Episode 322 - “When You Miss a Version of Yourself That No Longer Exists”Sometimes the person you miss the most… is someone you used to be. In this episode, Michelle and Scott explore the quiet grief of outgrowing an old version of yourself. The one who had different dreams, different roles, or simply lived in a different season of life. This is a thoughtful conversation about honoring who you were, embracing who you're becoming, and making peace with the chapters that have come to an end.Keeping Your Sh*t Together in a Stressed World is a podcast hosted by Michelle Post, MA, LMFT and Scott Grossberg, JD, CLC, CCH, NLP, and is 30 minutes of raw, irreverent, and results-oriented discussion with one purpose in mind . . . to help you cope, thrive, and survive the craziness that's going on in the world. As a reminder, our “Get Your Sh*t Together” Home Retreat can be found here:http://thinkingmagically.com/retreatReplays of prior episodes can be found at:https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/scott-grossbergYou can also join our Facebook group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/keepingystMichelle Post can be reached at michelle@postinternationalinc.com http://postinternationalinc.com

Mike's Minute: The cost of living "crisis" no longer exists

It turns out a lot is in a name. Stats NZ gave us the latest household living-costs price indexes. This is what we pay for stuff. This is the cost of our living or, as is more often than not referred to by the media and the miserable, the "cost of living crisis". In that name, "the cost of living crisis", lies a lot of our problems. And a lot of our problems lie in our attitude. The "cost of living crisis" no longer exists. It arrived in Covid and it roughly finished when inflation dropped back to a more orderly level. Now this is not to say things are perfect, or brimming, or bullish. It's just that it's not as bad as it was, nor indeed anywhere close. But we've decided the "cost of living crisis" has stuck. It makes us feel justified in moaning and it gives some political operators ammunition. The actual increase in our cost of living was 3.2%. That's actually not bad. It's not great, but it's not bad and just about in the Reserve Bank band. If you take out petrol, which has nothing to do with us, it would have been way lower. What was way lower was the interest rate costs on the mortgage. See, not everything is going up. We hear a lot about power and rates, and rightly so, but little about the mass saving that has arrived in our bank accounts by paying interest rates that by any historic reading are quite low. Like all stories your individual circumstances matter; how much petrol you use, what your income is, what industry you are in, what sort of pay rise you got, etc. They are in fact, the majority of people you know, doing fine. They have plentiful work, they are well paid, they have savings, take holidays, wish the power bill was cheaper but, by and large, life is decent and there is no crisis. It's getting close to the time that if we can get the war out of the way, the oil at about $70 a barrel consistently, and renewable power supply dropping generation prices, we will actually arrive economically at a pretty good spot. At 3.2% with a war, we are close to being maybe 2% without one. And that is what they call a sweet spot. All that's left is for those obsessed with the negativity of a crisis to recognise that it isn't. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Most fast-growth companies don't stall because the founder isn't working hard. They stall because the business has strategy, but no integration layer connecting leadership, operations, and execution. In this episode, Michelle Nolting (Aligned Empire), a Strategic Integration Architect, breaks down the Integration Gap in fast-growth firms and the signals that your company is stuck in reactive mode: CEO bottlenecks, disconnected initiatives, and “consultant fatigue.” She walks through what she does differently: Strategic Integration at Speed, including her Strategic Integration Audit (a fixed-scope diagnostic delivered in 14 days) designed for Founders and CEOs of $5M–$50M companies. If your leadership team is busy but momentum feels heavy, this conversation shows how to move from reactive fires to architected momentum-without adding bureaucracy.Support the show

