In the first week of our Abide series, we explore what it means to have true fellowship with Christ and walk in the light. Beginning with 1 John 1:1-10, we see the foundational truth that Jesus is the eternal Word, the one who was from the beginning (John 1:1-5, Genesis 1:1). The call to abide in Him is a call to repentance, as Martin Luther famously said, "When our Lord and Master Jesus Christ said 'Repent,' he meant that the entire life of believers should be repentance." Join us as we dive into the beauty of confession, forgiveness, and the joy of abiding in Christ. For more information about Integrity Church, visit our website, http://liveintegritychurch.org Connect with us on social media throughout the week to stay up to date on events and things happening at Integrity! This week on CounterSpin: The New York Times says that Amnesty International recently became “the first major international human rights organization to accuse Israel of carrying out genocide in Gaza.” That makes sense if you ignore the other human rights groups and international bodies that have said Israel's actions in the wake of Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023 meet that definition. The Times account notes that genocide is hard to prove because it involves showing the specific intent to destroy a group, “in whole or in part” — something that, they say, Israeli leaders have persistently denied is their intent in Gaza. Declarations like that by Israeli President Isaac Herzog that “it is an entire nation out there that is responsible” appear nowhere in the piece. The Times tells readers that Amnesty's “contention” and “similar allegations” have been “at the heart of difficult debates about the war around the world.” So far, 14 countries have joined or signaled they will join South Africa's genocide case against Israel in the World Court. Gallup polling from March found that the majority of the U.S. public — 55%, up from 45% last November — say they disapprove of Israel's siege of Gaza. And that support for Israel is dropping among all political affiliations. A May survey from a private Israeli think tank says nearly a third of Jewish people in the U.S. agree with the charge of “genocide,” and 34% view college campus protests as anti-war and pro-peace, compared with 28% who see them as primarily “anti-Israel.” More recently, the Israel Democracy Institute reports its survey from late November, finding that the majority of Jews in Israel — 52% — oppose settlement in Gaza, while 42% express support. There is absolutely debate around the world about Israel's actions; outlets like the Times make that debate more “difficult” by misrepresenting it. While not the first to ask us to see the assault on Palestinians as genocide, Amnesty's report offers an opening, for those journalists who are interested, to ask why some are so invested in saying it isn't. Iman Abid is the director of advocacy and organizing at the U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR). We talk with her today. Plus Janine Jackson takes a quick look at recent press coverage of the minimum wage.   The post Iman Abid on Israeli Genocide appeared first on KPFA.

Yenifer, from Provincia De Panamá, Panama is the lucky listener setting out the first question for discussion today -  “Are we brainwashed into thinking working hard gets us wherever we want? Is that just a form of enslavement? If we were taught to have a mindset of working smarter, would that impact those trying to keep us in our seats? We're told to get educated, get better jobs, work harder, yet the hours get longer for little reward”. William posits that the essence of productivity lies in working smarter—an approach that inherently encapsulates working harder by virtue of focused and efficient energy utilisation. Stuart, on the other hand, scrutinises the very notion of hard work, likening it to a form of modern servitude. He argues that the affluent are not the ones toiling; rather, they orchestrate the labour of others. Stuart advocates for self-employment as the epitome of working smartly, challenging the conventional wisdom that equates hard work with success. He contends that employment can sometimes stifle one's creative vitality. In their dialogue, Stuart and William explore the dynamics of labour and intellect. They deliberate on the distribution of one's vigour throughout the day and confront the prevailing workplace culture that often expects employees to render uncompensated overtime. William's resolution is a commitment to discovering methods to enhance efficiency without necessarily increasing effort. Stuart's resolution is a call to break free from habitual conformity, urging a re-evaluation of one's work patterns. Abid, Jendouba Governorate, Tunisia sets the second question today - “Should we be focusing on making the world seas and oceans drinkable as a way of counteracting the climate crisis? Empires have been built of lesser concepts. Will that be the next of Earth's assets humanity fights over?” William expresses