This Is My Dram is a podcast in which we review a whisky and play songs to go with it along a thematic link to the whisky
The final episode of This is my Dram - and we go out with a … well… mild fanfare. With an episode full of reminiscing and songs along a “Goodbye” theme, Andy and Stu bid farewell to a brilliant 5 and a half years of chatting whisky and music.

Welcome back to our 10th series! This series is one where we are trying to get some of our "Bucket List" guests on, starting with the wonderful Dave Worthington, Ambassador for That Boutique-y Whisky Company. Dave joins us over zoom to talk about the Tennessee Bourbon whisky 14yr - an incredible bottling from TBWC. We also play some songs along a graphic novel theme, to go with the whisky, along a rather tenuous theme relating to Emily Chappell's fantastic label for this bottle (it features Rick from the Walking Dead... but we'll leave Andy to explain the rest on the pod!) You can follow Dave on twitter @BoutiqueyDave Remember to like and subscribe to the podcast, and follow us @thisismydram on Twitter and Instagram, and go to http://thisismydram.com for all our podcasts, playlists, and blogs. Cheers! This Is My Dram have a LOML licence through PRS - so we can play full tracks!
Andy and Stu end the series with a bang!... well... moderate fanfare, perhaps, by inviting back regular guest and friend of the podcast Sorren Krebs, to tell us all about his new role as ambassador for the English Whisky Company. We taste the Rum Cask Matured small batch bottling, and we play some pirate themed songs to go with it... though both Andy and Stu take pretty different interpretations of the theme! Please like & subscribe to the podcast, and follow us on twitter and instagram @thisismydram, and go to thisismydram.com for all our podcasts, playlists, and blogs. Cheers! This Is My Dram have an LOML licence from PRS to allow us to play full tracks on the podcast.
Andy & Stu delve back into the world of Icelandic single malt whisky, by trying the intriguingly named Floki Sheep Dung Smoked Reserve single malt from the Eimverk Distillery, it's certainly one to get people talking! For a music theme, we couldn't resist linking to the "dung" theme so we have gone for songs with a "toilet" related theme... accompanied by lots of extremely mature and grown up toilet humour, of course. Please like and subscribe to the podcast, and follow us on instagram and twitter @thisismydram. You can go to our website: thisismydram.com for all our podcasts, playlists, and blogs. Cheers! Andy & Stu are joined by Dan Humphrey from Summerton Club to discuss the unique and inspiring Mackmyra Grönt Te - a worlds first Green Tea finished whisky. We talk to Dan about his whisky subscription service, and he is subjected to the trials and tribulations of the "Listener Bit". We also play some songs along an Environmental theme (Green Tea... Green... the environment.. geddit?). Remember to follow us on twitter & instagram @thisismydram and go to thisismydram.com for all of our podcasts, playlists, and blogs. Cheers! This Is My Dram is 50! We celebrate our 50th episode with a 50 year old whisky! The stunning Invergordon 50 year old whisky from Douglas Laing's XOP range, a single grain whisky distilled in 1964. Our "mystery guest" (...ok, it's regular guest Sorren! aka ocdwhisky) was kind enough to donate a dram of the old stuff for tasting on this podcast, and joins us for the tasting itself. We also play music from 1964 to go with it, and Andy tries out a new section... with mixed results! Please follow us on twitter and Instagram @thisismydram, and go to thisismydram.com for all our podcasts, playlists, and blogs. Cheers! Here's to another 50! Andy & Stu are joined by Sorren Krebs - author if the OCDwhisky blog https://ocdwhisky.com/ - to review a beautiful distillery exclusive single cask Auchentoshan whisky. It is matured in cask 4447, an oloroso maturation to give a stunning heavily sherried dram. The lads also play some songs from Glasgow bands to accompany the whisky, given the distillery's proximity to the famous Scottish city. In the final episode of the series... we go back to basics with no interviews, no guests, and no new features... pulling out all the stops for the series finale then?!... ok fine, we're lazy. However what we DO have to offer is an amazing Irish Whiskey. We try the incredible Teeling 24 year old Vintage Reserve Collection, and play some Irish songs to accompany it. Remember