Episode Overview:  In this episode of The Penis Project Podcast, Melissa talks with Mark, a 56-year-old rural firefighter from the South West of Western Australia, about a prostate cancer journey that has had just about everything in it: an aggressive cancer, surgery, a rising PSA, salvage radiation, penile rehabilitation, one very memorable trip to the emergency department, and a bloke who simply refused to sit down and feel sorry for himself.  Mark had never been crook in his life. He only asked for a PSA test because a mate who had been through prostate cancer kept nagging him about it. During a routine work medical, his mate's voice popped into his head, and he asked the doctor for the test. The GP asked why. Mark asked for it anyway. The result came back with an elevated PSA, and as Mark puts it, he nearly fell off the chair.  What followed was a biopsy in Bunbury, a two-hour trip from home, a Gleason 8 diagnosis, and a radical prostatectomy in Perth, four hours away. Mark and Melissa talk about the tyranny of distance in Australia: every appointment being a whole day, the cost of staying away from home, and the men Mark met who were driving four hours a day for radiation because they had nowhere to stay.  Mark also talks about the parts nobody warned him about. The catheter that started leaking around the sides and scared the daylights out of him. The pads. The pelvic floor exercises he started before surgery because his mate Grant told him to, and which he credits with getting him dry within a few weeks. And then, months later, a phone call from his surgeon to say the PSA was creeping back up. Which resulted in radiation treatment. He declined the testosterone-lowering therapy that was offered alongside the radiation, because he did not want the fatigue and flatness during fire season. He worked right through his treatment, and three days after his last “nuking session”, as he calls it, he pulled up at work to get the job done.  And yes, we talk about erections. Mark did the work: the daily tablets, the vacuum pump, and eventually injections. The first injection dose was too generous and Mark ended up in a country emergency department with an erection that would not go down and, by his count, six or seven people in the room having a look at his old fella. It is a very funny story and also a serious one. It changed how Melissa practises: every country patient now goes home with an emergency reversal injection so nobody else has to make that drive.  This is a warm, funny, plain-speaking conversation about what it takes to get through prostate cancer treatment especially when you live a long way from anywhere, and about why looking after your penis is not optional extra credit. He says it is a bit like going to war: if you have not been there, you do not know. Having a mate who told him warts and all meant he walked into every appointment knowing roughly what was coming and what to ask.  And when things go wrong, his answer is simple. You can sit there and cry, or you can punch on. Mark is a realist. He knows the PSA may go up again. If it does, he will deal with it then. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Nigerian Muslims killed 11 in Adamawa State On September 7, suspected Boko Haram Muslim terrorists murdered at least 11 people in Zaranga Village located in the Adamawa State in Nigeria, reports International Christian Concern. The attackers entered the community before dawn, shooting residents and setting houses ablaze. One heartbroken man said, “My wife and two of my family members were killed during the early morning invasion of my village.” No doubt Amos 5:24 is the prayer to God of Nigerian Christians today. “Let justice roll down like waters.” Please send a polite, 4-sentence note to the Nigerian Ambassador to America, Lateef Are, urging him to ask his government to do more to protect people from the unabated Muslim violence. Water and power shortages. Dwindling fuel and crumbling homes. Limited public transportation and weak cellphone signals. The psychological toll of daily life in Cuba is pushing many to their breaking point on this island of nearly 10 million people, with no relief in sight as a U.S. energy embargo persists and longtime economic and financial troubles deepen, reports The Associated Press. Dr. Yomeidis Riverón said. “Before there was hope. Right now, what people have lost is exactly that.” Cuba's crises worsened after U.S. President Donald Trump announced in late January that he would impose tariffs on any country that sells or provides oil to the Caribbean country. Longtime U.S. sanctions also have taken their toll. According to Communist Cuban Foreign Affairs Minister Bruno Parilla, from March 2025 to the end of February, “the U.S. policy of economic strangulation” amounted to more than $8 billion, a record figure. Island-wide blackouts have increased this year, and daily outages now surpass 24 hours. As a result, water is often scarce, and small protests have erupted, despite the fear of being detained, as anger and frustration boil over. The situation has worsened to a point that the U.S. Embassy recently issued two public health alerts about “the degradation of the water and energy infrastructure. ... Recent cases have included E. coli, norovirus, Shigella, and other gastrointestinal pathogens.” U.S. missionary to Cuba gives first account of the despair and hope Colleen Thoreson, a U.S. missionary to Cuba who serves with her husband Steve, has seen both the despair and the hope in Cuba. She said, “In Camagüey, [a city of 300,000,] the Cubans there are eating cats now and killing their horses for meat.” She added, “Forty percent of the pregnancies in Cuba end in abortion. Our team spends a lot of time in the big maternity hospital. Every month we continue to make a dent in that overall number of abortions. The majority of the pregnant women get born again before giving birth.” Her team, comprised primarily of Cuban believers, led 4,000 people to Christ in the hospitals alone last