The Blooming Court Ch. 9We start with the group after their encounter with Shankise and his grim warning. The group meets to decide how to move forward, and Zechs suggests rushing through to widen the gap between the party and their overseers. The idea being that if they can widen the gap, it would give them time to reach Glad's boon and go the long way around the treants to avoid it without raising too much suspicion. It's not an impossible idea, though it wouldn't be easy by any means, as the group will be running at full speed with Zechs leading the way and the group following closely in tow. While it happened as planned, we encountered minor difficulties that could have become major hurdles without the group's teamwork.Upon finishing their trek, they find a camp and ask Hoshino to provide a haven for the night so they can rest in peace, given the environment and their previous encounters. It's not quite as lavish as their last stay in the Magnificent Mansion, but it's far better than the alternative, and for that, they're grateful. After some food, conversation, and rest, we see Glad in a dream where she is shown the location of The Daughter of the Vine. The morning comes, and with a full night of stressless sleep, the party feels a wave of exhaustion lifted for them. With everyone but Shanks downstairs for breakfast, Zechs takes it upon himself to check in on him. To no one's surprise, he's been burning the midnight oil and has been tinkering with some of the tools in his kit. First showing Zechs the dismantled "bombs away" and telling Duo he's made him a frag grenade he can take into combat in the future. This gets Zechs' wheels turning, and he informs Shanks that he'll work with him and Salix on some new toys moving forward. After a brief discussion on death, morality, and the judgment of the many for the sins of some, they move forward with the plan to have Shanks scout. While the next leg of the journey isn't a sprint, as it was the previous day, it is still quite the trek, and the land is showing its feywild nature with every step. There are some combined efforts of stealth and utilizing everyone's kits to help them traverse the terrain, and it shows just how far the group has come, not only individually but as a team as well. All this gets them through the treants' area and to the supposed location of the temple. Eventually coming up to a lake with water that almost looks like glass, still and serene. The group takes the time to rest and gather themselves. There's so much happening, and that's where we pick up…Find out what happens next in this episode of the Medusa's Cascade: Collateral Damage!Theme Music is written and performed by EfflorescenceMixed by Thomas Lapierre IIITitle Card by Pierce Graphics Check out the show at themedusascascade.com Hosted on Acast. Duo led by Woody Guthrie's grandson will perform Music is embedded in the DNA of the Little Stony Point Citizens Association. Pete Seeger and pals lit bonfires on the beach and jammed into the night after he discovered the Philipstown riverside spot. In 1984, The New York Times reported that 200 people attended the association's informal kick-off. Several musicians performed, and Alex Clifton and T. Xiques breakdanced to music from a boombox. Locals called the place Sandy Beach. The fledgling association aimed to create "a safer place to picnic, swim, hike or boat." In a letter Seeger sent to Cold Spring resident Bob Connor around 1983, he wrote that volunteers, beyond picking up litter, should ensure that "people are not getting drunk and getting into fights" and that they stop throwing "the trash barrels into the water." They would also "be of assistance in case anybody needs it." The association became the first of some 30 friends' groups to work with state parks. One early achievement was the pedestrian bridge over the tracks, says Brian Grahn, president of the nonprofit's board. Most recently, the group hired Cold Spring resident Bryan Jennings as a community outreach coordinator to organize live music and "authentic programming." On Thursday (June 18), Woody Guthrie's grandson, Cole Quest, will perform in Seeger's backyard. Along with singer and guitarist Christian Apuzzo, their focus will be on songs by country brother duets from the 1930s to 1950s. Billed as Christian and Cole, the duo is an offshoot of Cole Quest and the City Pickers. The performers met at a bluegrass jam in Astoria. "I had just moved into the neighborhood and heard 'Going Down the Road Feeling Bad,' " says Quest, 40. "I was amazed to hear my grandfather's song at warp speed, like folk music on drugs." As a teen, Quest (his middle name) started on electric guitar, emulating Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn, but after stumbling onto the jam, he returned regularly for years, he says. "Rockstar mode was getting stale, and I had to break the mold," he says. "I bought a mandolin and started experimenting with slide guitar [influenced by the electric blues], but notes hit too sharp or too flat, so I placed it in my lap and experimented with open tunings." After hearing a dobro, or resonator guitar, at the Astoria jam, Quest instantly gravitated to the instrument because he liked its bouncy sound. It's also played horizontally in open tuning with a palm-held slide. The strings are located well above the neck, so there are no frets to get in the way. "I didn't know it, but it's exactly what I was looking for," he says. "Someone made a guitar just for me — in the 1920s." As a child, he remembers "driving up the hill to [Seeger's] house" near Beacon. He visits Philipstown often to hike and hang. Quest and Jennings share many friends in the city folk scene. Jennings used to play with The Defibulators (the "Brooklyn hillbilly spelling"), got into booking and moved to Cold Spring in 2020. From the association's inception, Maple Syrup Day in the spring always included a slate of musical performers. Ditto The Hoot, introduced in the fall. Grahn initiated the three-week Global Music Initiative at least a decade ago, he says. Jennings plans to build a weekly Thursday evening concert series and expand the organization's sonic offerings: "Music is at the heart of what we are, and it's time to reconnect with our roots," he says. Little Stony Point is located at 3011 Route 9D in Philipstown. Christian and Cole will perform on June 18 from 7 p.m. to sunset, following a 6:30 p.m. presentation by the Putnam History Museum on the Hudson Valley during the American Revolution. Admission is free. To learn more about the organization, see littlestonypoint.org. To order music, see christianandcole.com.