to follow us on twitter and instagram @thisismydram, and go to thisismydram.com for all of our podcasts, playlists, and blogs. Cheers! See you in series 8! In this episode, Andy & Stu don their flat caps, and taste one of the maturing malts projects from the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery. The song theme is, as you can probably guess, songs from and/or about Yorkshire. There's also an interview with Joe Clark, the Director of Whisky from the distillery, about their upcoming single malt whisky, and their pride at keeping it local. Finally, all the usual features (the Science Bit and Dramier League table) make an appearance. More specifically, we review two wonderful Bourbons, EH Taylor Small Batch, and Noah's Mill, and play some mash up songs to accompany them. On this Episode, Stu and Andy try the intriguing blended whisky from That Boutique-y Whisky Co, which is a 21 year old Blend of Japanese & Scotch Whiskies. Given the lack of information available on which distilleries the whiskies come from, can they use a bit of detective work to figure out where the component parts come from (spoiler alert: No) To accompany the whisky, the lads play some songs that have a mix of genres, to complement the mix of whisky genres in the dram itself. This leads to an eclectic playlist of tracks of all styles! The episode also has the usual features of the Dramier League table and the science bit, and the Listener bit guest is the enigma that is @derekcuster on twitter (listen on to find out if that's his real name!). Enjoy! Please like and subscribe to the podcast, follow us on twitter and instagram @thisismydram, and go to our website http://thisismydram.com for all our playlists, podcasts, and blogs. Happy New Year to all the This Is My Dram listeners! We celebrate the new year by looking back at our favourite songs of 2018, and review an 18 year old whisky to tie in with the year... A GlenDronach no less, the 18 year old in their core range is named "Allardice" (though, thankfully not after Big Sam!), and is a sherried beatuy! We also have the usual Science Bit, Dramier League Table, answer a burning question from #askusanything on Twitter, and tell you about a few other things we enjoyed in 2018. MERRY CHRISTMAS! From This Is My Dram! In this Christmassy episode, Andy & Stu give each other a whisky present, which they taste blind on the podcast... literally in one case! THey are a beautiful single cask Bunnahabhain and a wintery mulled wine finished Mackmyra Vinterglod. Wow! They also play some Christmassy tunes to go with the drams, and Brian (@maltmusings) does the Listener Bit - you can find his blog here: http://malt-musings.blogspot.com/ Please follow us on twitter and instagram @thisismydram, and go to our website http://www.thisismydram.com/ for all our podcasts, playlists, and blogs. In this series finale, Andy & Stu embark on a journey into the future *bleepy noises" ... or something. They try the Whisky Show's 10th Anniversary bottling of a 12 year old Ledaig, labelled "The Present Future". To keep up the futuristic theme, the lads play songs with a "future" theme to accompany the whisky. Including everything from daft punk, to 1920s classical music from the futurist movement - eclectic, to say the least! Andy & Stu are also joined by Aiden Bertie (@Bobafett2K6 on Twitter) for the listener bit, and the Science Bit and Dramier League table feature as usual. Remember to follow us on Twitter and Instagram @thisismydram, and go to our website thisismydram.com for more playlists, podcasts, and blogs. Enjoy! In this jam packed episode, we take part in a youtube livestream with whisky-tuber No Nonsense Whisky (a.k.a Vin PF) in which we discuss the Arran 18 whisky. We also put together a playlist of songs with a theme of Golden Eagles, in reference to the nesting Golden Eagles that delayed the building of the Arran Distillery. We also have regular features, the Science Bit, the Listener Bit, and the Dramier League Table. You can let us know what you think of the episode by following us on Twitter or Instagram @thisismydram, or go to our website, thisismydram.com. Enjoy! Welcome all Peat freaks! This episode we review two of the peatiest whiskies money can buy: Bruichladdich's Octomore 8.1 and 8.2, both a massive 167 PPM. We pair the whisky with a playlist focused on 8/Octo to go with it. We are also joined by a guest and big fan of the Bruichladdich distillery, John. You can follow him on