“This isn't the podcast you deserve, but it is the one you need right now.” – Alfred Pennyworth in some modern iteration of Batman, probably. The Cinematic Schematic returns in our March edition to take a dive deep into Gotham's criminal underbelly to answer the most important question regarding The Batman: Does the big screen need another new take on Batman, especially so soon, and if so, is writer/director Matt Reeves up for the challenge? Rejoining host Caleb Masters to explore the answers to those questions is the podcast's quintessential and reliably talented Lucius Fox-like recurring host, Laron Chapman, the self-proclaimed “Calendar Man” of podcast guests, Daniel Bokemper, and the George Clooney Batman of guest hosts, Brock Lay. Batman and Robin are "duly deputized agents of the law." Law comes up on the '66 show on a number of occasions, including two courtroom scenes. The very first episode features the Riddler filing a lawsuit against Batman. But, you might ask, how accurately is the law portrayed on Batman? In this episode, lawyer Jim Dedman is here to fill us in. How good of a prosecutor is Batman? Does he behave properly as an agent of the law? How would Alfred's method of breaking up the Batman - Marsha nuptials go over in real life? Would Gordon and O'Hara face any charges for unknowingly shooting the Duo in Penguin's shooting gallery? All this and more! Plus, the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies Concertino Orchestra's version of the theme, and your mail about our Louie's Lethal Lilac Time review! It’s the showdown of the century… Bruce Lee vs Burt Ward! Or at least, that seems to have been how some young viewers — and Lee himself — saw this arc! As the Green Hornet and Kato visit Gotham, we dig into Lee’s seeming obsession with Ward. So why did the Hornet appear on Batman? Does the Hornet bring his own tone, or get his tone changed for him by Batman? Paul notes how different the Hornet looks with Batman cinematography. Meanwhile, Roger C. Carmel’s character Colonel Gumm, dismissed by most juvenile viewers, turns out to have plenty to offer us as adults. PLUS: an update on that Adam West appearance on The Floppy Show (and the weird cowl he wore there), the versions of femininity on view in Batman, and your mail!
