The Fourth Clause (Echo Lane Book 2)The Fourth Clause is the much-anticipated sequel to No Easy Deeds — selected by Amazon as one of the top Kindle releases of 2024.1990 has not been a vintage year for Danny Monk — a cheating fiancée, redundancy, and then a harsh lesson in the downsides of home ownership. However, Danny's life took a turn for the better after he secured a job as an estate agent. It was during his first week of employment that he visited a house on Echo Lane and met its owner, Mrs Weller. The mysterious Mrs Weller then made a too-good-to-be-true proposal.Want to be a guest on Book 101 Review? Ever find yourself hunting down allocated bourbon unicorns while walking right past remarkable bottles hiding in plain sight? You're not alone. The B-Team's latest bourbon exploration uncovers the exceptional Penelope Bourbon Wheated Four Grain expression, sparking genuine excitement rarely seen from our resident whiskey expert. At just $45, this unassuming bottle delivers a perfectly balanced experience that rivals bottles costing five times as much. "If I was judging this in competition, I'd give this a solid gold medal on a blind test," our expert declares, genuinely surprised by the quality in his glass. This discovery leads us into a fascinating discussion about bourbon's four fundamental grains: corn, rye, wheat, and malted barley. We break down how the delicate balance between these components creates distinctive flavor profiles, and why Penelope's strategic emphasis on being a wheated bourbon positions it alongside sought-after brands like Weller and Maker's Mark. The craftsmanship here is undeniable – sweet corn notes blend harmoniously with aromatic wheat characteristics and just enough rye spice to create complexity without overwhelming the palate. The conversation inevitably turns to bourbon snobbery and how social media has trained enthusiasts to chase particular brands while overlooking exceptional options. Russ shares how his friend walked past Russell's Reserve "a hundred times" thinking it looked cheap, only to discover it was his favorite in a premium whiskey lineup. As allocated bottles become increasingly scarce, perhaps it's time we all expand our horizons and judge whiskey by what's in the glass rather than what's on the label. Next time you're browsing bourbon shelves, we challenge you to pick up something unfamiliar – that unassuming bottle might just blow away your expectations!

Send us a textThe bourbon glut is over, with distilleries reporting exceptional sales and Kentucky Bourbon Festival tickets selling out in just four days rather than months.• Pandemic caused a temporary slowdown as society reopened and people returned to busier lifestyles• Political uncertainty during election year contributed to consumer hesitation• Kentucky Bourbon Festival 2025 completely sold out in four days instead of taking until August• Secondary market for allocated bottles like Weller has changed as collectors have already acquired them• Bourbon enthusiasts now seeking unique barrel picks rather than just allocated bottles• Pot still whiskeys offer different flavor profiles than column still products• French Lick Spirit distillery's William Dalton (wheated) and Lillian Sinclair (rye) showcase craft bourbon diversity• American-made whiskeys may benefit from international tariffs as consumers look localListen to our barrel picks breakdown with tasting notes on kettle corn, cherry, butterscotch, and fresh-baked bread profiles. Join us for upcoming events including a smoke wagon tasting in Youngstown on May 21st.Is the bourbon bubble really bursting? Everything you've heard about the "bourbon glut" might be completely wrong. After months of industry predictions about oversupply and waning interest, we're seeing overwhelming evidence of bourbon's resilience and continuing popularity. The Kentucky Bourbon Festival provides perhaps the clearest indicator – what normally takes until August to sell out disappeared in just four days this year. All 7,500 tickets, gone. Heaven Hill's Bernie Lubbers recently confirmed their exceptional fiscal year, and distilleries across Kentucky are reporting similar success. What many analysts missed was that last year's perceived slowdown was merely a temporary pause as society adjusted post-pandemic and navigated election year uncertainties. We dive deep into the evolution of bourbon collectors' interests, noting how the secondary market has shifted away from simply chasing allocated bottles like Weller and EH Taylor. Today's enthusiasts are increasingly drawn to unique barrel picks, innovative finishes, and craft distillery releases that offer something different. We also explore how American whiskey stands to benefit from international tariffs, potentially driving more consumers toward domestic products. The highlight of our episode is an in-depth breakdown of our barrel picks from Spirit of French Lick – the William Dalton (wheated bourbon) and Lillian Sinclair (rye bourbon). Both pot still products offer fascinating tasting notes ranging from kettle corn and cherry to baking spices and fresh bread. These selections represent master distiller Alan Bishop's final barrel picks before his departure, making them particularly special.Ready to join the continuing bourbon conversation? Listen now, and don't forget our upcoming tasting event in Youngstown on May 21st featuring our smoke wagon barrel picks. The bourbon renaissance is just getting started! A decade ago, if a beer spent a few months in a single bourbon barrel, its release would cause fanfare amongst craft beer obsessives. These days, beers are blended from an increasing number of different barrels for extended periods of time, so we decided to sample beers that represent an increasing number of different barrels to see if more barrels actually means better results. To help us better understand the barrel side of the beer world, we talk to Ethan Schulenberg of Midwest Barrel Company, who provides a variety of barrels for a large number of American craft brewers. He explains the role of a “barrel broker” and how he helps brewers find the right vessel for aging, among many other topics. Also, Craig shouts out Revolution's clever event planning, we challenge our highest ABV beer record, and one of us is slowing turning into E.T. by the end. It was exactly midnight on May 29th, 1894 when he landed in the port Manistique, MI at the head of Lake Michigan. Before this trip, which started in Pennsylvania, he had never seen a ship, a large body of water, a sawmill, or even a big tree. He knew no one else in this small town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. William Scott Crowe, the oldest of six children was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on September 23rd, 1875. His parents Mary Amelia ("Millie") White and Oliver Cameron Crowe were married in 1874 in New Castle. Mile High Chiro Podcast