twitter @jwbassman_ , and find out all about him as he takes on the grilling questions in "the listener bit". We also have regular features the Science Bit and the Dramier League Table. G'Day mate! We go Down Under (in spirit, anyway) for this Australian themed episode, where we review Starward whisky's 10th Anniversary bottling. We also play songs to go along with it along a space theme, given the distillery's out of this world name and bottle designs. We also have a new feature, the "listener bit" with this episode featuring our favourite Australian listener, Daniel Hoper (@why_not_whisky on twitter), and... does the Science Bit finally return?! well... I wouldn't want to ruin it for you, so you'll have to listen to find out. This episode features a feature on the Isle of Raasay distillery - a new distillery, only 1 year old, and based just off the Isle of Skye on the charming idyllic Raasay. The feature includes an interview with Isle of Raasay Distillery brand ambassador Chris Hoban
A brand new series kicks off with a slightly different style of episode, we start with a documentary piece on Stu's trip to the Yoichi distillery in Japan in November last year. This is followed by a tasting of the Single Malt Yoichi Whisky, and a comparison to the distillery exclusive "Peaty & Salty" expression. As always, we score the whisky for the Dramier League table, and play some Japanese music to go with the Japanese whisky. All of the background music played on the documentary section of this podcast will be included on our spotify playlist - so head to the blog at http://thisismydram.com to listen to a full playlist of the music, and to see some more pictures from the Yoichi distillery. Meanwhile, please follow us on twitter and instagram @thisismydram, so we can chat to you all! This is my Dram has a LOML licence from PRS to allow us to play full tracks on the podcast.
In the last episode of our budget series, we review the blended Irish Whiskey: Bushmills Black Bush. Given Andy has relocated back home to Northern Ireland, just down the road from the Bushmills Distillery, we thought it was worth exploring a budget whiskey from his hometown, and we pair it with songs about relocating and moving. Please follow us on Twitter and Instagram @thisismydram, and head to our website (http:/thisismydram.com)for the full playlist from this episode, as well as our other podcasts and blogs. Cheers! This Is My Dram is licenced to play full songs on the podcast through a PRS LOML licence.
This episode, we review a beautiful Irish budget Whiskey matured in Spanish sherry butts... Writer's Tears Red Head from Walsh Whiskey. We pair it with some songs by brilliant red head musicians. One of those musicians is Rebecca Jones, who we interview over Skype and get her thoughts on the whiskey as well as her music. As always, we would love to hear from you so please follow us on Twitter or Instagram @thisismydram, and head over to our website http://www.thisismydram.com for all our playlists to go with the episodes, and our blogs. This is my Dram has a LOML licence from PRS so we can play full tracks.
Time for a rebrand as the "Bourbon Gentlemen" for an episode... we immediately deny any copyright issue with the Bourbon Gents podcast - see you in court boys! So with our Bourbon hats on for a change, we review Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon. Four Roses was the favourite tipple of American writer William Faulkner, so we play songs with a literary theme to go with the whiskey. Andy's "Science Bit" doesn't quite make a return, but we do have a suitable alternative for this episode to keep the fans happy... Visit http://thisismydram.com/ for our podcasts, blogs and playlists, and follow us on Twitter and Instagram @thisismydram ... Enjoy! This Is My Dram have a LOML licence from PRS to play full tracks on the podcast.
In this episode, we tackle the goliath brand of the Whisky industry - Johnnie Walker! We taste the Black Label 12 year old blended whisky (fitting within our budget range of £20-£40) and play some UK No 1 hits to accompany this No1 best selling whisky brand - finding No 1 songs that didn't harm our "impeccable" (...ahem) reputation was somewhat challenging, but we certainly embraced it! Don't forget to follow us on Twitter and Instagram @thisismydram, and go to thisismydram.com for all our podcasts, playlists, and blogs. Cheers! This Is My Dram is licensed to play full tracks through a LOML licence from PRS.
