimes making assumptions and barricading doors before they've even attempted to open them. Fortunately, I'm able to help them deal with this, and I want to help you too. That's why in this show, I'm going to share some ideas of why this might be happening based on my experience of working with many, many speakers, some new perspectives and some practical tools to get you out of the shackles of self-doubt. I want you to be bold, audacious and confident in sharing your message! Enjoy! What you'll learn: The recurring problem that a listener and others have with self-doubt. Space is full of mysteries that have remained unsolved for centuries. But recently, the cosmos has baffled the world with a new, scary abnormality. Apparently, something is tearing holes in the Milky Way, the galaxy that contains our Solar System!
In this recap episode, Amber is covering this week's highlights. On Monday, Matt and Micah explored the stark differences between advisors who smash their Big Hairy Audacious Goals (BHAGs) and those who remain stuck. Both groups start with excitement, but only those who embrace hard work and stick to a rigorous process succeed. The importance of having a consistent process was a major point. Believing that an external factor will magically change your situation is futile and avoidance isn't an option for success. On Thursday, Jamie dove into intuition in business decisions, particularly in team management. She explained deductive and inductive reasoning, linking intuition to the latter. Jamie advised trusting your gut, especially when it signals someone is a poor fit. If someone consistently feels off and you're waiting for inevitable conflict, it's time to let them go for everyone's benefit. Matt and Micah are breaking down the difference between actual goals and mere fantasies. Why do some financial advisors hit their big hairy audacious goals (BHAGs) while others just daydream? Spoiler: hard work, self-awareness, and a hefty dose of accountability. They emphasize that achieving real goals, unlike fantasies, requires the willingness to put in the hard work. Successful financial advisors don't just pat themselves on the back; they recognize their weaknesses and know where they need to improve. Matt and Micah also stress the importance of tracking progress. If you're not measuring your progress, you're slacking, because this helps identify where you need to pivot. And yes, even your free time should be somewhat productive—focus on activities that contribute to your personal and professional growth, not just your Netflix queue. In this episode of Capital Hacking, Kevin Taylor, delved into the power of mental capital and mindset by discussing key takeaways from the classic book "As a Man Thinketh" by James Allen. I highlighted the importance of positive thinking, the metaphor of the mind as a garden, and the impact of thoughts on physical health. I also emphasized the idea that circumstances do not define us but reveal our character, and how thoughts must be accompanied by actions to achieve goals. Additionally, I touched on the significance of having a clear vision and ideals to shape one's life, and the importance of thought control in finding inner peace. Through examples and anecdotes, I illustrated how mindset and psychology play a crucial role in personal growth and success. Join me next week for more insights on enhancing mental capital and creating a positive mindset to add value to the world around you. Remember, serenity comes from thought control.
