On this episode of the "Reel Review" Kevin and John will be taking a look at the live action adaptation of a Anime & Manga classic "Alita: Battle Angel" When Alita (Rosa Salazar) awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize, she is taken in by Dr. Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg shell is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious history while her street-smart new friend Hugo (Keean Johnson) offers instead to help trigger her memories. But it is only when the deadly and corrupt forces that run the city come after Alita that she discovers a clue to her past - she has unique fighting abilities that those in power will stop at nothing to control. If she can stay out of their grasp, she could be the key to saving her friends, her family and the world she's grown to love. Will The Reel Movie Guys be mesmerized by the Sci-Fi beauty and grace of this film? We're here to talk about “Alita: Battle Angel” that has some interesting questions about sentience and self-ownership among other fun angles. Our guest is Alex who had joined us in the past for the musical rendition of “Les Miserables” and this is a suggestion on his part. Set several centuries in the future, the abandoned Alita is found in the scrapyard of Iron City by Ido, a compassionate cyber-doctor who takes the unconscious cyborg Alita to his clinic. When Alita awakens, she has no memory of who she is, nor does she have any recognition of the world she finds herself in. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious past. Join us next week as we head back to the jungle to take on a Kubrick classic, “Full Metal Jacket” with our film connoisseur friend, Jon Reed who was on most recently for another brilliant war film, “Apocalypse Now”.
