Tucked into the trees along Monbulk Road in Belgrave, Killik Handcrafted Rum Distillery is more than just a place to drink; it's a destination where small-batch spirits, ambitious food, and a warm, intimate atmosphere come together. When we visited, we were seated in a gorgeous private room with a crackling log burner and views out to the forest, and enjoyed a generous, flavour-packed feast that perfectly matched Killik's handcrafted rum and cocktails. At the heart of the kitchen is head chef Kevin Peiris, who joined six months ago and has already reshaped the menu with his distinctive style. Originally from coastal Sri Lanka, Kevin brings bold, aromatic flavours: coconut, curry leaves, pandan, and spice, thoughtfully adapted for a local palate. With over twelve years' experience across leading Mornington Peninsula venues, he blends his heritage with Western techniques, creating dishes that are both creative and approachable, all while leading his team with a calm, disciplined focus on learning and making people happy through food.

Send us Fan MailIt's a Media Slayers & Belgrave Brothers MASH UP!!! One minute we're arguing about AirPods in the shower, the next we're deep in a culture debate that says a lot about how the internet works. Recording together in person turns into the perfect setup for a wide-ranging hang that still has real stakes, because every topic comes back to the same thing: actions travel, and your name can get caught in the splash zone.We get into Pride Month and the surprising viral moment around TOK's “Chi Chi Man” being treated like a Pride anthem online, including why that's controversial and what reclaiming power can look like when a sound escapes its origin. From there we break down Jay-Z's Roots Picnic freestyle, why a single verse can shift the whole rap conversation, and how fans try to map every bar to Drake, Nicki Minaj, Dame Dash, and more. The Drake versus Kendrick tension and the Super Bowl decision turns into a real talk about loyalty, business, and what “picking a side” even means. Then we switch lanes into the ethics of leaked intimate videos, consent, blackmail, and how celebrities try to manage the fallout once something private becomes public content. We lighten it up with Knicks chaos, the Elmo backlash for being neutral, and travel stories that spiral into exit row responsibilities and coach-flight reality. We close with a workplace cheating scenario that forces a hard question: if someone uses your name to cover their mess, do you stay quiet or clear it up? Listen, then subscribe, share the episode, and leave a review with your take on what you'd do.Support the showhttps://www.instagram.com/themediaslayers?igsh=Z2Z0NWR5Zm50Z3Zn&utm_source=qr

In the seventh episode of That Workplace Experience Podcast, host Dan Moscrop visits 11 Belgrave Road, a thoughtfully reimagined workplace in Westminster that transforms a tired post-war building into a calm, contemporary office rooted in its context.Download the Workbook and watch the episode to see the spaces in full.Joined by Lewis Benmore (Eric Parry Architects), Dan explores how the project balances retention and reinvention—working with 37% of the existing structure to reduce embodied carbon while restoring the rhythm and character of a Georgian streetscape. From a façade designed to sit quietly within its neighbours to the reintroduction of lightwells and active frontages, the building demonstrates how subtle, considered moves can have a lasting urban impact.Together, they discuss the influence of hospitality-led thinking on workplace design, the early integration of sustainability and wellness, and the importance of creating intuitive, connected environments—from welcoming cycle entrances to sightlines that draw you through to a hidden garden at the rear. The conversation also touches on material honesty, adaptable façade design, and how landscape—both at street level and on the rooftop—can foster community and a sense of escape within the city.Video production and camera: Calum LindsayCamera: Miguel Santa ClaraIllustration: Phoebe Gitsham

Welcome to the Indian Summer Sessions. The world's greatest podcast has placed its feet upon the warpath of joy, disclosure, and insight. Not ours, of course. That would be unseemly. Interview by Simon Russell-WhiteVideography and editing by Rashid AlKamraikhiThere's a phrase you'll hear repeatedly when in the company of Split Chain: “The Chain does what it wants”. As mantras go, it's used by the Bristol, UK quintet as a means of encapsulating the broad-minded, unconstrained creative freedom with which they approach their art, as well as a means through which to try to make sense of the sky-rocketing trajectory the band have found themselves on.Call it instinct, fate, divine intervention, whatever – the whims of ‘The Chain' have led to a moment where one thing is abundantly clear: Split Chain are one of the hottest, zeitgeist-capturing new bands in the world. In Australia right now on tour with Better Lovers, this is Split Chains first ever trip Down Under, and this is what HEAVY reviewer and conductor of this interview, Simon Russell-White, thought of their live performance in Brisbane..."It's currently 6° Celsius in Bristol, UK, this being the hometown of English rockers Split Chain. If the hot and humid weather in Queensland bothered anyone on stage, then they sure didn't show it. Split Chain delivers a heavy and emotive set, emotive in the way of musical notation and all out deep feels. Singer “Bert” Martinez-Cowles voice sails through the PA system as the band cruises through their eclectic tracks including stand out (for me) ‘who am i?' drawing serious attention and crowd participation. It's been a whirlwind two plus years for the lads, from playing small hometown shows, to signing with Epitaph soon after now Bert, Jake, Oliver, Tom and Aaron have embarked on their first ever Australian tour, and tonight's show along with Better Lovers is their first here in the land of Oz. It was special, and the reception the quintet received will surely see them return very soon!"With three shows left in Melbourne, Belgrave and Adelaide be sure to catch this epic line-up for yourself.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

