Thom Tuck is exactly the kind of alternative comedian that epitomises the wonderful acts that Quantum Leopard gets in. By turns erudite, energetic and overtly bendy, Thom is always a pleasure to have on stage, especially as an unexpected opener for this night. Along with a wonderful set, Thom also talks with host & MC James Ross about improvisation as a lead-in to stand-up, pole dancing and the importance of a distinctive silhouette. CWs: Mentions of genitals and genital injury To find out more about Thom, he suggests you type "turlygod" into Google. The results are HERE, please ignore the references to Shakespeare's King Lear. Into The Neuroverse with Colin Hoult

Comedian and Actor Colin Hoult, has taken another step into the Neuroverse as he explores his neurodiversity, and maybe yours! Describing and understanding his ADHD and possible autism - he navigates this new landscape and hopefully brings you along for the ride. This week he searches for treasure hidden in the constant stress of dealing with neurotypical squares and their neurotypical square world. Topics discussed: not getting on 8 out of 10 cats, Rejection sensitivity disorder (see previous), Thom Tuck, St Germaine, Going Scottish, piling on loads of plates, finding your treasure map, other very messy metaphors, bit about being on Derek, moans about not working enough, the thrill of live performance, pissing in the garden and ends with a vaguely recognised poem from one Richard Selig - did he ever exist - can anyone find him? Welcome to the Stupid Hearts Club! The Club for everyone with a Stupid Heart-------------------I am still LOVING delivering your weekly podcast. Well, it gives the poor old sod, something to do between Spitting Image zoom calls don't it. I appreciate every single pledge more than you could ever know, especially as telly is still so unpredictable. One thing that hath cheered me up is I have got my first sniffs of paid acoustic background music gigs in the surrounding villages near me. And actually I have decided to try some busking to earn some gigging stripes. Hey ho.Anyway, absolutely belting chat for you all this week with fringe comedy legend Thom Tuck. The lad is truly aaf his nut and super-bright. I love talking to him and being pulled all over the philosophy map with clear and sensible thinking that always blindsides me as a result of coming from someone so dedicated to utter silliness. In this weeks episode we talk about Thom's unconventional upbringing, his early comedy influences, his love of Leeds United Manager Mark Bielsa (apparently an actual God) and our best ever day out together watching Neil Young and Bob Dylan at Hyde Park two shitty covid-infused years ago. Are the good times coming back? I feel they might be. So you see I'm not THAT miserable.-------------------If you like what I do and you want to support me financially, as well as get access to some cool extras, please take a look at my Patreon! Comic actor Thom Tuck discovered Bob Dylan when, growing up in Bangladesh, he caught the promo for Subterranean Homesick Blues on MTV Rewind. His family eventually returned to Leeds, where his outsider status was made even worse/better by his obsession with all things Bob. At university, he didn't improve his lot by writing a play called “One More Layer of Skin”. Despite it all, Thom maintains that Dylan remains his “prism by which to understand the world”.Opinions: Thom reserves a special place in hell for songs like Make You Feel My Love (“Adele heard the Billy Joel version and now every idiot does it”), whilst continuing to rate Under The Red Sky (“as an album to go to sleep to”). Along the way, we swap dozens of the best Dylan cover versions, from bluegrass to hard rock to the “deep thunder” of Tom Jones.Thom Tuck is an actor, writer and comedian. He is currently on tour in the acclaimed Birmingham Rep production of The Play What I Wrote. His theatre work includes Death Of A Salesman (Royal & Derngate), Three Sisters (Southwark Playhouse), Brexit (Spontaneity Shop), A Slight Ache (Pleasance) and Gutted!: A Revenger's Musical (Assembly Theatre). Every week comedian Yael Gavish talks with a comedian that has at some point been asked “Where Are You REALLY From?” Whether it's due to an accent, skin color, the outfit they are wearing or various other factors. Each conversation explores personal stories about travels, family life, cultural experiences and funny stories that have happened along the way. This week, still in #London I've met Thom Tuck. Thom lived in most places than most: England, Sri Lanka, Denmark, Egypt, Malawi, Zimbabwe, The Philippines and Bangladesh. We talked about accent, comedy in England, the #Fringe and #racism ! The Lost Treasures Of The Black Heart is a sort of comedy club in Camden town each month, where comedians, writers and musicians write special sets venerating an unsung hero or celebrating an obscure thing. It's very rough and silly. It's compered by Josie Long, who tries out new ideas and improvises things. We hope you like it, we wanted to make it as close to the bizarre, ramshackle nature of the night as possible. Hop in our podcast time machine and take a trip back with us to July 2012, when the weather was warm, the bar downstairs was noisy, and the acts were ace. Josie feels like she might have been a bit stressed this month, as she was working towards her Edinburgh festival show, but it was probably just that it was really hot that night. While we're at it - apologies for the seemingly interminable delay on these podcasts, we are attempting to clear out the backlog and get more out with renewed vigour, so listen out for more time capsules from Camden's oddest club in the near future... Joining Josie are club resident Nathaniel Metcalfe (@natmetcalfe) who - rather presciently - is talking about Pride And Prejudice (And Zombies), Joe Lycett's pal Jack Daniels (http://joelycettcomedy.tumblr.com/post/48701551150/old-tales-live) Keiran Hodgson (@KieranCHodgson), Hatty Ashdown (@HattyAshdown), Alex Holland (@ImAlexHolland), Bec Hill (@bechillcomedian) and Thom Tuck (@turlygod). Hello & welcome to episode 12 of the Create More Podcast with me, Ben Stuart, and as my birthday treat (5th Jan) I head over to Artspace Studio in Brixton to talk to the director / producers of Wooden Overcoats, Andy Goddard John Wakefield. I got to talk to both the director /producers and discuss all about the highly recommended podcast, the making of it and their roles in the project, how it started and how they both began in audio production. Wooden Overcoats is a brilliant comedy sitcom and one of The Daily Telegraph's top storytelling podcasts listed alongside the likes of Serial, The Moth, and Welcome to Night Vale. Written by five of the UK's best new comic writers, the series boasts an original orchestral score and features some of the biggest established and rising names in British comedy including Belinda Lang, Andy Secombe, Ciara Baxendale, Andy Hamilton, Julia Deakin, Thom Tuck, Max Olesker, Catriona Knox and Paul Putner. A wilfully preposterous boozehound in a pashmina, Thom Tuck is a superbly theatrical stand-up, one third of fringe-conquering sketch outfit The Penny Dreadfuls, and co-ringmaster of The Alternative Comedy Memorial Society. We delve into the challenges of developing a festival-friendly solo act for the live circuit, and discuss whether his commitment to character is ever a cage.