Zillow is seeing “signs of life” emerging in the housing market. Strong demand, days pending hitting pre-pandemic levels, and serious cash flow in specific markets. How long will this last, and what happens when new construction completions fall off a cliff in the near future? Will rents and home prices reverse, going from stable (and even falling) to rising as demand outpaces supply even more? Orphe Divounguy, Zillow Senior Economist, is back to share the most up-to-date housing market data. Orphe brings good news—sales are increasing, demand is surprisingly strong, and a recovery (albeit fragile) for the housing market is underway. Some markets are seeing a drastic increase in sales; others are seeing almost unbelievably strong cash flow (Orphe is talking $1,000/month), so which markets are which? Finally, how long will this last? We keep talking about buyers getting discounts off of list price or serious seller concessions, but are we months or years away from this ending? With multifamily supply about to see a serious dropoff, the demand for housing (and rentals) could get even higher. Orphe breaks it all down! In This Episode We Cover The housing markets currently seeing strong cash flow even at list price (up to $1,000/month cash flow!) Markets with the most home sales and why they're beating many other major metros Why rent and home prices could “firm” up once this happens in the housing market No escaping this housing supply shortage? In this episode of Protect It All, host Aaron Crow welcomes back Lesley Carhart for a fascinating conversation about why decades-old malware like Conficker continues to infect operational technology (OT) environments around the world. Drawing on nearly two decades of industrial incident response experience, they share real-world stories from the front lines of critical infrastructure, explaining why legacy systems, operational constraints, and workforce shortages continue to make remediation incredibly challenging. The discussion goes far beyond "just patch it," exploring the difficult risk decisions organizations face when uptime, safety, and cybersecurity all compete for priority. Aaron and Lesley also examine one of the industry's most pressing issues: the growing shortage of OT cybersecurity talent and the need to rebuild foundational technical skills for the next generation of defenders.  Key Learnings:  Why malware like Conficker still exists in modern OT environments The unique challenges of removing malware from industrial control systems Why patching isn't always possible in operational technology How legacy infrastructure creates long-term cybersecurity risk The growing OT cybersecurity skills gap - and how the industry can address it Practical lessons from real-world industrial incident response Key Moments:  05:47 Challenges with Old Industrial Systems 06:58 Struggles with malware cleanup 11:02 Challenges in Cyber Security Careers 16:19 Dealing with malware spread 17:53 Managing infection risk long-term 23:04 Challenges with nuclear hardware upgrades 27:05 Training the Next Tech Generation 29:33 Importance of Computer Basics 34:04 Discovering hidden technical issues 37:01 Troubleshooting in industrial environments 39:10 Malware and botnets era 42:20 Developing low-touch security solutions Whether you're responsible for manufacturing, utilities, energy, transportation, or any critical infrastructure environment, this episode provides practical insight into one of OT cybersecurity's longest-running challenges. Tune in to discover why yesterday's malware is still creating today's biggest industrial cybersecurity problems - and what organizations can do about it. About the guest :  Lesley Carhart is a Principal Industrial Incident Responder at Dragos and a recognized expert in OT and industrial cybersecurity. With nearly two decades of experience in incident response, digital forensics, and threat hunting, they help organizations defend critical infrastructure from cyber threats targeting industrial control systems. The episode that started it all.In my very first interview as host of ClassHorrorCast, I was fortunate enough to spend over two hours talking horror with The Blair Witch Project co-creator and director Eduardo Sánchez.Looking back, I was inexperienced, asked way too many questions and probably kept Eduardo talking far longer than I should have but he was incredibly generous with his time and stories, helping shape what ClassHorrorCast would eventually become.Over the years we stayed in touch, exchanged some very cool gifts and remained connected through our shared love of horror cinema. In this wide-ranging conversation we discuss The Blair Witch Project, found footage horror, Seventh Moon, the fantastic Bigfoot film Exists, the criminally underrated Lovely Molly and much more.Whether you know these stories already or are hearing them for the first time, this conversation remains one of my favourite episodes we've ever recorded. The episode that started it all, and Eduardo returns to ClassHorrorCast in 2026.For more of my content or to grab a copy of my book - CLICK HEREBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/class-horror-cast-horror-movie-podcast--4295531/support.

What Investment Bankers Know About Buying Businesses That Regular Buyers Will Never Figure Out Exists with Kyle Brown

Most people buying businesses are looking for the obvious. The obvious growth. The obvious profit. The obvious opportunity. That's exactly why they miss the best deals. Kyle Brown spent years in investment banking and private equity evaluating acquisitions before ever buying a business himself. And what he learned was simple: The businesses that look the safest aren't always the best investments. And the businesses that look broken aren't always broken. When Kyle came across an ecommerce business that was barely breaking even, most buyers would have walked away. Declining performance. Frustrated owners. Uncertain future. On paper, it looked risky. But Kyle wasn't looking at the same things everyone else was. In this episode, Jaryd sits down with Kyle to unpack how investment bankers evaluate opportunities, how private equity investors think about risk, and how to value a business when traditional formulas stop working. They discuss why so many buyers become obsessed with multiples, how distressed businesses can create outsized returns, and the operational changes that helped turn a struggling acquisition back into a profitable company. But perhaps the biggest lesson is this: Buying a business isn't about finding perfection. It's about seeing something everyone else has missed. Most buyers never learn how to do that. Kyle did.

