It had been a while since Marc and Jordan had covered shorts featuring Mac & Tosh, the Goofy Gophers, and it's mostly because their overly-nice schtick can get old after a while. But there were still a handful for us to cover, including the classic 'A Ham in a Role', featuring an opening minute that animation historians love to showcase [without really going into detail about the rest of it], and a pretty strong outing in 'A Bone for a Bone'. They also had to watch a 1965 short called 'Tease for Two'. It doesn't go as well, but it does lead to funnier bits.

Peter Tosh was a reggae subversive who used his music as a means to fight corruption, oppression, and hypocrisy. Unlike his one-time bandmate Bob Marley, Tosh didn't fight for peace. He fought for truth–and justice. He did this with a guitar shaped like an M-16 automatic rifle. He lobbied for the legalization of marijuana, using the profits of the drug trade to get his message onto the most iconic album of his career. All of this put Peter Tosh in the crosshairs of authority, the government, and those who wished to silence him – some who even wanted to see him dead. It's the voice in your head screaming at you to put the barbell down. To give up on that small-business idea and go back to something easier. To get back to comfort at all costs. Tosh calls it the “mind's mind.” “I have a mind, and the mind has a mind of its own,” he says. “And anytime we're faced with challenge; stress; we're under duress … this mind's mind kicks in, and it starts to inform the mind on what to do. And a lot of times that comes at odds with what I want to do.”Brian “Tosh” Chontosh is a retired Marine Corps officer and Nacy Cross recipient, the founder of Big Fish Foundation and Crooked Butterfly Ranch, a longtime CrossFit Seminar Staff member, and an ultra-endurance athlete (most recently, he rowed across the Atlantic Ocean as part of a four-man team in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge). You might think with a resume like that he's got the mind's mind conquered. That's not the case. In fact, only by acknowledging the mind's mind — observing it, challenging it, and learning from it — will you begin to scratch the surface of your potential. “I deal with it every day,” he says. “And I just keep fighting it. And I have good days, I have bad days … and my mind's mind is growing, getting stronger, and then it shows up … and then I've learned from it because I'm aware of it.” It's not inherently bad — the mind's mind, Tosh explains, is the reason we're all still here today. Its role is to keep us alive, to guide us toward survival, safety, and comfort. The challenge is that safe, comfortable choices are at odds with most goals worth pursuing. “It's gotten so used to not having to be sharp that it sits in the safety loop, or the comfort loop,” Tosh says. “And unless we exercise challenging the mind's mind's ability to win in an argument, it doesn't need to grow much.”CHAPTERS: 0:00 Intro4:41 On being “alpha” 11:26 Understanding the mind's mind18:36 Challenging the mind's mind32:21 Becoming aware 38:52 The battlefield, the ballfield, the boardroom, and the breakfast table55:21 The mind's mind — beyond the physical--Big Fish Foundation: https://www.bigfishfoundation.org/Crooked Butterfly Ranch and Diesel Days: https://www.crookedbutterfly.com/diesel-days---Infinitely Scalable Podcast: Helping entrepreneurs, creatives, and humans everywhere find freedom.

