It's the 50th regular episode of the podcast, and to celebrate, we're finally doing a deep dive on a comic that helped ushered in the Iron Age and still stands as one of its most enduring accomplishments: Frank Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight (better known in collected form as The Dark Knight Returns), aided and abetted by inker Klaus Janson, colorist Lynn Varley, and letterer John Costanza. But after 39 years of attention from the comics industry and mainstream media alike, is there anything left to say about arguably the most celebrated Batman comic ever published? Rather than try to reduce this landmark comic to a tidy message or thesis about “what it means,” we embrace the glorious messiness of DKR. By examining all the complexities and contradictions of the series, we try to foster an honest and true appreciation of this landmark work. Thanks to everyone who's listened to us over the past two years and 50 episodes. There's a lot more great stuff to come. Ten years after an aging Batman retired, Gotham City has sunk deeper into decadence and lawlessness. Now, when his city needs him most, the Dark Knight returns in a blaze of glory. Joined by Carrie Kelly, a teenaged Robin, Batman takes to the streets to end the threat of the mutant gangs that have overrun the city. And after facing off against his two greatest enemies, the Joker and Two-Face, for the final time, Batman finds himself in mortal combat with his former ally, Superman. Was man nicht tut. Aber hört doch einfach selbst. Deshalb seid ihr doch hier. Bereits im Jahr 2008 ist der beste Superhelden-Film erschienen, der seitdem nicht mehr übertroffen wurde. Batman: The Dark Knight hätte es in seiner jetzigen Form allerdings fast nie gegeben. Christopher Nolans eigener Bruder musste den Regisseur dazu überreden, für den zweiten Film seiner Batman-Trilogie zurückzukommen.

https://amzn.to/3KY6r51 In this sequel to Frank Miller's seminal graphic novel Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, it's three years later and the DC Universe is at peace. At least on the surface. And Batman must return once again to save the world from themselves. Still, the world looks fine: a perfectly choreographed, pretty little world where everything that's ugly, or even potentially disturbing, is all nicely wrapped up with neat little ribbons and swept under the carpet. Only Batman knows better. He's watched it fester to near-breaking point, and it's time for the only free man left who can effect any real change to bring it all down around their ears once and for all. The Dark Knight returns once again with a vitality unseen since the first years of his war on crime. Together with his army of Bat-soldiers, including Carrie Kelley—formerly Robin, and now the new Catgirl—the Dark Knight wages a new war on a diseased world that's become completely lost. Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again features appearances by such DC icons as Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, the Atom, the Question and more. But are they still the World's Greatest Heroes or part of the conspiracy? This incredible volume, designed by multiple award-winner Chipp Kidd, features a new introduction by Miller commenting on returning to the world he created fifteen years ago. The book includes the complete 3-part story, plus numerous sketches and other never-before-seen material. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Frank Miller's epic interpretation of the Dark Knight's future continues with this new slipcase edition that reprints each issue of the original Dark Knight Returns miniseries in its own hardcover volume, all in a beautifully designed slipcase. It is ten years after an aging Batman has retired, and Gotham City has sunk into decadence and lawlessness. Now, as his city needs him most, the Dark Knight returns in a blaze of glory. Joined by Carrie Kelly, a teenaged Robin, Batman takes to the streets to end the threat of the mutant gangs that have overrun the city. And after facing off against The Joker and Two-Face for the final time, Batman finds himself in mortal combat with his former ally, Superman, in a battle that only one will survive. https://amzn.to/3KmZwlj https://www.dc.com/graphic-novels/the-dark-knight-returns-1986/batman-the-dark-knight-returns-0 Learn more about your ad choices. In Batman, The Dark Knight, Bruce Wayne said "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. I can do those things because I'm not a hero, not like Dent. I killed those people. That's what I can be... I'm whatever Gotham needs me to be. Call it in."The quote above gives us can be converted into a powerful life lesson from Batman, the Dark Knight by adding a different perspective. In Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) we say "The one with the most flexibility wins." People who are more adaptable and flexible with their approaches will more-likely get the results they want. The more options you have, the more power you have.Batman, the dark knight, is constantly pushing against his own limits. He has a vision to create a better world and he will not rest until it happens. In fact, it is his very purpose to make this happen - because he experienced the alternative first-hand - losing his parents at a young age because of crime in Gotham city.He could've easily gotten stuck in his Ego and the legend of Batman - but his purpose was to serve Gotham - not himself. He was willing to change or adapt his approach to achieving the results that mattered the most - ultimately even sacrificing his identity (again) for the sake of his goals.Answer these questions:1. What do you want out of life?2. What are you willing to do to get it?3. What are you not willing to do that's stopping you from getting it?4. How can you be just 10% more flexible in your approach? The Dark Knight Ending Speech--HQhttps://youtu.be/jAj20UOc3DEOriginal YouTube Video: https://youtu.be/riERYsnCSfg. ***Connect and Support Geek Psychology #geekpsychology ***Socials, courses, and 1-on-1 coaching services: geekpsychology.com INFP only community and safe place and INFP MasterclassGeeky Myers Briggs Personality Type MerchSupport on Patreon
