_______________________________________ SPOILERWARNUNG FÜR ALLE FILME DIESER FOLGE: Porco Rosso Fail Safe Night On Earth Fight Club Jaws The Witch Pet Semetary Child's Play Night Of The Living Dead _______________________________________ (00:00) Cold Opener, Intro & Regeln (12:04) Runde 1: Welchen Film bringst du zu einem Filmabend mit? Listen to us as we discuss the 1993 anime film Ninja Scroll Special Guest Appearance: Lon Harris - Writer for Screen Junkies , Honest Trailers. Lon has participated on Screen Junkies Movie Fights and Movie Trivia Schmoedown. You can find him live on Honest Trailers Commentary every Tuesday on the Fandom Entertainment Channel. If you would like to give us feedback on how were doing follow us at: https://beacons.ai/senornerdpodcast https://www.instagram.com/senornerdpodcast/ https://www.tiktok.com/@senornerdpodcast?_t=8eg2h8s7ci6&_r=1 @senornerdpod on Twitter Ninja Scroll (Japanese: 獣兵衛忍風帖, Hepburn: Jūbē Ninpūchō, lit. "Jubei's Ninja Chronicles") is a 1993 Japanese animated jidaigeki-chanbara film written and directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri, starring the voices of Kōichi Yamadera, Emi Shinohara, Takeshi Aono, Daisuke Gōri, Toshihiko Seki and Shūichirō Moriyama. The film was a co-production between JVC, Toho and Movic, with Madhouse serving as the animation studio. Ninja Scroll was theatrically released in Japan on June 5, 1993, and received an English-dubbed release through Manga Entertainment in 1995.[1] The film takes place in feudal Japan and follows Kibagami Jubei, a mercenary swordsman who battles the Eight Devils of Kimon, a team of ninjas with supernatural powers who are intent on overthrowing the Tokugawa shogunate. During his quest, he is aided by Dakuan, an elderly but crafty government spy, and Kagero, a Kōga kunoichi whose body is infused with poisonous toxins. Praised for its animation and action scenes, Ninja Scroll is regarded by many as one of the most influential anime films ever made. Alongside Akira and Ghost in the Shell, it was responsible for increasing the popularity of adult-oriented anime outside of Japan. The film has been cited by The Wachowskis as an influence on the Matrix franchise, and resulted in Kawajiri later contributing to two segments of the anthology film The Animatrix.[2] A televised stand-alone sequel, Ninja Scroll: The Series, was aired in Japan in 2003. In Edo period-Japan, the Yamashiro clan (山城藩, Yamashiro-han) mines gold in secret, and sends a shipment to the Toyotomi Shogun of the Dark (闇公方, Yami Kubō) as payment for his protection. The Shogun of the Dark intends to use the gold to buy advanced Spanish weaponry and overthrow the current government, the Tokugawa Shogunate. The ship runs aground onto Mochizuki territory (望月藩, Mochizuki-han) in a storm, and the Eight Devils of Kimon (鬼門八人衆, Kimon Hachininshū), a ninja team with supernatural powers in the employ of the Yamashiro, kill the people of the nearby Shimoda Village (下田村, Shimoda-mura) to keep the gold shipment a secret.
Oscars! Gawker is (still) back and (still) worse than ever — just ask Thomas Chatterton Williams. And you may not know the name “Andy Signore,” but if you do it’s probably because he was rather comprehensively #MeTooed back in 2017. This week on the podcast, Screen Junkies writer and Binge Boys host Lon Harris joins us for another case study for why the mid-2000s were so good for Cage, and so. very. bad for Travolta: Lord of War and Be Cool! In Andrew Niccol's Lord of War, Cage plays an unscrupulous arms dealer with a calculator where his heart should be, tracking him through his nefarious, cold-blooded life as a weapons merchant. It's a searingly prescient, post-9/11 take on American imperialism and the intersections between capitalism and war, with a great Cage performance and the one time Jared Leto's been tolerable on screen. On the other hand, we've got Be Cool, the misguided, decade-on sequel to Get Shorty, with F. Gary Gray warping this PG-13 nudge at the music industry of the aughts into an unfunny monster of a picture. The good: The Rock steals every scene he's in as a gay bodyguard who wants to be an actor! The bad: Harvey Keitel raps. The ugly: Just about everything everyone's wearing on screen. Vocal Qs has been fortunate enough to bring all of you some amazing LEGENDS of the business. But what about the VIRAL stars of the Voice acting industry? I reached out to Jon Bailey (aka Epic Voice Guy) via email and literally was interviewing him hours later, and that tells you all you need to know about the man. He is giving (a voice over coach in his own right) he is busy, and he is extremely hard working. This episode is PERFECT for those of you wanting to look into becoming a voice actor because Jon has done it all, and continues to plug away in film, animation and his very active social media platforms. You of course know Jon as the epic voice in Screen Junkies' Emmy winning series 'Honest Trailers' where he has become a viral sensation and heard by millions every month, but Jon has an extensive filmography. He has provided voice over work for dozens of movie trailers, he's played Transformers in the massive hit 'Bumblebee', and even provided ADR to blockbusters like 'Detective Pikachu'. His range of vocal talents is astounding (and I thank him for showing some off even though his voice was not healthy when we recorded this episode). Jon is also an accomplished impressionist, as his passion for voices is not just reserved to professional work in films providing back up recording for TJ Miller and Ryan Reynolds. You have to check him out on Tik Tok and Instagram, as his deepfake videos have even landed guest appearances in other video content across the internet. So join us as we discuss his bond with Ryan Reynolds, voicing Soundwave with Transformers legend Peter Cullen, impossible celebrity impressions, and absolutely amazing advice to anyone who wants to become a voice actor. This man took over the podcast this week, and you'll want to hear what he has to say! This episode... in a word... is... EPIC.
