This week the English contemporary abstract artist Genevieve Leavold. A self-taught painter who draws on her love of eastern philosophy and organic forms found in nature as foundations for her work. Her intuitive process has developed initially through deep observation of nature and subsequent abstraction of essential qualities of form and color from the worn, overgrown and overlooked parts of urban spaces where nature had re-claimed parts of the city. Genevieve was born in Frome, Somerset the fifth of eight children. Her father Lawrence Oliver Hatton-Brown was a builder and Janet was a stay-at-home mother and volunteered her time for costume creation and design at a local theater. She also fostered a creative childhood that Genevieve nurtured in nature. Upon leaving high school Genevieve attended the Theater College for Design, she also worked in the local theater in Frome, attended painting classes at the Central St Martins School in London, as well as being a PA in London. It was then that an opportunity to visit Belgrave in Serbia for six months which turned into an eight year residency launched her career as an artist. She says that this was the birth of her work, which focused on drawing and the abstract. She soon became commercial, establishing herself in Europe and beyond before returning to the UK in 2022. A full-time artist Genevieve is currently showing her work in the US and UK. 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13
Jason Belgrave, Westmount Bible Chapel Now Moses was pasturing the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. The angel of the LORD appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not consumed. So Moses said, “ I must turn aside now and see this marvelous sight, why the bush is not burned up.” When the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then He said, “Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” He said also, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Then Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God. The LORD said, “I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have given heed to their cry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings. So I have come down to deliver them from the power of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. Now, behold, the cry of the sons of Israel has come to Me; furthermore, I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians are oppressing them. The Mission of Moses Therefore, come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:1-10

I'm used to the 280 character limit that Twitter gives me, but since I have more room here, let me tell you about myself! I graduated from Binghamton University in December of 2020 with a BA in English and I am looking to go into a career in the realm of public relations and social media. My passion lies in the field of athletics, whether that be college, professional sports, or athlete branding and marketing. However, I am open to learning and growing in different fields and have done internships in Lifestyle PR, higher education, and non-profit work. Currently, I am an Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant at St. John's University. In this role, I serve as the primary media contact for both Women's Volleyball and Softball, as well as being additional support for basketball. It is so exciting to be able to learn and grow new skills in the Big East Conference. Thanks to my position, I am also receiving a fully-funded Masters Degree in Sport Management. The knowledge I am learning in the classroom is invaluable. During undergrad, I took on leadership roles in various different clubs and organizations, including Dickinson Community Players (a student-run theatre group), Binghamton Dance Marathon (#FTK!), and my sorority, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Pi. I have worked with various different groups of people really honing in on my teamwork, leadership development, and communications skills. In addition, I spent two years interning in Binghamton's Athletic Department. Beyond the professional realm, I also am a creator. Since my YouTube comeback in January of 2019, I have been producing content focused on a wide variety of angles. My most popular videos include those depicting life at Binghamton University. My videos show every aspect of my life, encompassing my health and fitness journey and navigating post-grad life, the job-search and grad school. In a time of astrology apps like Co-Star and The Pattern, there's clearly a lot of people interested in learning what their horoscope says about them. However, if you type in “Do you believe in astrology?” into Google, you'll find equally divisive opinions on the matter. I'll admit that I've been a skeptic when it comes to horoscopes printed in newsletters (“There's no way people born the same month have the same personality!”). However, I failed to realize these newsletter horoscopes are generalizations created to appeal to the masses and not “real astrology” until I sat down with Janelle Belgrave, who lives as a professional astrologer. Janelle's astrology advice has been featured in multiple publications including New York Magazine, Women's Health, Yahoo Lifestyle, Bustle, Essence, and Refinery29 (who has dubbed her as “one of our favorite astrologers”). In this episode, I find out how Janelle learned the art of astrology, her beliefs on the art, how she built her astrology business, and what she thinks astrology is telling us about the current world situation.
