This week we spoke with the brilliantly talented Aleem Arif founder of the sustainable Canadian brand Bano eeMee. Aleem shares his thoughts on the introduction of alternative leathers into the fashion industry and how sustainable these really are, and how innovation in the Pakistani fashion industry can be encouraged through initiatives like fashion incubators. Aleem is the Winner of the best emerging fashion designer from North America in 2015, and he has presented his designs at Galleries Lafayette, Paris.

Coca Cola Pakistan may have found the way to tackle Pakistan's plastic crisis. As the mountains of rubbish and plastic form across the country, Coca Cola Pakistan's Director of Sustainability Communications and Public relations, Aisha Sarwari speaks about a proposed solution. This specific solution which used up ten tonnes of plastic seeks to reuse waste by transforming it into road! Hear what Aisha has to say and see why we were totally fascinated by the whole project.

Ghazi Taimoor who works as the head of professional education at LUMS, joined Fizza this week for a discussion that touches on how sustainable practices can play an important role in religious tourism, and why he cares about sustainability, how his personal experiences have influenced him to become more environmentally friendly. Ghazi has a background in accounting and management from the Warwick business school and a master's from Harvard in international education policy, as well as being a digital creator who creates content to promote social equity.

Lahore, a thriving bustling city of more than 11 million people was the most polluted city in November 2021, despite having environmental regulations and policies in place for the prevention of smog. This week's guest, the brilliantly informed Abid Omar sheds some much-needed light on why the air quality is so bad, and how we can start to take steps to ensure cleaner air. Abid is the founder of @pakairquality which monitors and collects air quality data, across major urban areas of Pakistan.

We speak to the brilliant @irteza who shows the significance of how consumers driving fast fashion is putting strain on our agriculture industry, through unsustainable actions such as forcefully growing cotton on infertile land, and pricing out the average farmer. Unfortunately, this episode due to technical faults has low sound quality. We hope to rerecord this later so @irteza's amazing insights can be more clearly understood.

What are the realities of wanting to own a fashionable wardrobe which is sustainable? What are the trade offs and why is it that people are drawn to fast fashion? We get a refreshingly real and authentic viewpoint from @sabahbanomalik who talks to us about her experience as a model and journalist living in pakistan. We look at how social media can be used to raise awareness in the #slowfashionmovement particularly looking at @generation_pk who are teaming up with influencers like @mish_behaves and why this is so important in raising awareness for slow fashion in Paksitan.

Pakistan desperately needs to change its relationship with nature. Fashion is a good place to start. Everything in fashion is rooted in nature. From the fabric to thread to dye and even inspiration. Our patterns, colours, shapes and textures are all derived directly from nature. So then why aren't we making better choices? This episode with @arslanarsuarsi is the first in a three part series surrounding fast fashion and conscious consumerism. Listen to @arslanarsuarsi make some amazing points on where we currently are and what needs to be done to start taking steps in the right direction.

Mahnoor is an IB PYP Reading Specialist at Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad. She works with students of Early Years to Grade 5 and talks about how she implements the SDGs into her teaching curriculum, and how she thinks this will impact these children in the future.