(From January 2018)It's been 30 years since 2 dudes from San Dimas partied with a gang of historical dudes in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. But Jeff, Jeramy and Adam are most definitely not alone, joining us for this podcast adventure is the bodacious, Anne Brashier.A writer/director/performer in Los Angeles, Anne brings with her a unique attitude on what the next installment of the Bill and Ted franchise should be based on her time collaborating with The Groundlings, Upright Citizens Brigade and even live events for ScreenJunkies.net at ComicCon. She even dishes a bit on her plans for a Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure musical. So join us as we surf the circuits of time, cramming all sorts of crazy ideas into the phone booth in an attempt to bring the laughs, loud and hard. A Phil Svitek Podcast - A Series From Your 360 Creative Coach
Many storytellers (authors, scriptwriters, etc), especially when starting out, consider plot and character to be two distinct parts of storytelling. They are not. (Thankfully I learned this lesson early on from Robert McKee—you can too by reading his book STORY). The reason I know they are not different is because of YouTube channels like Screen Rant's Pitch Meetings (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL--PgETgAz5FGoatB9KQzbnpv0bgZqU2l), Screen Junkies' Honest Trailers (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL86F4D497FD3CACCE) and Cinema Sins (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMWfZxj1nTkQBy4AeRGG4xH5d2IIApNPj). These videos showcase various plot holes and bad character motivation within movies. Sometimes they are truly nitpicks but other times they are correct. Had the writers in some of those instances not considered plot and character as separate those plot holes and bad motivation wouldn't exist. Join me for this lesson and afterwards share any thoughts or questions in the comment section. Hit me up on social media @PhilSvitek if it's easier. I'd love to hear from you. And for more free resources from your 360 creative coach, check out my website at http://philsvitek.com.
‘John Wick’ is about as simple a story as can be found in modern cinema, but the execution of it was close to flawless. But “close to flawless” isn’t the same thing as “perfect.” Why did Paul put off watching this movie so long? From a practical standpoint, what did John Wick actually accomplish? And what’s up with those gold coins? Sean, Jen, and Paul talk about this and more on this week’s episode of Out of Frame: Behind the Scenes. The first of a TWO part interview with Andy Signore, the creator of Honest Trailers, Movie Fights, and now Popcorned Planet and Movie World. We discuss the rise of his career from a kid in Pennsylvania learning how to make movies, to winning MTV Awards, to eventually becoming a major part of Screen Junkies and the movie Youtube world. VERY insightful stuff from a fellow creator. Next week however, we discuss the FALL of Andy Signore, who was CANCELLED, in a very interesting story. But first, the rise. Hi there! This week on YouTube, Screen Junkies unveiled an Honest Trailer for the 1996 classic 'Twister', so we'll have a look at some of our favourite disaster movies of all time. We'll also run down some of the cool stuff coming to streaming this week, and Jeff ventured back into the BUTLERVERSE this week. Not sure why he continues to go out of his way to watch all of the Gerard Butler movies, but, Jeff is strange. - Brett See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The question of the day is... Should we believe all women?... What if some women lie? Today's episode is my conversation with Andy Signore. If you're not familiar, Andy was the creator of famous Youtube comedy shows such as Screen Junkies, Honest Trailers, and more. Amidst the early inception days of the #MeToo movement, Andy lost his companies, his job, his credibility, and his family after he was provably falsely accused of sexual misconduct. There were no charges, no jury, no evidence, and no trial, but none of that matters when the angry internet mob is ready to ruin another life for the hell of it. Andy is not perfect, but Andy is certainly NOT a rapist. He made some mistakes and he owns them. This is a great episode and I hope you enjoy it. Should we #believeallwomen? How has Andy bounced back from these life shattering allegations? And why is the #metoo movement so cozy with creepy Joe Biden?... CURRENT EPISODE DC EASTER EGGS & POP CULTURE REFERENCES Article: http://comicbook.com/2016/10/05/arrow-easter-eggs-and-dc-comics-references-in-legacy (comicbook.com) Captain Pike - Is that a Star Trek reference? We really can't decide. Either way, per his nametag, that police captain talking to Thea in the opening scene appears to be "Captain Pike," the captain of the USS Enterprise immediately prior to James T. Kirk. Lonnie Machin - A recurring villain from season four of Arrow, Lonnie Machin (the first baddie Oliver