Welcome to Gorilla Radio, recorded January 14th and 15th, 2023. My old friend and frequent interview victim, Mickey Z. proposed turning the tables and interviewing me for his excellent Substack podcast, Post-Woke. The entire interview is available at https://mickeyz.substack.com/ Mickey Z. talking to an Ape in the first half. And; it's been three years now since the great global unraveling wrought by the Covid-19 pandemic began. In Canada, part of that meant changes to the laws of the land - changes Canadians are yet to resolve properly in Parliament and the courts, or among a polity divided in unprecedented ways. Kim Goldberg is a Nanaimo-based poet, journalist, and author. She's written 8 books of poetry and nonfiction, including her most recent collection ‘DEVOLUTION: poems and fables of eco-pocalypse‘. She covered BC current affairs for Canadian Dimension Magazine for many years, most recently on the Fairy Creek blockade. Kim's writing is featured at Substack, and can be found again, after some rude interruption, on Twitter @KimPigSquash. Kim Goldberg and emerging the emergency in the second half. But first, me and Mickey Z. talking about alternative media and Gorilla Radio at twenty-four. RCMP Invasion of We'suwet'en Territory Breach of Rule of Law

Episode 33, is based on an article I wrote for Canadian Dimension Magazine back in April about Canada’s so-called “rule of law” invasions of our territories. Specially, we are talking about the RCMP invasion of Wet’suwet’en Nation territory back in January 2019. This is an especially important incident because it can and will happen again. The bitterly ironic thing about this incident is that the RCMP and federal government defended the action as though it was supported by Canada’s “rule of law”. But in fact, their acts are prime examples of breaches Canada’s ‘rule of law’. Here is the link to the article I referenced that was in Canadian Dimension Magazine: https://canadiandimension.com/articles/view/rcmp-invasion-of-wetsuweten-nation-territory-breaches-canadas-rule-of-law Here is a link to my book: Indigenous Nationhood: Empowering Grassroots Citizens, which is a collection of shorter blogs which cover some of the issues raised in this podcast: https://amzn.to/2PR7NTU Here is a link to a new textbook on "radical politics" where I have a chapter on Indigenous resistance politics: https://amzn.to/2LuacPe If you would like to help me keep my content independent, please consider supporting my work at Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/join/2144345 Note: The information contained in this podcast is not legal, financial or medical advice, nor should it be relied on as such. Episode 18 is about reconciliation with Indigenous peoples in universities, colleges and training institutes, specifically, what does NOT count as reconciliation. We have to move beyond land acknowledgments and celebrations and move into substantive changes - those that upend the status quo of dispossession and the university's role in the silencing of native voices. Here is a link to the blog upon which this podcast is based: https://indigenousnationhood.blogspot.com/2019/05/reconciliation-with-indigenous-peoples.html Check out Episode 10 of my podcast show for a discussion about reconciliation in a municipal context.