Have you ever wondered, “Why is this so hard to let go of when I know it is not right for me?”. In part 8 of our relationship series, we explore one of the most disorienting emotional experiences in relationships: The moment you realize you are not just losing a person, but a future you built in your mind.In this episode, we talk about what happens when clarity finally cuts through hope, and why that moment often feels worse before it feels better. We explore the quiet grief of realizing someone is exactly who they've been showing you, and the exhaustion of holding on to the version of the relationship you wanted it to become. We also go deeper into something many people don't have language for: ambiguous loss. That confusing space where nothing fully ended, but something still feels gone. Situationships, emotionally unavailable partners, and relationships without clear closure can leave us grieving something that never fully materialized, which is often the hardest kind of grief to name. From there, we unpack the difference between acceptance and settling, and what it actually means to see reality clearly without abandoning yourself in the process. And finally, we look at what becomes possible when you stop spending all your energy hoping, fixing, and waiting, and start redirecting that energy back into your own life.Get 20% off today at https://aquatru.com with promo code SHTCEDownload HILY Dating App from the App Store or Google Play, or visit https://hily.go.link/d31uDDISCLAIMER: This podcast offers information for educational and entertainment purposes only and is not a substitute for professional advice. Send me a DM here (it doesn't let me respond), OR email me: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.comToday I'm so honored to have back on the show for a second time: Masonic Ritual Abuse Victim, Survivor and now Whistleblower for the first time, intuitive empath, entrepreneur, public speaker and improv comedian, biofeedback facilitator and educator, clean farming and nature lover, and an incredible hero coming forward to advocate for whistleblower and survivor protection and safety and to do everything in her power to facilitate the change she wishes to see in the world: Allison AdamsA little bit about Allison in case you're new here, missed her riveting first episode, or need a little recap:Long before tragedy found her, Allison had already forged a remarkable path. Diagnosed with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy as a child, she refused to be defined by it. For 45 years she mastered her condition through unwavering commitment to clean food, restorative sleep, mindfulness, and inner sovereignty. This wasn't mere management—it was her superpower, a disciplined daily practice that kept her grounded and vibrant. An outsider by choice and circumstance, she lived openly and trustingly. But that openness was brutally exploited. In April 2020, on the patio of an acquaintance named Marty - a James Beard-nominated chef connected to a network that was targeting her through sophisticated grooming tactics - Allison was drugged with at least four substances. She lost ten harrowing hours to ritualistic horror: violation, strangulation, hazing, and terror orchestrated by a sophisticated, organized network. Yet even in that altered state, her decades of biofeedback training activated. While her body appeared unconscious, her consciousness remained hyperaware. Piece by piece, Allison gracefully reconstructed her truth and healing the same way she managed her epilepsy growing up.Allison's awakening turned personal devastation into fierce purpose. She watched brave whistleblowers step forward only to face targeting, financial desperation, illness, and silencing: These stories ignited a righteous anger in Allison. She realized disclosure isn't just dramatic testimonies - it is everyday survivors like her speaking out, and it demands community protection. There is no witness protection for these crimes. Society often blames victims, dismisses their stories as too outrageous, or changes the channel because the darkness is uncomfortable. Allison challenges us to do something - share, like, comment, donate five dollars instead of a coffee, offer a skill, send encouragement. In her own words: “Do what you can, but do something.” Her own story reveals how insidious and organized the darkness is. Allison was not born into a multi-generational cult family - an important truth that shows anyone can be hunted and lured. Yet she refuses silence. Her testimony is unique yet unifying - detailing not only the horror, but her path of remembering, healing protocols drawn from a lifetime of self-mastery, and her battle cry for community accountability. She demands we stop losing children through these corrupt systems, that we surround survivors, amplify their voices, and create real support so no one faces this alone.Allison embodies the rarest heroism: quiet, relentless, and transformative. She proves survival is not passive endurance but active rising - speaking, organizing, and loving the vulnerable more fiercely because she knows the cost. Rooted in inner discipline, awareness, and unyielding courage, she has become a force of justice and healing. Bodycam footage from the United Kingdom has turned Henry Nowak's death from a local outrage into a national indictment. The footage appears to show officers handcuffing an 18-year-old stabbing victim, dismissing his pleas for help, and treating him as the suspect while he bled to death. Nowak, an 18-year-old from Essex, reportedly told officers, “I can't breathe,” and “I've been stabbed.” Officers mocked him, denied that he had been injured, and debated whether they had any obligation to check. The case has drawn comparisons to George Floyd in the United States. The comparison is imperfect, but the contrast is obvious: In Nowak's case, the police had every reason to believe the man on the ground needed urgent medical care. The Acquisition Framework Billionaires Use That 99% Of Online Business Buyers Don't Know Exists with Brad Sugars

