Coaster Radio is back after a week off, and there is a lot to cover. First Drop: Cotaland, the park next to Circuit of the Americas outside Austin, Texas, just held its grand opening as a full-time amusement park. It now has the world's first shuttle Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster (Palindrome), a tilt coaster (Circuit Breaker), a Schwarzkopf Wildcat, a log flume, and a 150-foot Star Flyer. Mike and EB explain why they both thought ArieForce One was headed there. In Quick Hits, Mike and EB salute Arthur Levine, who is retiring after decades covering the amusement industry and has appeared on the show 40 times, far more than any other guest. Lagoon is teasing a racing-themed 2027 announcement for October 3rd. The Fun Spot Atlanta auction has 413 lots, and the prices so far are hilarious (a Dragon Wagon coaster for $3,600 and a 4D simulator for $200). Then EB files a two-part trip report from Family Kingdom in Myrtle Beach, covering the 1968 wooden coaster Swamp Fox, the Twist and Shout wild mouse, and a field where an RMC Raptor will open in 2027. After the break, the Halloween contest gets its first entry, a very threatening clown. Then the mailbag delivers park maps and a mountain of stamps for the Snail Mail Club. The main event is the 2026 Golden Ticket Awards. Dollywood dethrones Busch Gardens Williamsburg as the world's most beautiful park, Europa-Park takes best amusement park, and Voyage edges Phoenix for the top wooden coaster. Fury 325 tops the steel list ahead of VelociCoaster, Steel Vengeance, and Iron Gwazi. ArieForce One comes in at #11, and Mike and EB are both shocked it isn't higher. Along the way there are hot takes on Flying Turns, Apollo's Chariot, and Guardians of the Galaxy, plus a debate over whether AI can crunch 10 years of Golden Ticket rankings. Want to play along? As a baby raccoon, Rocket was captured and experimented on by the High Evolutionary, the leader of Orgocorp. The High Evolutionary is obsessed with creating a perfect society by genetically modifying animals into intelligent, humanoid creatures called Humanimals. Rocket proves to be unusually intelligent, and the High Evolutionary uses his ideas to improve future generations of Humanimals. But instead of being proud of Rocket, the High Evolutionary becomes jealous that one of his creations is able to solve problems that he can't. He decides to remove Rocket's brain and destroy the rest of his Humanimal friends. Rocket attacks him in a rage, takes down his henchmen, and escapes in a spaceship, eventually becoming the Rocket we know today.Back in the present, the Guardians enlist the help of an alternate version of Gamora, who is now a member of the Ravagers. Together, they break into Orgocorp and steal Rocket's file, only to discover that Theel, one of the High Evolutionary's advisors, has taken the override code.Off to Counter-Earth they go to confront the High Evolutionary and the Guardians quickly discover just how dangerous the High Evolutionary really is because he's planning to destroy the entire planet.They capture Theel and get the code to shut down Rocket's kill switch, but Rocket's heart stops, sending him into a near-death experience where he sees his Humanimal friends again and they tell him it's not his time. Peter Quill restarts his heart.There's also this group of kids that the Guardians rescue and before leaving, Rocket also discovers a group of imprisoned animals on the ship. The High Evolutionary confronts him. The Guardians defeat him, but Rocket chooses not to kill him.The Guardians help the animals and children escape to Knowhere. Quill nearly dies while trying to make it back, but Adam Warlock saves him after Groot had previously rescued Adam from the destruction of the ship.With the mission over, Peter decides it's time for him to leave the Guardians. He names Rocket the new captain before returning to Earth and reuniting with his grandfather, Jason. Rocket is the new lead and a new team of Guardians is ready to save the world. When Zeus injures Korg, Thor turns on him, stealing his magical thunderbolt before escaping with Valkyrie and the others. Thor learns that Jane is dying of cancer which obviously makes him real sad and they end up kisssingggg. The group travels to the Shadow Realm, where they discover Gorr's plan to use Stormbreaker to reach something called Eternity, a mysterious being that can grant one wish. Gorr eventually gets his hands on Stormbreaker, badly injuring Valkyrie and leaving Jane weakened. Thor realizes that using the hammer is actually making Jane's condition worse by preventing her body from properly fighting the cancer. Knowing he may not have much time, Thor heads to Eternity alone. Using Zeus's thunderbolt that he now has, he gives the kidnapped children his powers so they can fight Gorr's monsters while he takes on Gorr himself. When Jane realizes Thor is in danger, she joins him to help. Gorr makes his wish but ends up dying. He asks Thor to take care of Love. The hits keep coming and Jane ends up dying in Thor's arms. In the aftermath, Love returns to New Asgard and joins Thor on his adventures. Thor wields Mjolnir while Love carries Stormbreaker, and the two become an unlikely superhero duo. Amazon's