Tosh and Kimley are joined by author Loren Glass to discuss his new book CAROLE KING'S TAPESTRY (33 1/3). Carole King is one of the most successful songwriters of the 20th century. From her early Brill Building days writing hits with her first husband Gerry Goffin to this iconic solo album that broke sales and chart records as well as glass ceilings. Glass makes the case that TAPESTRY was not only the soundtrack to but also part of the engine for the women’s movement. Whether or not you’re a fan of TAPESTRY, you inevitably love many of her other hits as sung by the likes of Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield, The Beatles and many of the early girl groups. Her back catalogue is still being mined regularly by more recent artists solidifying her legacy for many years to come. Theme music: "Behind Our Efforts, Let There Be Found Our Efforts" by LG17

Deborah and Joel sit down with the great Jamie Denbo and hear about her love for Carole King’s Tapestry. Man what an album! Deborah and Jamie bond over how it all really started with Really Rosie. We learn that Jamie inadvertently (well, advertently) bullied Deborah into having a baby and why Carole King’s voice makes us all feel good and safe. We discover the pressure to like something in college, even Ska! There was a STARK difference between Deborah and Jamie’s (Jewish) summer camp and Joel’s (Christian) summer camp. One had scorpions! Bet you can’t guess the true prequel to The Handmaids Tale! Tune in to find that out as well as how “Jewish” Jamie Denbo’s happy place is. The Album: Carole King Tapestry (1971) LA singer songwriter Gavin Turek's relationship with Carole King's Tapestry album began in her childhood, listening to her father play virtually every song featured on the piano. He taught her the notes, the chords, the vocals until the earth moved under her feet and made her a die hard fan. She joined Heat Rocks to discuss what made this album fire, the west coast leanings of Tapestry, Carole's lyrical approach to the realness of relationships and why having a cat featured on your cover art is lit and progressive. There are so many heaters on this album, she had four favorites. Listen in and you'll understand why.
