The Gents are back for a special one off podcast to celebrate the 5th year anniversary of the Bourbon Gents. Prepared to be whelmed by Mr Pie and Mav as they look back over the last 5 years, bring back some old favourites like ‘Battle of the Bourbons' & ‘Three of Our Favourite Things', plus we share some kind messages from our loyal fan base (all 7 of you) Its the podcast you never knew you missed until now! Enjoy!
Andy & Stu are joined by Mr Pie & Mav of our brother podcast, the Bourbon Gents, to talk about bourbons, mash ups, and Top Gun. More specifically, we review two wonderful Bourbons, EH Taylor Small Batch, and Noah's Mill, and play some mash up songs to accompany them. We also chat to our guests about their website and podcast, and find out more about them on the "Listener Bit". You can find out more about them at http://www.bourbongents.com. Don't forget to follow us on twitter & Instagram @thisismydram, and head to our website http://thisismydram.com for all our podcasts, playlists and blogs. Cheers! This is last ever episode of the Bourbon Gents podcast. Ever! We would like to thank all of our listeners who have been with us on this journey over the last 2 years. Both Myself (Mav) and Mr Pie have had a blast recording the show and getting all your feedback - which admittedly at the start was mainly about how bad the audio quality was :) We decided this would be the last episode about 15 minutes before we recorded so we ended up throwing the normal format out of the window and instead just messed around for 45 minutes. So please don't expect any bourbon related content in this one. It's just Mav and Mr Pie having a laugh for the final time on the podcast. Enjoy!
Time for a rebrand as the "Bourbon Gentlemen" for an episode... we immediately deny any copyright issue with the Bourbon Gents podcast - see you in court boys! So with our Bourbon hats on for a change, we review Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon. Four Roses was the favourite tipple of American writer William Faulkner, so we play songs with a literary theme to go with the whiskey. Andy's "Science Bit" doesn't quite make a return, but we do have a suitable alternative for this episode to keep the fans happy... Visit http://thisismydram.com/ for our podcasts, blogs and playlists, and follow us on Twitter and Instagram @thisismydram ... Enjoy! In this episode (the first numbered one in over a month) we get back to basics. No World Cup draw, no April foolery, just the good old Bourbon Gents podcast you know and love - or at least kinda like. The Gents tiptoe through a gender minefield, face off in a Bourbon Battle, review Weller 12, and do a blind side by side comparison of Elijah Craig 12yo and the new NAS Small Batch. Can we tell the difference? Listen on to find out. And, as always, we bring you another round of #TOOFT. One 3rd of which is us discussing our favourite person called 'Dave'. P.S - We don't know why this episode sounds like we recorded in a tunnel. Normal sound quality will return next time we hope. Enjoy!
As the Gents have been busy with the World Cup for the past month we haven't been able to record our regular scheduled podcast. Never ones to disappoint their loyal listeners we have instead a rare 'treat' for you. Long long ago, before the Bourbon Gents even existed, and before we had a website, we used to record podcasts to pass the time while we worked abroad. We never published these anywhere and only our work colleagues ever heard them... until now. For one time only, sit back and listen to Mav and Mr Pie back in good old 2012, when we knew practically nothing about bourbon and had no idea what we were doing. Hope you laugh at this as much as we did! Enjoy. NOTE: - We have since revealed that this was an April Fools joke! Well done to all who spotted it and 'haha' to all of those who believed it ;)
It's that time of year again! Try to contain your excitement as the gents draw the bourbons' who will be entered into this years tournament. The Bourbon Gents World Cup starts on the 9th March and this time there will be twice as many entries as last year. That's right a whopping 64 teams (bourbons) will be picked from a hat (bowl) to see who will play who in the first round. So if you like the idea of listening to Mav and Mr Pie read a loads of names from a bits of paper then this is the podcast for you. For everyone else we will have a re-cap in the main podcast (ep - 25). Oh and be prepared for a lot of paper rustling. Enjoy.
In this slightly delayed episode of the podcast we discuss Mav's trip to Scotland, rant yet again about the crazy world of whiskey scoring systems, and make Bourbon Gents history in the blind tasting section. For our review we taste the lesser spotted (at least in the UK) Blade and Bow bourbon and attempt to explain the solera system. In the bourbon battle we face off 2 heavyweights of the bourbon world, and for TOOFT fans we have a bit of a mixed bag. Enjoy!
In this episode we kick off the first podcast of the new year by introducing a new snappier (we hope) format, intended to cut out some of the waffle and focus on the things that make the Bourbon Gents... well the Bourbon Gents! We review our Bourbon Of the Year G. T. Stagg, try our hand at tongue twisters, and have our best attempt yet at guessing a blind tasting. Enjoy!
This week our heroes discuss running around and throwing colors in Ypsilanti, drinking beer in Ypsilanti, and dropping our phones onto the sidewalk in (you guessed it) Ypsilanti. We also discuss some video games and how iPads are the future of computing, which I wouldn't are is Ypsilanti-related per se. So pour yourself a glass of your favorite batch of Woodford Reserve, dim the lights, and come along with us on this grand experience we like to call Techdown. Bourbon Gents #14 "Mr Pie's High Rye" CBW Nakey SUPER HOT SUPER HOT
In this episode, Andy and Stu take a (metaphorical) trip over the pond to experience the delights of American bourbons. The Bourbon Gents challenged us to taste Bulleit on the episode, and we decided to try Wild Turkey rare breed too. We create a playlist of American country music (in a loose sense!) to accompany the stripes and stars of the whiskey! The episode therefore starts with an interview with one of the Bourbon Gents, Mr Pie, to tell us why bourbon, and why they challenged us to Bulleit. We also have all the usual features, the science bit, jingle wars, and a brand new feature... the drama league table! This will also be available on our blog... http://thisismydram.wordpress.com. Remember to follow us on twitter @thisismydram, and enjoy the episode!