God of War series is getting a new Kratos, and it might be the exact actor fans have been calling for since day one. SPOILER WARNING The new Supergirl movie had everything we wanted on paper: Milly Alcock as a more broken, bitter Kara Zor-El, a fresh contrast to Superman's optimism, Krypto the Superdog, Jason Momoa as Lobo, and a chance to keep the new DC Universe momentum going after James Gunn's Superman. Unfortunately… we did not love this one. In this spoiler-heavy Supergirl movie review, we break down why the movie felt more like DC's Babysitters Club than a bold new superhero adventure, why Kara's “punk rock” attitude never quite lands, why the Ruthie revenge plot feels weirdly underwritten, and why the movie's feminist ideas feel more like random ingredients thrown into a blender than an actual story. We also get into the Krypto problem, the Jason Momoa/Lobo cameo, the discourse around whether Supergirl is bombing because of misogyny, the bizarre ending, the comparisons to Guardians of the Galaxy, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Superman, and whether this movie hurts our excitement for the future of the DCU. Bad boy Thanos gets an infinity stone, the Power Stone. Thanos easily overwhelms the remaining Asgardians, beats up Hulk, and steals the Space Stone from Loki's Tesseract. He then kills Loki. Thanos then destroys the ship and continues his hunt. Edris Elba helps make sure that Hulk returns to earth, where he crashes through the New York Sanctum. Back as Bruce, He warns Doctor Stephen Strange and Wong that Thanos is coming.  Tony Stark joins the conversation. Before he can call Steve Rogers to get the band back together, they attack the city to claim the Time Stone from Strange. Spider-Man is pulled into the chaos, and after they captures Strange aboard his spaceship, Stark and Peter Parker secretly hitch a ride into space to rescue him while Wong remains behind to defend the Sanctum. Meanwhile, the Guardians of the Galaxy answer a distress signal and save Thor floating in space. They agree they need to work together to stop Thanos. But they're too late. Thanos already possesses the Reality Stone and uses its power to manipulate everything around them. He captures Gamora after learning she knows the location of the Soul Stone. Desperate to save her adopted sister Nebula from torture, Gamora tells him where the stone is .  When they get there, the keeper of the Soul Stone, one Red Skull, reveals the price required to obtain it: the sacrifice of someone truly loved. In one of the film's most tragic moments, Thanos throws Gamora to her death, earning the Soul Stone. Vision and Wanda are ambushed in Scotland by Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive, who attempt to rip the Mind Stone from Vision's forehead. Captain America, Black Widow, and Falcon arrive just in time to save them, bringing the wounded Vision back to the Avengers Compound. Vision urges Wanda to destroy the Mind Stone and kill him if necessary to stop Thanos, but she cannot bring herself to do it. Instead, the team heads to Wakanda, believing Shuri may be able to safely remove the stone without sacrificing Vision's life. Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Doctor Strange end up on Titan and come face to face with Star-Lord, Drax, and Mantis and they realize they're in the same team.  Using the Time Stone, Strange studies millions of possible futures and discovers only one path where they succeed. Together they execute an elaborate plan to restrain Thanos and remove the Infinity Gauntlet. For a moment, it almost works—until Nebula reveals that Gamora is dead. Overcome with grief and rage, Star-Lord attacks Thanos, ruining the team's hold on him. Thanos breaks free, defeats everyone, and nearly kills Iron Man. To save Tony's life, Doctor Strange willingly surrenders the Time Stone, despite knowing how dangerous it is. In Wakanda, the Avengers prepare for an all-out invasion from Thanos's army. Bruce Banner, unable to transform into Hulk, enters battle wearing the Hulkbuster armor. The tide finally turns when Thor arrives in spectacular fashion alongside Rocket and Groot, tearing through Thanos's army with his fresh new hammer/ax combo, Stormbreaker. Despite their efforts, Thanos himself eventually reaches Vision. Wanda heartbreakingly destroys the Mind Stone—and Vision with it—just before Thanos can claim it. But using the Time Stone, Thanos reverses time, restores Vision briefly to life, and violently tears the stone from his forehead, killing him again. With all six Infinity Stones finally united, the Infinity Gauntlet is complete. Thor attacks and buries Stormbreaker deep into Thanos's chest, but Thanos coldly tells him he “should have gone for the head.” He snaps his fingers and vanishes. Across the universe, half of all life immediately turns to dust. Bucky Barnes, Black Panther, Groot, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, Drax, and Mantis all fade away. On Earth, Nick Fury manages to send a desperate signal from a mysterious pager moments before he too disappears. The survivors are left shattered and defeated. Tony Stark and Nebula are stranded on Titan. The remaining Avengers stand in stunned silence in Wakanda.
