Part 2 of Professor Nutt, comedian Chris Coltrane, and Elle Wadsworth from What's the Crack podcast... we're picking up where we left off to discuss if we're fearful and cynical over 'experts' in policy making. In this part we'll be taking audience questions. This is a pretty open and no holds barred conversation around science, politics, and of course how this all relates to drug policy. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Professor David Nutt, comedian Chris Coltrane, and What's the Crack podcast co-host Elle Wadsworth - what a panel! We discuss: 'The Fear of Experts'.Are we sceptical of scientists and experts? Do we listen to evidence or are we more likely to believe in our own prejudices? We cover a lot of ground in this episode as we try to get to the bottom of why there's so much stigma around drug policy reform still despite its overwhelming evidence. This is one of two parts as it's such a bumper episode! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Given that two of the biggest topics this week are the global threat of a fatal disease with no cure and a string of stories of sexual violence, it's surprising this is not the most gag-dense edition we've ever done. A compelling and informative discussion of Ebola, courtesy of Medecin sans Frontieres Ivan Gayton; Sameena Zehra offers some interesting activist strategies for a pacifist...; Barry Castagnola offers a profound philosophical rumination on situations where contracting Ebola virus might be attractive; and Chris Coltrane displays a surprising awareness of IKEA. Jonny Awsum supplies a calypso, and everything is held together expertly and elegantly by guest host Kevin Day. With fantastic monologues from Alistair Barrie and Nick Revell, who coincidentally also write these billing notes.
The Lost Treasures Of The Black Heart is a sort of comedy club in Camden town each month, where comedians, writers and musicians write special sets venerating an unsung hero or celebrating an obscure thing. It's very rough and silly. It's compered by Josie Long, who tries out new ideas and improvises things. We hope you like it, we wanted to make it as close to the bizarre, ramshackle nature of the night as possible. It's March 2012, and Josie spends a lot of time chatting about cake and about her phone, this one has a very slow start indeed, but let's roll with it! Sorry if I sound stressed out! There's loads of great people, though - this month we have appearances from Sara Pascoe (@sarapascoe), Alex Edelman (@alex_edelman), Siobhan Dodds (@unclesiobhan), Chris Coltrane (@chris_coltrane), Thom Tuck (@turlygod) and club regular Nathaniel Metcalfe (@natmetcalfe). I'm sorry because I can't really remember what they were, I think that there was a ghost that lit up in a kind of green neon light. People went WOO at it. I hope this is ok! It's nearly 18 months old! This is very long, and there's a seance in it which isn't very good, so we cut some of it.