What happens when a green owl, a handful of improv rules, and zero fear collide? You get Duolingo, the internet's most unhinged, hilarious, and effective brand. Zaria Parvez is the creative force behind that chaos. As Duolingo's first-ever social media hire, she helped grow the brand from 50,000 to over 16 million followers, turning a dusty owl costume in the office into one of the most recognizable (and meme-worthy) characters on the planet. She opens up about how she built a culture of creativity rooted in improv, boldness, and trust. She shares how her team turned social media into the heartbeat of the brand and why “fear is the most expensive mistake” in Marketing. You'll learn: -The wild origin story behind Death by Duo, the campaign that hit 1.7 billion impressions with no paid ads. -How Zaria uses improv comedy principles to fuel creativity, collaboration, and confidence. -Why giving social teams approval power and autonomy is the key to moving at the speed of culture. Whether you're a Marketer, creator, or someone who just loves a good brand story, this episode will change the way you think about creativity online. OTAs hit Allen Park and the Detroit Lions face a real offensive question. What will new OC Drew Petzing actually build in Detroit? Many expect heavy 12 and 13 personnel. The roster suggests something different. What Petzing Might Really Want The tight end room did not get the draft attention many anticipated. Targets like a combo tight end were on the radar. Names such as Nate Boerkircher, Oscar Delp, and Sam Rausch came up as the type. Riley Nowakowski, a tight end fullback from Indiana, fit that mold too. The Lions passed. That matters. Skipping those additions hints at a base that leans into receivers. Picture Isaac Tesla with Jameson Williams and Amon-Ra St. Brown on the field, with Sam LaPorta as the primary tight end. That package spreads space without surrendering toughness. It also fits a room built to win with speed and timing. If Petzing favors matchups and spacing, this roster can live in 11 while still bullying light boxes. Why Arizona Is a Bad Template Projecting Detroit from Arizona tape misses context. In Arizona, the wide receiver group was thin or hurt. The passing game sputtered outside of McBride. There were quarterback issues. Those factors pushed 12 and 13 personnel to stabilize the run and protection. Detroit is not built the same way. The Lions offensive tackles run block at a high level. They can create movement without extra big bodies. Duo and other downhill concepts do not need a constant tight end convoy here. Against nickel defenses and two-high safeties, the Lions can force lighter fits with speed on the field and still run with force. That opens play action, quick game, and shots for Williams while St. Brown and LaPorta churn first downs. Petzing inherits flexibility, not a mandate to go heavy. OTA Reality Check in Allen Park It is shorts and shells. No contact. Helmets are allowed. Practice jerseys, no shoulder pads. Much of it is seven on seven. OTA standouts can vanish when pads arrive. Chase Lucas once looked like an instant slot option as a seventh round pick. When the contact started, the depth chart told a different story. So, take early reports with caution. Roles and usage are the real tells. Watch which group shows up most: three wideouts with LaPorta, or frequent two tight end sets. Track where Williams aligns and how often Tesla works with starters. Note how often the Lions stress light boxes rather than stack big bodies. Those clues will say more about Petzing's NFL plan than any highlight from a non-contact Friday. This is the Detroit Lions Podcast lens on OTAs, focused on structure over sizzle. #detroitlions #lions #detroitlionspodcast #drewpetzing #lionsotas #kalifraymond #isaacteslaa #alimmcneill #keithabney #kendricklaw #lionsdefensivescheme #tyleikwilliams Learn more about your ad choices. The Blooming Court Ch. 8We pick back up as Shanks informs Zechs who their unexpected company is. Zechs, reluctant, proceeds to tell Galahad the news. Zechs then proceeds to group the party and, in hushed tones, make the situation known to them. Turk and Hoshino get a very abbreviated version of why everyone's suddenly so tense. Plans are made and instructions given as they continue to move with business as usual. To make matters worse, someone who might be Shanks' alternate or an impersonator is messing with the group. First with Hoshino, then with Zechs, who confirms it's his alternate Shankise. Shankise manages to ruffle the feathers and get under the skin of Turk, crossing a line that comes with anger and threats. They press on, under the added stress on their minds, and eventually make camp. Duo takes first watch with Zechs, who gives him the rundown on the situation. On the second watch, Salix & Turk discuss their past and speak to their patrons, current and former. The final watch consists of Galahad and Hoshino discussing the alternates, Hoshino's conversation he's yet to bring up to the group, and