In the second episode of our budget whisky series, we review the well known blended malt Monkey Shoulder, and create a playlist of songs about Monkeys to go with it! Welcome to a BRAND NEW SERIES, and the start of our "budget whiskies" series. Our first budget whisky is a Glen Moray Elgin Classic Sherry cask finish whisky, which can generally be found for the ridiculous price of £20-£25. We also have a great interview with Whisky guru and all round nice guy Dave Broom, who is raising money for his new documentary film called the Amber Light. You can support the project here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1186204465/the-amber-light?ref=discovery&term=the%20amber%20light But be quick! The kickstarter ends on 6th April 2018. To go along with the Amber Light film, we continue the film theme by playing songs from film soundtracks on the podcast, including a song suggested by Dave Broom. Follow us on twitter & instagram @thisismydram, and keep up with The Amber Light film @amberlightfilm. You can also find all our podcast episodes, blogs and playlist at http://www.thisismydram.com. An explosive (or not...) final episode of our fourth season in which we try a Gordon & MacPhail cask strength Miltonduff whisky, which was 20 years old and an absolute beaut! We were lucky enough to sit down with G&M's very own Ben Bowers at the Newcastle Whisky festival and discuss how the company is evolving, and try the whisky itself. We play some tracks, as always, to accompany the whisky, and this time we focussed on festival headliners to keep in with the theme of the whisky festival we attended. We also have a song suggestion from a twitter friend we met at the festival, Scott Munro, and do the usual Science Bit, and Dramier League Table. Please follow us on twitter @thisismydram, and visit our website http://www.thisismydram.com. Cheers! This Is My Dram have a PRS LOML licence to play full tracks on the podcast.
Delving into a beautiful whiskey from the north shores of the emerald isle, the lads review Bushmills 21 and pair it with some music with a theme of "home" given half of This Is My Dram (Andy) grew up just down the road from the famous Bushmills distillery. They also have the usual Science Bit and Dramier League Table, as well as a 20 second review of some Caol Ila 12 whisky fudge from Sarah aka @iheartwhisky... it's fair to say the This Is My Dram team are now undeniably whisky fudge addicts. Follow us on twitter @thisismydram, and check out all our blogs and podcasts at thisismydram.com - Enjoy! This Is My Dram have a PRS LOML licence to play full tracks on their podcast.

Merry Christmas to all This Is My Dram listeners! Our Christmas special is (accidentally!) all about Glenfarclas. Andy and Stu bought each other Christmas presents then each had to try their present blind. It turned out that the presents were coincidentally the Glenfarclas 105 and the Glenfarclas 1996 Premium Edition (bottled in 2017). Other than the lovely Glenfarclas whisky - the lads share some more of their favourite alternative Christmas music, a bit different from the usual selections at this time of year! Finally there is a chance to win a bottle to Glefarclas 105! Have a listen to find out how (UK only). Have a lovely Christmas, and we'll be back in 2018! Cheers! This Is My Dram have an LOML licence from PRS to play full tracks on the podcast.
Andy and Stu continue the 4th series with a Japanese special of the This Is My Dram podcast, featuring a tasting of the Yamazaki 12 and the much coveted Yamazaki 18, as well as discussion of Stu's recent visit to the Yamazaki distillery just outside of Kyoto. The lads create a playlist of weird and wonderful music related to the land of the rising sun itself: Japan. The usual features, the Science Bit and the Dramier League Table are present as always, and Stu discusses a bizarre experience in a Japanese Onsen... you have been warned! Enjoy! This Is My Dram have a LOML licence from PRS to play full tracks on the podcast.
Like pt.1, this episode was recorded at the Whisky Lounge York Whisky Festival, and features a tasting we did of a Glen Moray 1994 sherry cask, single cask single malt Whisky that Sorren Krebs (find his blog here: https://ocdwhisky.wordpress.com) had brought along for a bit of a tasting during the interval at the festival. Also involved were Ed Milner (@MrEdwardMilner on twitter) and his friend Tom. We decided to pair this Whisky with some songs from Albums released in 1994 - a cracking year for music as well as the distillation date of this fantastic Whisky! Follow us on Twitter @thisismydram and find out more about our podcasts and other stuff on http://www.thisismydram.com/ This Is My Dram are licenced to play full tracks, through a LOML licence from PRS.