In this episode of Lit with Charles, Charles welcomes British writer Manish Chauhan to celebrate the lead-up to his debut novel Belgrave Road (out with Faber in January). Set in Leicester, the book traces the intersecting lives of Mira, newly arrived from India in an arranged marriage that offers little refuge, and Talia, a Somali refugee navigating the UK asylum system. Manish speaks candidly about the long road to publication - writing since his teens, balancing a demanding career as a finance lawyer, and building momentum through short fiction - and about the real-life encounters and observations that sparked his story. At the heart of the conversation is what he hopes fiction can do right now: complicate the rhetoric around immigration by showing that every person contains “a whole number of stories,” not just the ones that dominate headlines. As always, the episode is also a masterclass in reading as a writer. Manish shares four books that shaped his craft and sensibility: A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry, Runaway by Alice Munro, Disgrace by J.M. Coetzee, and Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri. Lit with Charles loves reviews. If you enjoyed this episode, I'd be so grateful if you could leave a review of your own, and follow me on Instagram at @litwithcharles. Lauras ability to capture emotion, intensity and real human grit is unmatched — but her journey to becoming a videographer wasn't linear. In fact, it started with being made redundant twice, losing her confidence, questioning her path, and finally taking the leap into full-time creative work… with no rulebook, no guaranteed income, and no clear plan other than backing herself. We talk about:

And the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul; and not one of them claimed that anything belonging to him was his own, but all things were common property to them. And with great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and abundant grace was upon them all. For there was not a needy person among them, for all who were owners of land or houses would sell them and bring the proceeds of the sales and lay them at the apostles' feet, and they would be distributed to each as any had need. Now Joseph, a Levite of Cyprian birth, who was also called Barnabas by the apostles (which translated means Son of Encouragement), and who owned a tract of land, sold it and brought the money and laid it at the apostles' feet.

Redshirt freshman Antoine Belgrave-Shorter is expected to be the starting safety opposite veteran Zakee Wheatley. Franklin said the Lions will play four safeties, but Belgrave-Shorter's emergence in a short time is worth noting. Plus, cornerback Daryus Dixson and edge rusher Chaz Coleman are the true freshmen who have been given "green lights" for the season. Expect to see plenty of them on Saturday. "If you want to make $100K as a filmmaker, all you need is $11.40 an hour—24 hours a day." That's the kind of paradigm-shifting wisdom Timashion Jones drops in this electric episode of Detroit is Different. From childhood summers flipping on mattresses in west side alleys to building cinematic masterpieces screened on Tubi and PBS, Timashion shares how his upbringing in a tight-knit Detroit neighborhood, rooted in Black entrepreneurship and creative hustle, shaped his vision as a filmmaker. "We caught the bus everywhere," he says. "But once I got that Pontiac 6000, we were EVERYWHERE." He breaks down how being raised by a mother who ran transmission shops and bounce house businesses inspired his leap from engineering to independent film. From the Emmy-winning "Cody High" documentary to his latest hit "Mirror of Deception," Timashion tells stories that uplift, educate, and heal. This episode is a journey through legacy, Detroit culture, family, faith, tech, and tenacity. “My mom told me, 'What's the worst that can happen? You just go back to work.' In this episode, Dr. Shani Belgrave-Heath, a board-certified bariatric surgeon shared her background and practice with us, discussing numerous medical issues that can be improved by bariatric surgery, including high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, urine incontinence, and arthritis pain. Dr. Shani explained that consultations, lab work, and occasionally insurance requirements, such as weight loss visits, are all part of the procedure before undergoing bariatric surgery. Also, patients progress through several stages of diet consistency during the healing phase, which lasts approximately two weeks and after surgery, walking is encouraged, but lifting heavy objects should be avoided for four weeks. This week the English contemporary abstract artist Genevieve Leavold. A self-taught painter who draws on her love of eastern philosophy and organic forms found in nature as foundations for her work. Her intuitive process has developed initially through deep observation of nature and subsequent abstraction of essential qualities of form and color from the worn, overgrown and overlooked parts of urban spaces where nature had re-claimed parts of the city. Genevieve was born in Frome, Somerset the fifth of eight children. Her father Lawrence Oliver Hatton-Brown was a builder and Janet was a stay-at-home mother and volunteered her time for costume creation and design at a local theater. She also fostered a creative childhood that Genevieve nurtured in nature. Upon leaving high school Genevieve attended the Theater College for Design, she also worked in the local theater in Frome, attended painting classes at the Central St Martins School in London, as well as being a PA in London. It was then that an opportunity to visit Belgrave in Serbia for six months which turned into an eight year residency launched her career as an artist. She says that this was the birth of her work, which focused on drawing and the abstract. She soon became commercial, establishing herself in Europe and beyond before returning to the UK in 2022. A full-time artist Genevieve is currently showing her work in the US and UK. She lives in Frome with her husband James, a business coach, and two cats.Genevieve's website: www.genevieveleavold.comInstagram: @genevieveleavoldFavorite artists:Mira Schendel Flora YukhnovichGeorgia O KeeneJoan JonasMarina AbramovicHelma af Klimt Playlist: White Rabbit - Jefferson AirplaneI Tokuni -EivorWhat else is There. - RoyksoppThe Painter - Future IslandsContaining it - B of BrisThe sensual world - Kate BushUtopia - GoldfrappPlay Dead - BjorkDumb. - Portishead Host: Chris StaffordFollow @theaartpodcast on InstagramEmail: hollowellstudios@gmail.comThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4769409/advertisement
