It wasn't a music festival, a flash mob, or a medieval TikTok trend. It was a full-blown, weeks-long dancing epidemic that left hundreds of people physically unable to stop moving… until many of them literally danced themselves to death. The outbreak started when a woman known as Frau Troffea and her daughter Fräulein Emma Götz began to dance fervently and uncontrollably in a street in Strasbourg. This spiraled into mass hysteria (or something even stranger), as more and more people joined in, day after day, under the brutal summer heat. No food, no rest, no relief. Just nonstop dancing, collapsing bodies, and a city completely unable to explain what the hell was happening. In this episode, Kristen tells Ash about one of history's weirdest and most haunting phenomena: the Dancing Plague of 1518. Was it mass psychogenic illness? Religious panic? Poisoned bread? Or something darker lurking beneath the surface? Because serioulsy, how do you explain a situation where your body just… won't stop dancing? If you'd like to support my escape to Indonesia, check out the GOFUNDME :)Follow us on Instagram, where Ash is actually starting to post again! We'd love to see you in our Discord, come hang out!Audio editing by Gaytrice Perdue.

In this powerful sermon, Apostle Jim Raley delves into Luke 19, exploring the profound message of 'The King Who Cries.' Through a passionate interpretation, he reveals the depth of Jesus' compassion and the significance of His tears over Jerusalem. This sermon challenges the listener to reflect on their relationship with Jesus and the importance of carrying His burden for the lost. It is a call to move beyond superficial faith to a deeper, covenant-based worship and service.
More than a person; more than God. This Palm Sunday, we will reflect on how Unitarian Universalism might engage with this often-misunderstood theological idea.

Send me a DM here (it doesn't let me respond), OR email me: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.comToday I'm honored to introduce you all to: Ritualistic, religious and child sexual abuse survivor and overcomer, social media whistleblower and content creator, therapist and educator, award winning and renowned fashion designer, founder of Tarese Estelle Couture and Birds With a Feather, plant parent, passionate speaker and writer, and an incredible DID system sharing their story with the intent that others know they aren't alone and that hope is possible: Tarese Estelle & Co Born into the shadows in Sydney, Australia - then carried to the isolated strictures of Queensland, Tarese grew up as the eldest of eight in a world sealed by rigid religious doctrine. Her family believed they were part of ‘the chosen' - only 144,000 souls bound for heaven - while the rest of humanity languished in damnation. No birthdays, no Christmas, no play on the Sabbath; only rules, isolation, and heavy burdens placed on young shoulders. As a child, Tarese carried and took care of her siblings when her mother could not rise from illness, her innocence guarded by dissociation that turned horrors into distant, flickering glimpses she viewed through a wooden fence.Adolescence arrived as a tornado: depression like a suffocating fog, anxiety a relentless storm inside her chest, self-harm escalating to life-threatening extremes, to eating disorders, to further exploitation from the little bit of connection she had to the outside world. At age 14, she ran away, dreaming of escape through the only value she believed she possessed. But light pierced the darkness. In 2009, at 18, Terese stepped through the doors of Destiny Haven - a sanctuary of unconditional love, where volunteers poured their hearts into healing broken women. There, she learned to name her emotions, to face the flashbacks she once dismissed as imagination. Art therapy unveiled truths long buried; sewing awakened a dormant creativity. Birthdays, once forbidden, became celebrations of her existence. She discovered a God of grace, not judgment, and began weaving beauty from pain - transforming fabric into whimsical, ethereal gowns inspired by fairy tales she was never allowed to indulge in as a child. From there, her wings unfolded. She studied fashion design, launched incredible collections, collaborated with other renowned artists, was featured in iconic magazines, dressed icons, and created poignant campaigns. Runway shows, scholarships, ambassadorships - each step a defiant declaration: I am more than my scars.Today, Terese stands as a beacon of hope and light - a warrior whose scars are constellations guiding others home. She advocates fiercely for survivors, sharing her story to shatter stigmas, ignite hope, and prove that healing is not a destination but a courageous, ongoing journey. Some years ago, a simple car ride with my young nephew became something unexpected, a window into the deepest structure of the human heart. His endless questions, his wonder at everything from trees to passing strangers, revealed something we are all born with but often lose, what Luigi Giussani calls the religious sense. In this episode, we trace that childlike openness all the way to the Annunciation, where Our Lady, fully awake and receptive, encounters God in a way that awakens everything and demands a response. Drawing from Giussani, Thomas Aquinas, and Joseph Ratzinger, we explore how vocation is not something we construct, but something spoken to us, and how true freedom is not keeping options open, but giving ourselves completely to what is real and good. This is an episode about wonder, encounter, and the quiet, world-changing power of a single yes.
The Alliance for Civics in the Academy hosts "Building Civic Unity in a Religiously Diverse Democracy" with Eboo Patel, Robert George, Fr. Francisco Nahoe, and Josh Ober on March 18, 2026, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. PT. Religious diversity is a defining feature of contemporary American democracy, yet it raises persistent questions about how civic unity is cultivated in shared public life. How can institutions of higher education prepare students to engage constructively across religious difference while sustaining common democratic commitments? This webinar explores the role of civic education in a religiously diverse democracy, examining pedagogical approaches, institutional frameworks, and normative principles that support civic unity without erasing pluralism.

