“What's the first thing that made you laugh today?”That's how Sandy kicks off this episode, setting the tone for a morning packed with unexpected stories, quirky trends, and laugh-out-loud moments. Joined by his quick-witted wife Trisha, Sandy dives into the chaos of “Fake Fall” in Texas, where sweater weather in the morning turns into heat stroke by noon. This episode's centerpiece is a jaw-dropping gorilla story from Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo. Sandy and Trisha recount their up-close encounter with a territorial silverback who snatched a female's food bowl—only to make a dramatic statement by peeing in it! Their storytelling brings the scene to life, blending humor and empathy for the gorilla's “sad gorilla heart.” Trisha's background as a lifelong animal lover and zoo enthusiast adds depth and authenticity to the tale, making it a must-hear for anyone who loves wild animal antics. Other highlights include:The Pope's baseball loyalty: Hear how Pope Leo, a Chicago native, hilariously defends his beloved White Sox in Vatican City, roasting a Cubs fan with a quick-witted response.Pumpkin coffee trend: Discover the bizarre new craze at Starbucks—customers bringing hollowed-out mini pumpkins for their drinks—and why some baristas are not amused.Grubhub's snooze insurance: Sandy and Trisha debate whether college students should get a do-over meal if they fall asleep before their food arrives, and share their own stories about the high cost of food delivery.Diane Keaton's Hollywood connections: Learn the surprising link between Michael Keaton, Diane Keaton, and Woody Allen's classic film “Annie Hall,” including one of Sandy's favorite movie quotes.Notable Quotes:“Sweaters in the morning and heat stroke by noon. I get you, doesn't it?”“He was all very banging his chest, running into the room, grabbing the bowl. He did a little spin as he moved into the next room and then just full on peed in her bowl.”“Okay, we can walk to the curb from here.”Guest Insights:Trisha's love for animals and her knack for storytelling shine throughout the episode, making her the perfect co-host for tales of zoo drama and everyday absurdities. Scoot broadcasts LIVE from People's Health Medicare Center for Medicare Enrollment Day. This hour, Scoot talks about Denny the Gorilla smashing through a layer of 3-layered tempered glass.
Chaos in Torrance — a former student at Switzer Learning Center allegedly stabbed three staff members and tried to attack a fourth before being arrested. The suspect then claimed he'd planted two pipe bombs near the school, sending bomb squads to both the campus and his Redondo Beach home. The Switzer Center serves students with learning differences, according to its website, and police are continuing to investigate. From mayhem to money — Costco's clothing business is booming, with shoppers snatching up everything from jackets to jeans faster than you can say “Kirkland Signature Couture.” Then onto sports and state politics: the Dodgers face the Brewers, now just eight wins away from their next big milestone. Meanwhile, Governor Gavin Newsom signed SB 79, a sweeping housing bill allowing nine-story buildings near transit stops in eight California counties — despite opposition from Mayor Karen Bass and L.A. City Council. The bill's numerous exemptions and unclear zoning maps have cities scrambling to interpret the changes before they take effect in July 2026. And in San Diego, a moment of terror at the San Diego Zoo as a gorilla charged the glass, shattering part of the enclosure and sending guests running.