fights in season five) is better known to DC Comics fans as the antihero Anarky. Wild Dog - the first new member of Team Arrow version 2.0 was introduced to the audience, in the form of Wild Dog, a hockey mask-wearing, gun-toting vigilante who was inspired by -- and then shot in the kneecap by -- Green Arrow. The character first appeared in Wild Dog #1 in 1987, making him one of the first new superheroes created following Crisis on Infinite Earths. Created by Road to Perdition writer Max Allan Collins, "his super power is guns." Konstantin Kovar - Konstantin Kovar is the father of Leonid Kovar, better known as Red Star. In the comics, Konstantin originally wasn't a villain, but a relatively benign figure: an archaeologist who unearthed a nasty bit of business that gave his son powers. But Red Star himself, a loyal communist in the Soviet era, was occasionally a problem for the other heroes before he turned his life around. Eventually, he would become a bad guy in service of the Soviet Union -- something that might make him an interesting figure going forward in case Anatoly Knyazev's comic book destiny of becoming the cybernetically-enhanced "KGBeast" is to become part of Arrow's story. Tobias Church - Church's nickname is apparently Charon, the ferryman of Hades from Greek mythology. There is a Charon in DC Comics, although he shares basically nothing in common with this version. This is something that will be repeated again in the episode: choosing a historical/mythological meaning instead of a contemporary/comics one. Vigilante - "Mr. Ski Goggles," as Felicity calls him, is actually Vigilante, a DC Comics antihero created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. Perez provided the police sketch seen on Felicity's computer screen. Created during Marv Wolfman's time on the New Teen Titans, Vigilante in the comics is a former New York district attorney who's set on the path of justice after hsi family is killed by the mob. The CW describes him similarly: Chase is "Star City's new district attorney and an ally of Mayor Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), who aims to clean up the streets through the legal system." Hub City and Bludhaven - According to Detective Malone, before he made his way to Star City, apparently he haunted Hub City -- the home of The Question -- and Bludhaven, the home of Nightwing. Ross Paints - Is that a little bit of free advertising for comic book artist and painter Alex Ross on the side of the truck Tobias Church and his goons are driving to their crime spree? Bertinelli - Whoever the head of the Bertinelli crime family is now that Helena has killed her father, he makes an appearance here -- only to be immediately killed by Tobias Church's men. When asked about Prometheus, Stephen said, “ Prometheus is a villain that is a byproduct of Oliver Queen being Green Arrow. That's something that you get to do once you're five years into a show. In a lot of ways, I think the most success that we've had with a villain, in my mind, was with Manu Bennett as Deathstroke. One of the reasons is because we got to tell a really personal story. We got to tell the story, sort of the dueling time of their time on the island and then their time in the Starling City at the time. Because Prometheus is a villain of Oliver's creation, so to speak, I feel like it will bring in that personal element as well.” Link:http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/10/05/arrow-stephen-amell-talks-legacy-russia-and-why-prometheus-is-the-right-villain-for-season-5 Spartan's new helmet and a Diggle/Oliver-centric episode of Arrow is coming (Date: 02 Oct 2016) Bleeding Cool - Picture of Diggle in his new helmet. The University of Chicago recently announced that the school officially does not support "trigger warnings" and "safe spaces." The question this week is: DO TRIGGER WARNINGS AND SAFE SPACES BELONG ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES? YES, THEY CAN BE HELPFUL or NO, GROW UP? This week, the super talented Kristen Brancaccio, finalist on HBO's "Project Greenlight." I found out way too late into the episode that Kristen was Italian, so most of the stereotypes were directed towards Sean and his pending spaghetti mixer. Kristen is also one of the producers of Screen Junkies' "Gamer Fights," a video game debate show I was a guest of recently. Spoiler: I won. She also launched a new site, Surviving and Thriving in LA, an insightful compendium of information for people coming to Los Angeles. I'm also joined by the always delightful Robin Higgins. She drops some chemistry truth bombs and we discuss the history of heroin on her YouTube channel. Plus deputy moderator, Rucka Rucka Ali is back, and keeps us on track with the big debate this week about trigger warnings. Sean has my real opinion in a sealed envelope, and we had a surprisingly robust debate about the topic. Surprising to everyone but me because I predicted that it would be excellent and my prediction came true.