The very special guest on this episode of The Mile High Podcast is Eddie Weller, a DC from the St. Louis, Missouri, area. His practice is known as “Getting Weller”!   He's been serving the Chiropractic profession both internally by training students and doctors alike and by serving over 10,000 people in a little over two decades. He has always sought to add hope to those who feel as if they have tried everything. The truth is, the body doesn't need any assistance. It just needs to have nothing compromising its functioning. He heard that from a Chiropractor when he was 19 years old.   He had suffered from IBS and struggled terribly in school. After having his spine analyzed and adjusted, proper nerve system function transformed his life both physically and psychologically. This was the catalyst to his “why.”   Dr. Eddie says, “Over the past 20+ years, I have seen miracle after miracle. Life as we know it emanates through your nerve system. If something where to compromise your nerve system, in time, your body (or mind) grows into a health condition. In turn, when your nerve system is restored to proper function, your body then has the opportunity to do all that it can to thrive.”   He's the author of three books, It Just Makes Sense,  The Infrared Thermography Textbook, and Dr. Bones. His fourth book is coming out soon.   Dr. Eddie has been a speaker and presenter at Mile High Weekends in the past and is a frequent guest on this Podcast, diving deep into clinical excellence, the journey toward chiropractic, and how you can make such an impact by focusing on the philosophy and science, and art of chiropractic.   He recently launched The Chiro Legacy Club, to help you create a legacy and his 100 Certification on Thermography. To say that Eddy is busy making a difference is an understatement.     On this podcast, you'll hear about: The importance of using objective data and instrumentation to assess patient progress It Just Makes Sense about Infrared Thermography Focusing on your core competency Standing out by delivering exceptional chiropractic care And MUCH more!   Enjoy this episode, and when you see him in person at Mile High, say hello! Pappy 13:When first approached by Buffalo Trace, Julian III was honored, but not immediately interested. He had ample bourbon aging, but the concern was for future reserves, since by this time, bourbon was increasing in popularity. Buffalo Trace bought the W.L. Weller label in 1999 and had been making the bourbon with nearly the same recipe as Pappy's. The transition was easy. As of May 2002, Buffalo Trace has produced the Van Winkle bourbons, using Pappy's exact recipe. This change allows Old Rip Van Winkle to maintain their strict quality standards while producing more barrels for future enjoyment.Michter's 10: The 10 Year Rye expression reflects the exceptional results of uncompromising craftsmanship and Kentucky's unrivaled climate for aging outstanding whiskey. Often much older than the age statement on the label, only a select few barrels age with the elegance required for inclusion in these highly limited releases.

Jefferson's Ocean Wheated Bourbon World Single Barrel

I've never quite bought into the "ocean" aged concept that Jefferson's has touted for many years, mainly because I could never really tell the difference between ocean aged and regular, but I will say over time I have tasted a few gems, especially their single barrels. This is a wheated single barrel, ocean aged at 90 proof bottled for Bourbon World. The MGP wheated recipe has also been hit or miss over the years. I've tasted ones that I thought were maybe the best wheated bourbon I've ever had, including Weller, and I've tasted others that were lost, flabby, just so-so. Which brings us to this particular barrel. Over priced at the $90 SRP, so we've lowered it to $69.99, which I can say with a straight face is a HUGE DEAL! Pillow soft cinnamon spice with layers of caramel throughout. The fruit is subdued, the oak is subdued but the barrel sugars are amazing. Maybe you're like me and getting older and need a little something less than barrel strength sometimes. Don't sleep on 90 proof. Elmer T Lee, Eagle Rare, Weller Special Reserve, all 90 proof. Grab a bottle at any Bourbon World store. You won't regret it.

Akin to Weller in February 1980 ‘tatts entertainment' was bouncing around the studio today as the boys hit action stations to execute one of their great TV ideas. If commissioners are listening then elisandjohn@bbc.co.uk is the place to send your multimillion pound offer.Next on the list: Adrian and John travel round the UK feeling existential dread.Elsewhere away from such bona fide televisual hits John gives us another peek into his fervent mind via the vehicles of brown noise and the weaknesses of Hercule Poirot. If you do want to submit any ideas to catapult Elis and John onto the iPlayer screens then its the email above or 07974 293 022 on WhatsApp.

Mt. Iliamna is an active cone-shaped volcano located one hundred and forty miles (225 km) southwest of Anchorage and seventy miles (113 km) northwest of Homer. It is part of the Chigmit Mountains and rises from its base near Cook Inlet to 10,016 feet (3052.9 m), one of the highest peaks in the volcanically active area of the Alaska Peninsula. Ten glaciers radiate from the volcano's slopes. Iliamna last erupted in 1867, and observers have occasionally seen smoke wafting from the summit since then. However, it is the weather surrounding the mountain, not the volcanic activity, that makes Iliamna dangerous. Clouds frequently cloak the mountain's peak, and turbulent winds buffet this mountainous region, creating some of the most hazardous weather on the planet. Coastal fog and rain often create restricted visibility and a low ceiling. For aviators, flying in this area of the state can be challenging, dangerous, and sometimes deadly. Between 1958 and 1977, four mid-sized planes either crashed into Mt. Iliamna or were destroyed by the turbulence near the mountain, killing a total of seventy-nine people.