some of what Hoshino missed while the party helped Arguile.Zechs gets a wake-up call from Shanks, who tells him, "The Loxodon is casting some shit." As information is relayed back and forth and the group starts waking up, Shanks realizes his hunter's mark spell has dropped. With that, Shanks was snuck up on by his alternate, who told him to bring him to the party for a chat. Shanks relays this to Zechs, who then relays it to Galahad and Hoshino, telling them this is supposedly just a conversation, and they'll know if it goes south if he says BARRAGE. Shankise, having been charmed by Shanks, approaches the group and states plainly that they should stop what they're doing. To which they have some distrust, but find no reason for him to lie. He informs them that they don't know what chain of events their actions will set in motion, and that they should consider the factors at play. Some more exchange is had, and "pleasantries" are given before, in a veil of shadows, Shankise disappears. There's so much happening, and that's where we pick up…Find out what happens next in this episode of the Medusa's Cascade: Collateral DamageTheme Music is written and performed by EfflorescenceMixed by Thomas Lapierre IIITitle Card by Pierce Graphics Check out the show at themedusascascade.com Hosted on Acast. The Blooming Court Ch. 7Upon the group's decision and departure, a rough semblance of a plan begins to form. Utilizing the knowledge that Shanks possesses of the Songbloom in combination with Zechs' ranger abilities to find its location. Throughout their detour to obtain Glad's boon, Galahad expresses his frustration with their situation and his disdain for the area. Eventually, the group breaks for the evening, and we see Turk getting another lesson in Thieves' Cant and informing Shanks that he has quite the singing voice. Hoshino joins the two, and Turk informs Hoshino about how he got his nickname, Big T, and Hoshino regales them with a named tale of Arguile and Shanks fighting the Gathakanathi warriors. On this watch, Shanks gets the feeling, which is later confirmed, that they're being watched. The second watch is Arguile and Hoshino, in which Hoshino learns about what transpired after his departure, particularly with his family and Arioch. Hoshino apologizes for not being there for him, but Arguile stops him and lets him know there's nothing to forgive. Quickly changing the subject, Arguile asks his opinion on his fellow bard and who would be the better of the two. Hoshino deflects with a humble answer, and Arguile laughs. They go get Galahad and Zechs for the final watch. The conversation is light with Zechs poking fun at Galahad's frustrations. Eventually, they wake the others and make preparations for the day, organizing spells and getting their daily goodberry. Duo confirms that their destination is about 2 days away. Shanks and Zechs continue to get the sense that they're being watched. With that, Shanks decides to go into stealth mode to see if he can get eyes on their pursuers. We end with Shanks activating his gem of seeing, and he sees an armor-clad Loxodon that's all too familiar with the group.

The April 30th arc day in Star Trek Fleet Command was… a lot. Battle passes went down, came back up, reset, went down again, players got compensation promises, research rollbacks hit 1,719 accounts, and the community started asking whether this was just a bug day or a full systems parade of gremlins in the Jeffries tubes. In this episode of Talking Trek Live, DJz, Griffin, Tarpy, Jules Verne, and the community break down what happened with the battle pass, why the research rollback mattered, whether Digit vs. Scopely responsibility changes the conversation, and what players should know about duo wave defense. Jules also brings the classroom energy with real duo wave defense testing, hypothermic decay math, repair drone mechanics, bugs found in the mode, and a deep dive into the new Paragon recruit math and value concerns. 01:03 Show open: the arc disaster begins 08:16 Stupid News returns to the chaos desk 16:28 DJz's missing Junkers and customer service comedy 23:40 Battle Pass Update: the sequel nobody ordered 31:01 Research rollback, 1,719 accounts, and why it had to happen 38:59 Were buildings and ships affected too? 46:00 “Oopsie poopsie,” exploit correction, and the missing undo button 52:04 Did the rollback break the battle pass? 57:18 70,000 battle pass points and the second relaunch problem 01:04:37 Why DJz is saying Digit instead of just Scopely 01:12:49 Scopely responsibility vs. Digit execution 01:19:00 Jules Verne enters with duo wave defense testing 01:27:00 Venari Ral, hypothermic decay, and repair drone mechanics 01:35:00 Duo wave maps, allowed hostiles, and carry-a-friend strategy 01:43:10 Duo wave defense takeaways and video intro chaos 01:51:00 Crew tweaks, impulse speed, and Griffin's squishy science lab 01:59:06 Paragon recruit value math begins 02:07:32 “Chance of nothing” and the $600 comparison 02:16:05 Paragon pools, rerolls, and the “guarantee” explained 02:24:01 Changing math, confusing sourcing, and final arc frustration 02:29:10 Closing thoughts, margarita math, and the end of the doozy