In "Babylon's Cross-Hairs", Host Henry K takes a close look the history of reggae music and its intertwined relationship with Jamaica's sociopolitical landscape, focusing on the iconic One Love Peace Concert. Henry K recounts his experiences at Tuff Gong Records, where the essence of reggae was not merely a genre but a movement that encapsulated the struggles and aspirations of a nation. This episode takes a look at historical significance of the One Love Peace Concert held in April 1978, a pivotal moment that exemplified the unification of a fractured Jamaica during a time of political turmoil. We explore the contrasting artistic and ideological expressions of Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, two luminaries of reggae music, whose relationship was marked by both collaboration and rivalry. The concert not only showcased Marley's vision of unity but also highlighted Tosh's unyielding commitment to speaking truth to power, as evidenced by his pointed criticisms of the political establishment during the performance...A show that would have severe repercussions for Tosh. In around 108AD, the Legio IX Hispania, or the Ninth Legion, a unit of just over 5,000 men, was last recorded at York in Britannia, and possibly heading north towards Caledonia, modern day Scotland. What happened next no one knows for sure, and the Ninth disappeared from historical record. The loss would have been a stunning humiliation for the Rome, but what would be the response of Hadrian, the emperor who took power a few years later in 117AD? Within a few years a new wall dividing Britannia from the wild Novantae and Selgovae tribes would be constructed, a wall that still stands today and is named after the emperor under which it was built. It's a B1G week here at Y-Option both with our guests and on the news front. Thanks to our founding partner 76, today's guest is the founder of Breneman Media and host of the “Next Up” podcast, Adam Breneman. More on Adam in a moment, but first the big news…Last Friday, the Ducks made a statement - not just to the Big Ten, but to all of college football. Dan Lanning, along with coordinators Tosh Lupoi and Will Stein, signed well-deserved contract extensions, ensuring Oregon remains a powerhouse under their leadership. It got me thinking about the first time I met Dan. It was at Camp Tontozona, and he was a young graduate assistant with big dreams. We stood on the field before practice, talking about the team, his path, and mine. From that moment, I knew he was going places.Since arriving in Eugene, Dan has stood out—not just for his coaching acumen, but for his perspective on life. Family first, profession second. He's a devoted husband and father who believes that elite programs can still find balance. Now, entering his fourth season as head coach, he's not only built one of the nation's premier programs but also led Oregon to an undefeated regular season and a Big Ten title last year.College football is full of impressive leaders, but it's always special to see the “good guys" get rewarded. Huge congratulations to Dan, Tosh, Will, and their families - each one of them deserving of these contracts and the continued success in Eugene. More of my thoughts on Lanning & the Ducks in today's podcast.TODAY'S GUEST: ADAM BRENEMANSpeaking of success, today's guest, Adam Breneman, knows a thing or two about it. He calls himself a sports entrepreneur, media personality, and creator. I call him a friend - one with an infectious optimism about life, content, and the power of sports. We've known each other for a decade and share the experience of transitioning from coaching to media. In this conversation, he shares insights into his business, advice for content creators, his approach to interviewing big-time head coaches, and why he believes the Big Ten is the nation's top football conference. He also opens up about one of the darkest times in his life - leaving Arizona State in the public eye - and how he navigated that journey. This episode will leave you inspired to create, to push forward, and to see challenges as opportunities. As always, our conversations are powered by our founding partner, 76, keeping you in the know on the Go, Go, Go.For more insights into college football, subscribe to our newsletter at Y-Option.com.Much love and stay steady,YogiThis episode is executive produced by Jim Thornby & edited by Victor RenThis podcast is a Best Coast Media productionY-Option: College Football with Yogi Roth is a reader-supported publication. On "The Getaway Driver" Host Henry K updates the narrative surrounding the individual known as Dennis Lobban, infamously referred to as Leppo, as he explores the hauntingly intricate web of conflicting stories that have emerged since his purported death in 2018. Within the broader context of Jamaica's tumultuous history, Henry K then focuses on the legacy of the late Sybil Hibbert, a pioneering journalist who chronicled the country's underworld with a deftness that transcended mere reporting. Her work not only captured the pulse of Jamaica during its formative years but also intertwined personal narratives with larger societal issues, thereby enriching the discourse surrounding crime and justice. Henry K reflects on how Hibbert's unique perspective as both a journalist and the spouse of Isadore Dick Hibbert, the lead investigator in the notorious murder of Peter Tosh, imbued her reporting with an unparalleled depth. Finally, examination of Steve Russell, the alleged getaway driver, adds another layer of complexity to the investigation, as Henry K argues that the true story behind Tosh's murder has been obscured by a labyrinth of deceit, misinformation, and sensationalism, leaving a legacy fraught with questions that remain unanswered. On Episode 2 of "Wanted: Dread or Alive" The narrative surrounding the murder of reggae icon Peter Tosh is revealed, focusing on the Supreme Court's ruling regarding the appeal of Dennis "Leppo" Lobban, the only individual convicted in this notorious crime. This case is emblematic of the broader societal issues in Jamaica, where power dynamics intertwine with music, politics, and street justice, revealing a landscape where the official accounts often mask deeper truths. Host Henry K highlights Lobban's perplexing defense during his trial, which raised questions about his motives and mental state, suggesting a deliberate misdirection rather than a genuine attempt to establish innocence. Further, the episode probes into the eerie circumstances of the night Tosh was killed, drawing attention to the inconsistencies in witness testimonies and the chilling implications of a robbery that may have been a façade for a targeted assassination.