Gorilla named Denny, at the San Diego Zoo broke a layer of protective glass in its enclosure on Saturday. MTV is shutting down its last music channels. Most Americans finish their candy before Halloween, a new survey reveals. Greg Penner talked about the plans for the new Broncos stadium. It's been five years since Wendy Covey, CEO and Co-Founder of TREW Marketing, and Joe Sullivan, Founder of Gorilla 76, first joined Manufacturing Happy Hour, back when everyone was scrambling to figure out digital marketing during the pandemic. We sit down with them to explore which marketing fundamentals still deliver results and what new tactics manufacturers can't afford to ignore. The core truth hasn't changed: your best content still comes from extracting knowledge from industry experts. But where that content needs to live? That's completely different.PR is making a comeback, or as Wendy calls it, “the second coming of PR” while Joe shares how manufacturers can build knowledge bases from existing content to feed AI tools the right way. Both agree that becoming the best resource for your audience beats trying to game the system every time. And with showing up in ChatGPT becoming both more important and more challenging, manufacturers need to think beyond their own websites to build credibility across digital platforms. In this episode, find out:Why the best content still comes from extracting knowledge from industry expertsWhich timeless marketing strategies still deliver resultsThe surprising resurgence of PR and why engineers are starting to trust it more than everHow showing up in ChatGPT is getting harder, and what actually worksThe patience problem among industrial marketers and why ROI questions after 3 months miss the pointHow manufacturers are successfully using community-driven marketingWhat to look forward to at the Industrial Marketing Summit 2026 and why attendees keep coming backEnjoying the show? Please leave us a review here. Even one sentence helps. It's feedback from Manufacturing All-Stars like you that keeps us going!Tweetable Quotes:“With generative search, they're placing more value in third-party placements. So it's still the idea of being a topical authority, but you can't just do it on your website. You need to be a topical authority in industry publications, Reddit, YouTube, and all these other sources.” - Wendy Covey“Whether it's Google or ChatGPT, they're trying to display the best information and the most helpful possible information. It's just getting packaged up differently. And how do you make sure you're part of what shows up? You build credibility for yourself.” - Joe Sullivan“A lot of digital strategies have evolved but are still tried and true. So that's educating your audience, and publishing content on a regular cadence. Knowing your audience and building a strong value proposition that speaks to their pain points.” - Wendy CoveyLinks & mentions:Industrial Marketing Summit 2026, an annual three-day gathering where manufacturing and industrial marketers connect to share practical insights, learn emerging strategies, and build community with peers facing similar challengesTREW Marketing, partners with B2B technical companies to establish strong marketing foundations, create engaging content strategies, and accelerate growth through research-backed campaigns tailored for engineering audiencesGorilla 76, an industrial marketing agency that helps B2B companies in the manufacturing ecosystem grow through outcome-focused marketing programs built specifically for industrial markets Make sure to visit

These experiences strengthened my leadership, cross-cultural communication, and strategic planning skills.Since 2020, I have worked with the Norwegian Mission Society, first as an advisor for leadership development and now as Global Study Coordinator for NMS Global Exchange. I continue in this role alongside running Alakara.Across all these experiences runs a common thread: a commitment to people, purpose, and partnership. The Ghost Furnace - EP 132 "Invisible Gorillas & Weird Bugs" This week we take a look at a book we've referenced on more than one occasion, The Invisible Gorilla. Below is a link to the video we reference for the initial experiment. By focusing on the illusions of attention and memory, we look at how those in particular can impact not only our everyday lives but the study of the paranormal. We use an example of a memory which we have two separate perspectives to illustrate the use of this concept. Plus, Nic plays a good joke on Bond. Most manufacturers don't know how to quantify marketing success, so they default to asking "What's the ROI?” after three or six months. But when you're selling CapEx equipment through a longer, complex and consultative sales cycle, answering the ROI question can get messy. In this show, we welcome Gorilla 76 co-founder Joe Sullivan to the stage to examine both the leading signals and trailing metrics to know if your marketing program is positioning you for business growth and how to talk to your executive team about its progress.

Peter Singer has been called the most influential living philosopher. At 79, he’s still active, sharp, and shaping global conversations on ethics. Singer is an atheist and a secular utilitarian. While we disagree on many fundamentals, we sat down to explore possible common ground on poverty, ethics, and how we treat animals while also clarifying our differences. This isn’t a debate on God’s existence, but an open dialogue between two worldviews. Enjoy, and let us know what you think! Today, an attempt to root out the sources of yesterday's ugly bout of risk off, with sovereign debt markets quite possibly driving much of the unease as several countries saw new cycle highs in 30-year yields. We also break down the reaction, if inconsistent, across currencies to new stresses in bond markets as we await key US labor market data while the market doesn't know what data to trust. This and more on today's pod, which is hosted by Saxo Global Head of Macro Strategy John J. Hardy. Links discussed on the podcast and our Chart of the Day can be found on the John J. In this episode of The Confessionals, I sit down with Michelle to dive into a whirlwind of supernatural and conspiratorial experiences that range from haunted houses to government programs. Michelle shares chilling nights at Spring Villa where ghostly voices, strange energies, and even a doppelganger encounter blurred the lines between paranormal and cryptid activity. Things take a wild turn when she opens up about her time in the controversial GATE program—learning Egyptian hieroglyphs, swishing down a strange pink drink, and even creating aliens on 1980s computers. From recurring gorilla dreams and monkey apparitions to military hybrid rumors, Lilith's shadow over Appalachia, and her own battle with remote viewing, this conversation pulls together threads of the unexplained, the spiritual, and the conspiratorial into one chilling narrative.
