Essa didn't ask for rumors to follow her like gum stuck to the bottom of her shoe. However, being known as ‘Oblivion Girl: Destroy of Cities' was a rumor she could sink her teeth into. With the help of her sidekick, Atticus, the two were doing just fine hunting bounties, fighting pirates, and arguing with Gypsies. And she didn't even mind when Alita joined the group—even though they constantly fought. This was all, of course, before she knew her brother Eden was still alive. But it wasn't just Eden she needed to worry about. Sure, he may be the commander in the elite squad of military kill machines, but he was still the brother she knew and loved. Wasn't he? Now, along with her group of trigger-happy outcasts, they must fight for their lives if they want to win the war against Eden. Will Essa keep her reputation as the #1 bounty hunter, or will she lose everything when facing an opponent more powerful than herself? In the film Guerreras, Alita Contreras is shown preparing for a long, traversing rock route on a cliff in Colombia. Her dog by her side, Contreras mimes the moves, headphones on, eyes closed, meditating on what she's about to climb. Contreras was born in Venezuela, but her Colombian father made sure to keep traditions from his home country alive during her upbringing. Today, she lives and climbs in Colombia and works as a translator and climbing coach. In this conversation, she discusses the challenges of navigating identity after living in seven countries, and speaks to the incredible biodiversity and climbing communities found in Colombia. We also talk about her involvement in the making of Guerreras, a documentary that takes an intergenerational look at women climbers in Colombia. Alita guides us through her tactics for visualization, and speaks to how being engaged in a climb is often the only way she can clear her mind of mental clutter. This week on the Faith Film Fan Podcast, Alita Reynolds welcomes bestselling author and former atheist-investigative journalist Lee Strobel for a heartfelt, often humorous, and deeply honest conversation about his new Fathom Events documentary THE CASE FOR MIRACLES (in theaters Dec 15–18). They talk through why a miracle theme feels especially timely at Christmas, the film's road-trip-style search for evidence (as Lee travels Route 66 with producer Manny Rodriguez), and the real-world stories that shaped the project—from medically documented healings and peer-reviewed research on prayer to the stunning recovery of MS patient Barbara Snyder. Just as powerfully, Alita presses into the question many people are afraid to ask—what about the times healing doesn't happen?—and Lee responds with candor and hope, sharing how faith holds steady in mystery as well as in breakthroughs, making this episode a meaningful listen for believers, skeptics, and anyone longing for God to show up.Catch THE CASE FOR MIRACLES in theaters December 15–18, and get more info (plus tickets/resources) at FaithFilmFan.com.

In the high mountains of Colombia, seven women step into the unknown—hands on stone, hearts on fire. Their movement is intentional, their stories carved into every crimp and every breath of thin air. Guerreras: Women Warriors isn't just a climbing film; it's a portrait of resilience. These women carry more than ropes and harnesses. They carry grief, recovery, survival. The weight of expectations. The strength of motherhood. The complexity of identity. Their ascents are physical, yes—but they're also emotional and cultural breakthroughs.Among them is Alita, whose journey reveals what resilience looks like in motion. Together, they show how pain becomes purpose, solitude becomes self-trust, and mountains become mirrors of inner strength. Because sometimes the most powerful summits aren't the ones you reach—they're the ones that rise within you.Host: Jacalyn Gross @jacalyngrossGuest: Alita Contreras @alitaclimbingProducer: Jeremy Canaria @jeremycanaryEditor: Jacalyn GrossOriginal Music by: Pete Alba