Episode SummaryIn this deeply compassionate and grounding episode of the Finding God Podcast, Keana explores what it means to heal from abuse that happened in religious environments spaces that were supposed to reflect God's love but instead became sources of fear, shame, or control. This conversation gently unpacks how spiritual abuse shows up, how it impacts our emotional and spiritual lives, and what it looks like to begin healing in a way that honors your pace, your story, and your safety.Keana also recaps last week's episode on recognizing legalism in the church, showing how legalism often becomes the doorway through which spiritual abuse enters a community. This episode offers clarity, validation, and hope for anyone who has ever felt spiritually disoriented or wounded by people who claimed to speak for God.Key TakeawaysAbuse is abuse even when it happens in a church or religious environment.Spiritual abuse often hides behind fear, shame, control, and misused scripture.Your emotional and spiritual reactions are valid and normal responses to trauma.Healing begins with naming what happened and separating God from harmful people. You are allowed to rebuild your faith slowly, gently, and at your own pace.God's love is nothing like the behavior of those who misrepresented Him.You deserve spiritual spaces that honor your humanity, boundaries, and voice.Reflection QuestionsWhat beliefs about God were shaped by fear rather than love?Where do you feel tension or peace when you think about your spiritual past? What practices or environments feel safe for you right now? What do you need in order to rebuild trust with yourself, with God, or with community?Resources MentionedJournaling prompts for processing spiritual traumaTrauma‑informed therapy and support optionsPractices for rebuilding spiritual rhythms gently and safelyListener ReminderYour healing matters. Your story matters. And God is not the voice that harmed you. Take your time, honor your pace, and know that you are not alone on this journey.
Religious formation of Faculty at Bishop Ryan School
Ryan and Alex dive into the Coptic Nag Hammadi text Pistis Sophia, a 3rd–4th century work that presents a radically different vision of Jesus Christ and the cosmos. Set 11 years after the resurrection, it portrays Jesus as a radiant being of light teaching his disciples, especially Mary Magdalene, about his journey through heavenly realms and the redemption of Sophia, a divine figure who fell into the darkness and must rise again through repentance. They unpack this deeply symbolic story as an allegory for humanity's fall into material existence and a blueprint for spiritual ascent, exploring themes of purification, enlightenment, and the hidden mysteries of the light.

Today's Promise: Romans 8:1 Shame, guilt, and condemnation seem to go hand in hand when it comes to religion. Religious people are often the most beaten down and guilt-ridden people around. Religion loves to make you feel ashamed, guilty, and worthless. There is no shame or condemnation for the followers of Christ. All your shame, guilt, and self-reproach disappeared when you made Jesus your Savior and Lord. In Christ, you stand before God clean and pure. Never allow the condemnation of religion to overshadow the forgiveness you have found in Christ.

The ongoing war between the U.S.-Israeli coalition and Iran is a battle between three nations of three different faiths—Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Religious rhetoric and imagery have been deployed on all sides in order to arouse public support, with the Republican administration in the U.S. making some less-than-subtle appeals to its evangelical Christian voter-base. However, opinion polls show that the war continues to be unpopular in the United States, and while many evangelicals continue to support Trump, the administration's attempt to frame the conflict as a holy war has been a cause of confusion and annoyance for other sections of the American public. To help us understand the complex relationship between war, faith, and American politics, producer Toby spoke to Dr. Andrew Shepherd, senior lecturer in theology at the University of Otago.

Send us a messageThe doctrine of the Rapture does not have to be defended; for it has been forever ratified in Heaven by the One Who is the Resurrection and the Life. And by the power of the Holy Spirit, those who have been sealed in Him, already know and believe in its rescuing power – understanding that the Father's Wrath will never fall upon the ones His Son has purchased with His Own Holy, Precious, and Priceless Blood. The Word of God confirms itself – Precept upon Precept, Precept upon Precept – Line upon line, Line upon line – a little here and a little there (Isaiah 28:10). And yet, as we grow ever nearer to that momentous “Catching Away” when we will meet our Savior in the air, we are being beckoned by the Holy Spirit to declare its reality - as encouragement to those who are trusting the Lord, and longing for His appearing - and as a warning to scoffers to make sure His calling and choosing them, while there is still time to do so.For Jesus comes quickly – and the time to be ready – is now!Support the showVisit our website: https://agapelightministries.com/