What if we've been teaching Latin and Greek all wrong? In this episode of the Anchored Podcast, Soren Schwab sits down with Guillermo Dillon, Senior Consultant in the U.S. for the Polis Institute, to discuss why the future of Latin and Ancient Greek depends on something bigger than textbooks, but on our understanding of why these languages must be kept alive.Guillermo makes the case that Greek and Latin should not be treated as “dead languages” or mere tools for boosting test scores, but as living gateways into the intellectual tradition of the West—the "Republic of Letters", as the American Founding Fathers referred to it.From spoken Latin and immersive pedagogy to the growing demand for trained classical language teachers, this conversation explores what it would look like to teach ancient languages as languages once again.Be sure to check out Guillermo Dillon's forthcoming book, a practical teacher's guide designed to help educators teach "Unus, Duo, Tres" using a communicative, immersive Latin method. This resource is built specifically to help schools and teachers bring spoken Latin into the classroom with confidence.Learn more about Guillermo and the Polis Institute here:https://www.polisjerusalem.org/https://www.polisjerusalem.org/resource/unus-duo-tres-latine-loquamur-per-scaenas-et-imagines/Timestamps00:40 – Introduction & Guest Background02:54 – Guillermo's Educational Journey05:16 – Growing Up Bilingual & Learning Languages07:12 – Discovering Spoken Latin10:50 – Why Learn Latin and Greek?16:56 – Why Speaking Latin Matters17:01 – The POLIS Institute & Its Mission19:56 – The Classical Education Teacher Shortage25:51 – Training Teachers, Not Just Buying Curriculum30:25 – Advice for Schools Starting Latin Programs34:30 – Guillermo's New Book & *Unus, Duo, Tres*38:35 – Teacher Success Stories40:47 – A Book That Changed Guillermo's Life: *Antigone*43:38 – Final Thoughts & Closing#AnchoredPodcast #ClassicLearningTest #Latin #AncientGreek #ClassicalEducation #Humanities #GreatBooks #POLISInstitute #LiberalArts #TeacherTraining

From the Patriot Mobile studio powered by E|Spaces, the guys dive into a packed episode of Try That In A Small Town. They kick things off by reacting to the latest ACM Award nominations: who belongs, who doesn't, and why politics still run the game. Entertainer, Group, Duo, New Artist, Album, Song, Single, and Musical Event of the Year all get the TTIAST treatment, with plenty of opinions on names like Morgan Wallen, Jason Aldean, Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Megan Moroney, Chris Stapleton, Lainey Wilson, Alabama, Zac Brown Band, Parmalee, and more. Kelly shares a huge personal milestone: after interning for Reba's company back in the 90s, he finally lands his first Reba cut on a song written in 2005. That opens up a conversation about prayer, persistence, and whether Christians should pray about career and business. The guys revisit the backstory of “If I Didn't Love You” (Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood), from losing a duet slot to writing something ultra-specific on a deadline and watching it connect. In the fan-favorite Dip Shitty-its segment, they unload on Masters “pond jumpers,” public bathroom pee etiquette, clapping when servers drop dishes, trash in urinals, rental car abuse, and more everyday behaviors that drive them crazy. They close with a powerful Small Town Hero story from Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, where a principal charged an armed student, took a bullet, and likely saved lives. It's exactly the kind of “try that in a small town” courage the show was built to highlight. If you like country music, songwriting war stories, small town grit, and unfiltered opinions, this one delivers from front to back. Two years ago, 60% of consumers said they were fine with AI-generated content. Today that number has dropped to 26%. Consumers are rejecting AI content faster than marketers can create it — and the brands that ignore this are paying a steep price. In this episode, I'm sharing the full breakdown of the keynote I delivered at DigiMarCon West in Hollywood — a presentation called People, Not Prompts. It's built around the SES framework from my book Digital Threads: Search, Email, and Social working together as one connected system. But more importantly, it's about the layer on top of that system that AI simply cannot replicate: people.I walk through why the bottleneck in marketing has shifted from execution to strategy, what the SES framework looks like with an updated AI-era lens, how brands like Lego, Levi's, and Intuit got burned by going all in on AI without a strategy, and how LinkedIn has become the single platform where search, email, social, and people all converge.Plus — I'm giving away a free copy of Maximizing LinkedIn for Business Growth to podcast listeners and YouTube viewers.