What if the way you've been thinking about buying a business has been costing you money before you've even made an offer? Not a little money. A lot. The kind of difference that turns a three-times multiple into a thirty-seven-times multiple. The kind of gap that separates someone who buys themselves a job from someone who builds a portfolio that works without them. Brad Sugars has been on the right side of that gap for thirty years. Founder of ActionCoach - the world's number one business coaching franchise across 80 countries. Over a million business owners coached. Sixteen books written. And a personal acquisition track record built on one thing most buyers never develop: a framework. He once paid double what every other bidder offered. And still got the business for ten percent of what he knew it was actually worth. Because he could see value nobody else was looking at. That's not luck. That's a system. In this episode, Jaryd sits down with Brad to unpack the acquisition philosophy that the top one percent use - and almost nobody at entry level even knows exists. You'll learn: The difference between a job buyer, financial buyer, and strategic buyer - and why most people are stuck in the wrong category their entire career Why 60% of businesses listed for sale never sell, and how to exploit that fact The 50-10-3-1 rule every serious buyer needs to understand before looking at a single listing How to use vendor financing, share swaps, and capital injection to acquire without a war chest Why Brad asks "are you looking for investors?" instead of "are you looking to sell?" - and why that one shift changes everything The three things to audit the moment you take ownership - and why missing one will bleed you dry The due diligence mistakes that kill deals, crater offers, and send serious buyers running And the one line that should be on every buyer's wall: The deal of the century comes along every week. Don't fall in love with the business. Fall in love with the deal. Most buyers skip the process, buy the dream, and wonder why the numbers never add up. This episode is the antidote.

A buyer in your niche just picked their SaaS partner. It wasn't you, and you never knew the deal was happening. In this episode I break down what Jay McBain, the most quoted channel analyst in the world, told me about the 28 moments that now decide every considered purchase, and why the deal is usually won or lost at moments 10 through 12, long before a salesperson knows it exists. I explain why waiting for the platform to send you a lead is finished, and I walk through the exact buying journey of a Salesforce buyer who books a call with a partner she has never spoken to. If you feel invisible while smaller, sharper partners keep landing the work you should be winning, this one is for you.Resources and LinksJay McBain on The Paul Higgins Podcast: Episode 683 - Get Specific, Get Rich, or Get Out with Jay McBainNeed help with your WHO and WHAT decisions? Have you ever found life moving so fast you barely have time to remember you have a soul?  What if all that spiritual work you've done is quietly holding you together in those times, even when your spirit seems like a distant concept? In this livestream, Kara Goodwin explores one of the most comforting truths of the spiritual path: your spiritual practice doesn't disappear when life gets chaotic. Every meditation session, every moment of soul connection, every act of spiritual discipline builds a reservoir that carries you through the storms you don't see coming. When life goes into overdrive and your regular practice feels out of reach, that reservoir is what sustains you.  Kara shares her own personal experience from the last few days, when life accelerated into a blur, and how the cumulative effect of her spiritual growth quietly held her through without her even realizing it. In this conversation: ✨ Why consistency in your spiritual practice pays off in unexpected ways ✨ How spiritual growth creates a "carry-through" effect during life's most overwhelming seasons ✨ The difference between active spiritual discipline and being carried by your practice ✨ How to trust your spiritual awakening journey even when you can't actively show up for it Whether you're in a deep season of spiritual transformation or just trying to survive a crazy week, your soul work pays dividends.