1. Kathy Hochul (New York Governor) – Economic Hypocrisy Hochul previously encouraged conservatives and wealthy job creators to leave New York. After large numbers of high‑income residents relocated, she now publicly urges wealthy individuals to return. This is hypocrisy—rejecting wealth creators ideologically while depending on them financially to sustain social programs. Left‑wing governance is hostile to success yet reliant on taxing it. 2. James Talarico (Texas Democratic Senate Candidate) – Religious & Cultural Contradictions Democrats selected Talarico to appeal to Christians because of his seminary background. His theological statements (e.g., describing God as “non‑binary”) are radical reinterpretations of Christianity. Additional Points: Supports abortion access for transgender individuals. Expresses discomfort with traditional symbols like the American flag and the Christian cross. Advocates reducing meat consumption and runs a vegan campaign in barbecue‑centric Texas. 3. Joe Kent (Former Trump Administration Official) – Foreign Policy Reversal Kent resigned in protest of U.S. military action against Iran, blaming Israeli influence. His past statements strongly supported aggressive action against Iran and praised Trump’s Iran policy. He later suggests (without evidence) that Israel may be threatening President Trump. Media reports suggest he may have leaked classified information. 4. Cesar Chavez (Labor Icon) – Moral Hypocrisy and Historical Revision Chavez has long been revered by the left as a civil‑rights and labor hero. A New York Times exposé alleges Chavez sexually abused minors over many years. The Left has: Allegedly concealed or ignored these accusations because Chavez aligned with their politics. Continued honoring him with statues, street names, and official recognition. Ideology was prioritized over justice and child protection. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. When the externals of spiritual practice become the focus, we can forget what they were meant to uncover—becoming religious while losing touch with the spiritual. In this episode, a powerful insight from Albert Einstein leads into a deep exploration of Bhakti Yoga, Vedic wisdom, and the nature of consciousness. Through a story from the Srimad Bhagavatam, the contrast between the ritualistic brāhmaṇas (priests) and their wives reveals a timeless truth: while the learned can miss Krishna through absorption in technique, those with simple, sincere devotion recognize Him immediately. This conversation brings spiritual philosophy into real life, showing how meditation, ritual, and yoga are meant to awaken love, humility, and devotion—not become ends in themselves. ******************************************************************** LOVE THE PODCAST? In this week's conversation between Dr. James Emery White and co-host Alexis Drye, they discuss some recent major court decisions that put parental authority and responsibility in the spotlight. The first was a Supreme Court ruling that California schools must notify the parents if a student expresses their desire to change their gender. The second was a case in Georgia, where a father was found guilty of murder and manslaughter for the crime committed by his son; guilty because he failed to heed clear warning signs in his son's behavior. Episode Links Dr. White wrote a recent blog on this topic titled, “Parental Rights and Responsibilities,” which you can read HERE. He also referenced another blog that he wrote called “The New Attack on Parenting,” which you can read HERE. And then here are two recent headlines that you can read for more information about both court cases referenced above: James Romoser, “Supreme Court Says California Schools Should Notify Parents About Student Gender Changes,” The Wall Street Journal. Rick Rojas and Johnny Kauffman, “Father's Murder Conviction in School Attack Puts New Onus on Parents,” The New York Times. Another recent case from the Supreme Court awarded parents $1.5M over LGBTQ books saying that parents should have “the final say” on their children's education. You can read the article titled “Religious parents awarded $1.5M after Supreme Court win in LGBTQ+ books case“ HERE. Dr. White spoke of the importance of the role of parents in the lives of their children; specifically, that they need to be involved, informed and in charge. He has incredibly helpful messages that he's given at Mecklenburg Community Church under the banner of “Marriage and Family,” which you can find HERE. It would also be helpful to listen to the installments of a series simply titled, “Gender.” Finally, if you've missed past podcast episodes related to parents and children, we'd encourage you to go back and listen to these episodes: CCP176: On Parents and Grandparents, CCP170: On Teens and Their Online World, CCP161: On “Adolescence”, CCP98: On Generation Alpha and CCP60: On Gentle Parenting. For those of you who are new to Church & Culture, we'd love to invite you to subscribe (for free of course) to the twice-weekly Church & Culture blog and check out the Daily Headline News - a collection of headlines from around the globe each weekday. We'd also love to hear from you if there is a topic that you'd like to see discussed on the Church & Culture Podcast in an upcoming episode. On Today's Show: Dennis explores the age-old debate between spirituality and religion. He challenges listeners to consider whether being spiritual without being religious is a valid choice, or if it's just a cop-out from the demands of organized faith. Through conversations with callers, including Jose, Chris, and Kent, Dennis delves into the importance of community, moral guidelines, and the role of scripture in shaping our values. He argues that spirituality without religion can be a narcissistic pursuit, lacking the accountability and shared values that come with being part of a community.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Today On The Eric Metaxas Show, Eric reflects on his time in Washington with the President's Commission for Religious Liberty, talks with David Peters about the mission behind Ten Boom Coffee and the legacy of Corrie ten Boom, and then sits down with John Zmirak and James Lindsay for a wide ranging conversation on Catholic integralism, religious liberty, anti Israel rhetoric, and why they believe a growing movement on the right is deeply at odds with the American founding.