month. Luke 15:10 says, “There is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” First moments of the 9/11 Muslim terrorist attacks Twenty-five years ago today, at 8:46 a.m. on September 11, 2001, Dick Oliver, a reporter for Good Day New York on WNYW-TV, uttered these shocking words on live television as he talked to the anchor, Jim Ryan. OLIVER: “Jim, just a few moments ago, something, believed to be a plane, crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center. I just saw flames inside. You can see the smoke coming out of the, of the tower. We have no idea of what it was. It was a tremendous boom just a few moments ago. You can hear around me emergency vehicles heading towards the scene. Now, this could have been an aircraft or it could have been something internal. It appears to be something coming from the outside due to the nature of the opening on about 100th floor of the South Tower of the World Trade Center.” Minutes later, Dick Oliver observed this. OLIVER: “Now, the smoke coming out of the opening appears to be black smoke. This would indicate things that are burning inside. We have no idea of what happened. But we did hear what sounded like, sounded like an aircraft, and then, a tremendous boom. Now, I don't know whether we can confirm that that was an aircraft or not.” And then, for the first time, Fox 5 anchor Jim Ryan cited the 1993 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. RYAN: “One's memory has to go back to another terrorist attack — we would hope it is not this time, but if it were a plane that crashed into the side of the building — you would imagine that there would be something on the ground that would be visible. So…” OLIVER:  “That's true, Jim. I cannot see the ground from here. You recall back in, I believe, it was 1945 when a U.S. Air Force plane crashed into the, about the 80th floor of the Empire State Building during a foggy night. The skies here, as you can see, are perfectly clear. So, I'm starting to lean to the idea that perhaps, whatever happened here, came from the inside of the World Trade Center.” RYAN: “Something has either crashed into the World Trade Center. (Pause) Ah. If it. (Pause) We're, we're, I'm just told that Metro traffic is reporting that it was indeed a plane crash. If that's the case, ‘Where's the plane?' I would ask. I don't see it in that live picture there. One's thoughts, obviously, go back to a terrorist attack on the World Trade Center that created havoc there back in the early 90s.” On September 11, 2001, 19 Muslim terrorists hijacked four airplanes, two of which they flew into the World Trade Center towers. A third plane hit the Pentagon, which headquarters the Department of War, and the fourth, United Airlines Flight 93, which was likely destined to take out the Capitol, was downed in Pennsylvania by brave Americans who fought back. According to an audio recording, Todd Beamer famously said, “Are you guys ready? Let's roll!” before he helped storm the cockpit where the Muslim terrorists had hijacked the plane. All told, 2,996 Americans perished along with all 19 Muslim al-Qaeda terrorists. Psalm 23:4 says, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Court ruling for GOP-favorable Missouri map will help retain House And finally, a federal judge issued a temporary restraining order on September 8th against Missouri officials from using 2022 congressional maps for the midterm elections instead of the new Republican-favorable map used during the 2026 primary, reports The Daily Wire. The judge said using the old map would disenfranchise primary voters who had already cast their ballots in the primary.  Eastern District of Missouri Chief Judge Stephen Clark, a Trump appointee,  wrote, “Disenfranchising voters across the state and denying them their constitutional right to have their primary votes counted significantly harm the public interest. Using a different map for the general election would wreak havoc on the fairness and orderliness of Missouri's congressional elections, calling into question the candidacy of those nominated in the primaries and the votes of those who voted in the primaries. Widespread voter confusion would inevitably follow.” The ruling comes after Republican Congressman Bob Onder and Republican congressional nominee Rick Brattin, and two Missouri primary voters argued that their votes would be invalidated if the old maps were reinstated for the November election. Judge Clark agreed with their argument. The ruling will help enable the Republicans to retain control of the U.S. House of Representatives. WE WENT TO LONDON!In this episode, Emily and I take you through our entire London vacation and everything we experienced along the way. THURSDAY We kicked things off with the Harry Potter Studio Tour, which was an incredible way to start the trip. FRIDAY We explored Buckingham Palace, watched the Changing of the Guard, visited the Royal Mews, checked out museums and spent the day taking in as much of London as we could. SATURDAY We headed to RevPro 14 Year Anniversary at the OVO Arena Wembley, but of course we had to experience some British food along the way too. We tried Greg's sausage rolls, a traditional English breakfast, fish and chips and plenty of other snacks. SUNDAY AEW All In at Wembley Stadium. We talk about the experience of getting to Wembley, being surrounded by thousands of wrestling fans and what it was like being there for such a massive event. MONDAY We explored Camden Town and the market before heading to PROGRESS Wrestling at the Electric Ballroom. We also visited Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and took in a few more of the sights before wrapping up the trip.We also talk about figuring out the London Tube, navigating the city, the people we met, the food we tried, the places we visited and all the little experiences that made this trip so memorable. This really was a trip of a lifetime and we're excited to finally share the whole experience with you. Thanks for coming along for the ride!