that the desalination of seawater, while a technological marvel, is an endeavour marked by high energy consumption. He advocates for a more judicious use of existing freshwater reserves as an alternative. Stuart expands by suggesting the extensive use of water in industrial processes such as the production of cement and concrete, as well as in agricultural practices like cattle rearing, locks water away in the processes. He posits that water is poised to become a contentious asset, a catalyst for conflict among human societies. Stuart suggests that the oceans and seas may hold the keys to addressing the climate crisis. However, he cautions that even with advancements rendering desalination more sustainable, the presence of microplastics remains a significant concern. The conversation between William and Stuart underscores the complexity of water management in the context of environmental sustainability and industrial demands. It reflects a broader conversation about the balance between technological progress and ecological stewardship. This podcast's overall themes are nature, philosophy, climate, the human condition, sustainability, and social justice.  What do you make of this discussion? We are back with another insightful episode the Compassionate Capitalist Show that will challenge the way you think about traditional industries and the transformative power of technology. This episode features a thought-provoking conversation between our host Karen Rands and a special guest, Faisal Abid, the innovative co-founder of Eirene Cremations, about an inspired entrepreneur's quest to identify a problem and crafting a tech solution that can disrupt an industry, solve inefficiencies and produce a better outcome and experience for the consumers within that industry. No we aren't talking about healthcare, as we know that is an industry that is fraught with inefficiencies and needs to produce a better outcome and experience for the consumers / patients.  This is on the other end of the spectrum in what we are calling 'death tech' to transform the funeral industry and 'Death Care', specifically bringing efficiency and an improved sales process experience when choosing cremation and aquamation for a loved one that has passed. ➤ Karen dives deep with Faisal into how Eirene Cremations is changing the death care industry, offering families peace and comfort through technology during the toughest of times. Tune in to understand how Faisal used technology, specifically Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Voice Recognition, to reshape end-of-life services. Episode Highlights: ✦ The Beginnings: Learn about Faisal's daring decisions and early challenges shaped his path to success.  First with the decision leave college to pursue his entrepreneur aspirations, and later, his leap from corporate software engineer to industry disruptor. ✦ Behind the Scenes: Discover how they used what is best describd as 'the lean startup model' in launching Eirene Cremations in Ontario starting with in depth customer discovery and business process management, manually documenting every aspect of the customer experience, the regulatory and paperwork requirements before writing the first piece of code. Then how the pivotal role of their proprietary, internally built, software enable the company's rapid growth in Canada, and positioned them to expand in to the US in 2024. ✦ A Market Revolution: Hear Faisal recount the tale of how a 'coffee meetup' uncovered a market inefficiency and the potential to transform the customer experience in a stagnant, slow to change and innovate industry that was ripe for disruption. It is a fascinating story to hear how an  idea to solve a problem, that fundamental "what if" moment, evolved into a solution, tapping Faisal's female co-founder's industry knowledge and his ow mastery of software tech and business process management to disrupt a stagnant, slow-to-adopt industry to deliver a tech-savvy, customer-oriented service.  ✦ The Personal Touch: Despite the perception of a web commerce site and tele-video meetings seemingly to be impersonal, the result is exactly the opposite.  Because of their impressive behind the scenes technology, Eirene Cremations can focus on the essence of its business - service and support for grieving families. They use their proprietary 'funeral OS' technology so that they can focus on the customer with a personal experience that helps families make arrangements for their loved ones, any time of day, and even if they are hundreds of miles away.  ✦ Future Frontiers: Faisal gives us a glimpse into potential international expansions and the cool, cutting-edge tech his team is working on for 2024. This episode is more than a success story; it's a masterclass in innovation, strategic scaling, and leveraging tech for genuine service improvements. Eirene Cremations is setting a new standard for the funeral industry, and we're privileged to share this journey with you. As always, your feedback is what shapes our content. After listening, let us know your thoughts on how technology can reinvent traditional industries, the value of realizing the customer discovery process to frame the solution, and the patience to truly understand the problem before building the technology to solve it. Are there other sectors you think could benefit from a similar disruption? Faisal's journey is one marked by a relentless pursuit of innovation and a mission to transform industries that have traditionally been slow to adopt technology. As Co-Founder & CTO of Eirene Cremations, he's at the forefront of leveraging cutting-edge tech to revolutionize traditional industries.-- in this case - Disrupting Death Care !!  His journey is marked by a unique set of circumstances and choices: quitting college to pursue a passion as an entrepreneur, his choice to be a student of many innovators, his profound tenure within Google and decision to forge back into the world of entrepreneurism leading him to meet is co-founder Mallory Greene.  Learn more at http://eirenecremations.com  About Karen Rands: Karen Rands is the leader of the Compassionate Capitalist Movement™ and author of the best selling investment primer: Inside Secrets to Angel Investing: Step-by-Step Strategies to Leverage Private Equity Investment for Passive Wealth Creation.  She is an authority on creating wealth through investing and building successful businesses that can scale and exit rich.  Karen is an enthusiastic speaker on these topics for corporations, economic development groups, angel investor networks, and professional  business networks.   About Karen https://www.karenrands.co/about-karen-rands/ Visit http://Kugarand.com and learn more about the Compassionate Capitalist Wealth Maximizer System™.  Read about the Due Diligence Services, Investor Relations, Capital Strategies, Capital Access, and Capital Readiness Coaching serviced offered by her firm, Kugarand Capital Holdings.  Or use http://KarenRands.co and get your free gift and get on Karen's mail list.  The Compassionate Capitalist Show™ is a Podcast on YouTube and available on all major podcast players.  Please visit and subscribe and share.  http://bit.ly/linkCSS  Social Media links can be found here as well.  It is great to watch Karen and her guests live, in action.  The whole library of podcasts and interviews since 2020 can be found there by category or chronological on Youtube.

AriZona Iced Tea is a ubiquitous product in the U.S., but you didn't learn about it because of a flashy ad campaign. "We have never had a billboard," proclaimed AriZona Beverage Company's CEO Abid Rizvi. "I will say this with almost 100% confidence: you will never see an AriZona billboard in Times Square." Instead, the way AriZona has marketed itself is by simply having a presence at the store. AriZona judges its products on three dimensions: does a product look good? Does it taste good? And is it priced fair? According to Rizvi, it's those three guiding principals that have led to AriZona's success. Rizvi joined this week's Modern Retail Podcast and spoke about the brand's history and its plans for the future. AriZona first launched in 1992 as a side hustle to co-founder Don Vultaggio's distribution business. Vultaggio formulated some iced tea and, through his distribution contacts, was able to get shelf space in some stores. Things snowballed from there -- with AriZona becoming one of the main competitors to players like Snapple. One revenue estimate puts the iced tea business alone at $2 billion in annual revenue. But iced tea isn't AriZona's only product. The company has expanded into other areas like fruit snacks and, most recently, hard iced tea. It's these ambitions -- along with international expansions -- that Rizvi, who became chief executive in 2016, oversees. But even when launching new products or going into different categories, the thesis has remained the same. "What I can tell you is: globally, no matter where you go in the world, people like good-tasting beverages," Rizvi said. With that focus on product, AriZona has traditionally shied away from expensive marketing gimmicks. Instead, according to Rizvi, the company's most important goal is making a product that tastes good and unique -- as well as has a unique branding that catches people's eyes in stores. "People are not buying any particular brand because they saw a Super Bowl ad," Rizvi said.

This week on Inclusive Collective, startup advisor and advocate, Abid Siddiqui, chats with Nadia & Rob about accelerator and incubator programs designed for founders, how the government strives to be forward thinking in the entrepreneurial space and his observations on inclusion in the startup ecosystem. About Abid: Abid has over 15 years of experience working across finance, commercial strategy and operations, and product management. He currently serves as a strategic advisor to the innovation division at the Biomedical Research & Development Authority (BARDA), which is part of the US federal government's pandemic and emergency response team.
