We had the pleasure of interviewing Rose Betts over Zoom video!Standout British singer/songwriter Rose Betts wears her heart on her sleeve in her triumphant debut full-length album, White Orchids, out now! Rose wrote and co-produced the entire album. To Rose, White Orchids represents a loss of innocence; a moment of pure youth and fragility where her heart was broken. Just as an orchid blooms once before it is usually discarded, it feels as though one can grasp on to youth for merely a fleeting moment. Rose released the emotional, self-reflective album single “Recovery” late last year, and it was recently synced for usage for the CW hit TV show "Legacies." Another album track, "Driving Myself Home," went supernova on Tiktok in January and is now closing in on 2 million combined streams and well over 5 million views. Rose also released “Song To The Siren” last year (producing the track as well as performing it), which served as the leading song of Zack Snyder's Justice League (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), created by GRAMMY-nominated multi-platinum producer, musician, composer and educator Tom Holkenborg. Olympic Silver Medalist Alexandra Trusova used “Song to the Siren” in her recent Olympic run. ABOUT ROSE BETTSHailing from London, England, Rose Betts is a singer-songwriter with an uncanny ability to pen beautiful hooks and lyrics with a depth beyond her years. A regular on the London music scene and darling of Sofar Sounds, Rose toured the UK in 2017 and self-released her first EP The Stars Look Down. She has received major radio play on BBC 2 and BBC 6 and continues to blur the lines of conventionality through her collaborations with art, film, theatre and virtual technology. She is also involved in other collaborative projects, working on Bazzi's single ‘Young and Alive' which was nominated for Best Remixed Recording at the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards and “Song to the Siren,” her contribution to the Zack Snyder's Justice League (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), which she performed and produced. With no new Marvel shows this week we have pivoted to covering other live action superhero stuff, and for some ungodly reason we chose Legends of the Superheroes, two live action DC Comics specials from network TV in 1979. Featuring the return of Adam West, Burt Ward and Frank Gorshin to their Batman roles, this first special, The Challenge, is a stunningly inane and unfunny hour that also happens to have some of the most comic-accurate versions of the DC characters ever put on film. Therein lies the fascinating dichotomy. When the Legion of Doom decides to end the world in one hour the Superfriends have to go out and bumble their way through unbearable sketches, and then Mordru the Merciless rides a Ski-Doo. It's the worst of Old Hollywood meets a whole bunch of absolute nobody actors with a script by people who could have definitely done better. And it's just the first one - we're doing the second special next week! Both are available free on Tubi, but be aware they have the episodes flipped, so The Challenge is presented as the second episode, when it's actually the first. As if there was going to be continuity to worry about. If you're wondering what we thought of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness the one place to find out is Watch Men, our monthly superhero deep dive podcast, available to $5 and above subscribers at www.patreon.com/cinemasangha. Check it out - the episodes are loooong. Speaking of long, this lengthy ep has an intro/news that runs to 30:23, in case you feel like skipping all that.

Get more at podsematary.com! Read our afterthoughts for this episode at https://twitter.com/PodSematary/status/1524976256625758208 It's Friday the 13th on Pod Sematary! Time for the fifth entry in both the Friday and Scream franchises! This week, Chris & Kelsey hallucinate famous killers and, by the end, become the killers themselves. The Classic Film: Friday the 13th: A New Beginning (1985) "Still haunted by his past, Tommy Jarvis, who, as a child, killed Jason Voorhees, is sent to a secluded halfway house in the countryside, where the killing of a young man triggers a brutal series of murders in the area” (IMDb.com). The franchise has abandoned even Jason Voorhees in favor of a new killer and a plethora of f-bombs and tits, but we'll be damned if it's not still a little entertaining. The Modern Film: Scream (2022) "25 years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, Calif., a new killer dons the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town's deadly past” (IMDb.com). The self-referential style of Scream has now folded in on itself and even the meta is meta. The fifth installment hasn't brought the franchise to ruin without Wes Craven—in fact, there's a lot to like here—but the execution leaves much to be desired. In this episode, we take a look back at the epic JUSTICE LEAGUE MORTAL, the doomed JUSTICE LEAGUE film that was to be directed by MAD MAX: FURY ROAD and HAPPY FEET director George Miller. At one point, it was fully cast (including Armie Hammer as Batman/Bruce Wayne and rapper Common as Green Lantern/John Stewart), costumes were being designed by LORD OF THE RINGS' Weta Workshop, and large sets were even being built before everything came crashing down! Would it have been better than the Zack Snyder/Joss Whedon film that we ultimately got? Find out by clicking the video, and see for yourself!

DARK CRISIS Red skies, death, destruction, trying to make sense of the DC universe's multiverse and how at one point all of it happened in 5 years... Today we are once again joined by the current architect of the DC Universe; the writer of Robin, Batman, Deathstroke Inc, and now… DARK CRISIS... New York Times best-selling author Joshua Williamson joins us again to talk about the DC Universe. It's been some time since the last major Crisis in the DC Universe but the pieces have been laid out since the very first steps into the Infinite Frontier. Joshua's work on so many of the biggest DC Comics titles have been laying the groundwork for what has come for the Dark Crisis. There are pieces that Joshua says are obvious that we have all missed so far. We discuss the importance of Legacy in the DC Universe with much of the younger generation of heroes stepping up to fill the shoes left behind by the murdered Justice League in the pages of Justice League #75. With DC shying away from legacy until recently, we discussed the importance of people like Nightwing and Flash rising to the occasion. We spend a fair amount of time discussing the true heart of the DC Universe, Dick Grayson and why everyone turns to him in the times of crisis.