A Brand new series starts with a spooky Halloween special ('cos nobody has thought of that idea before...right?). We review a That Boutiquey Whisky Company 22 year old single malt bottling from the Mortlach distillery. We recorded part of this episode at the Whisky Lounge York Whisky Festival, where we tried the Whisky and got to speak to lots of lovely whisky people, including Dave Worthington from That Boutiquey Whisky Company who gave us some information about the Whisky as well as a song choice for our Halloween playlist! Meanwhile we have a brand new feature: Tasting Notes - a collaboration with blogger and all round good guy Andy, better know as Amateur Drammer (https://amateurdrammer.com) and we interview the lady behind the fudge, Sarah aka @iheartwhisky on twitter who makes amazing Whisky fudge. Follow us on twitter @thisismydram and check out our website for playlist and blogs: http://www.thisismydram.com/ This Is My Dram are licensed to play full tracks through a LOML licence from PRS.
In this BIG series finale, Andy & Stu are joined by Carl Reavey from the Bruichladdich Distillery for an interview about the distillery itself and the whisky they are reviewing on this episode: the Classic Laddie. This whisky was a listener suggestion (thanks Daniel Hoper!) and we were challenged to create a playlist of songs related to the whisky by picking songs outside of a bands usually genre (to reflect the unpeated Islay dram... usually associated with heated whiskies). You'll hear songs from Nirvana and The Futureheads amongst others as a result. Thanks for everyone's support and help with series 3 - we can't wait to be back with series 4 and hopefully a few surprises up our sleeve. Sláinte! The legal bit!: This Is My Dram have a LOML licence from PRS allowing them to play full tracks on their podcasts.
PLEASE NOTE: we recommend you listen to S3E5 before this episode. In this extra bonus episode of the podcast, Andy & Stu review a whisky they think they may dislike in this relegation dram special: 808 Whisky. This Whisky is named after the famous Roland TR-808 drum machine, which links nicely in with the idea of our podcast... if only the Whisky was as good as the drum machine... We also play one of the most famous songs to feature the TR-808, and This Is My Dram superfans (our mums, basically) can hear the origins of the famous (!) This Is My Dram theme tune. Enjoy! This Is My Dram have a LOML licence from PRS which allows the to play full tracks on their podcast.
Andy & Stu review the fantastic Aberlour A'bunadh and play some "first singles" from bands to go along with the Scottish Gaelic meaning of the Whisky's name: "of the origin". Look out for the bonus relegation dram episode soon. Please follow us on twitter @thisismydram and check out our website for more information, playlists and details of the podcasts: http://www.thisismydram.com This Is My Dram have a LOML licence from PRS to play music on their podcasts.
Andy & Stu are joined by a very special guest from Gordon & MacPhail; Ben Bowers (aka @adramaday), who brings along a Bunnahabhain sherry matured Cask Strength G&M expression to taste. This is paired with a some music themed around covers and remixes to reflect how Gordon & MacPhail release different versions of whisky from some classic distilleries. The lads also try a relegation dram, Fujikai 10yr, an "interesting" dram to say the least! They also have a much more pleasant experience trying some fudge from @iheartwhisky. Andy & Stu discuss the joys of Kilkerran Whisky and play tracks from musicians who have released music under alter egos/alternative names, given that Kilkerran is released under a different name to the Glengyle distillery where it is created. The lads are also joined by the Regional Sales Manager at Kilkerran, David Allen, who gives us an insight into the Whisky and tells us what we can expect from Kilkerran in the future. Meanwhile, we have the usual features: The Science Bit and The Dramier League table, and we ask listeners to suggest local whisky shops in their area and share on twitter using the hashtag #buylocalTIMD... Enjoy! This is My Dram is licenced to play full tracks thanks to a LOML licence from PRS.
Back with another jam-packed episode! Andy & Stu have a very special guest this episode as they speak to the creator of the whisky they are reviewing... Angela D'Orazio is the Master Blender at Mackmyra, and has created the gorgeous Mackmyra Ten Years, their first age statement whisky. The lads review the Whisky itself and create a Swedish playlist to go with it, playing 5 tracks in full on the playlist including a song selected by Angela herself. The also try the new make spirit "Vit Hund" to compare how the whisky evolves during its 10 years in the casks. We also announce the results of our first ever competition to win 5 drams of Whisky. Remember to follow us on Twitter @Thisismydram, and check out our blog http://thisismydram.wordpress.com. This is my Dram has a LOML licence through PRS which allows them to play full songs.
