On Sunday, March 16th, Pastor Cal Revell delivered an inspiring message, "Humble Heart," based on Psalm 51. He explored why David was a man after God's own heart, highlighting six key qualities of a humble heart: honesty, seriousness about sin, vulnerability, teachability, trust in God's goodness, and a longing for wholeness. We pray that this message blesses you, encourages you and ultimately draws you closer to our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Nancy, whose real name is Amanda (she writes under a pseudonym) claims she was a little annoying at school. But it was this curiosity and spirit that took her into the world of tabloid journalism where she worked on huge investigations for papers like the News of the World. But then life took Amanda along a path she didn't expect. Her husband was diagnosed with a head and neck cancer and at the same time she found herself on her own IVF journey.Amanda used writing to help her (and others) navigate this hugely difficult time - using her humour and thoughts in a column about her experience. She had no idea this was going to take her to the world of fiction and writing saga novels. Her Shipyard Girls books have sold more than half a million copies and have reached No. 2 on the Sunday Times Bestsellers list.In this conversation we discuss:What it was really like working for tabloids like The News of the WorldWhat happened when Amanda and her husband had to face a cancer diagnosis and IVF at the same timeWhy we can never be sure where life will take us, but why Amanda believes it's essential we all know what we really love.Amanda is open, brave and funny in this conversation, I felt like I'd known her for years. I hope you'll love meeting her as much as I did. Wheels are now on and just a few more things to do. Airbrushes are on the way back from Badger. Looking forward to getting them back.Got a Tamiya 1/48 Sherman Firefly for the 48 hour build in March. Nice looking kit.Geoff - finished off the IBG 1/72 IAR80 and wrote the article on it for IPMS Canada, although you may never see it. Bottom line: very nice kit. Continued on the old Revell 1/72 Arado what if Amerika bomber. I couldn't find my lead weights, so I decided to do it in flight, perhaps dropping bombs over the NYC skyline, although in light of recent international events, I may have to find a red state with a recognizable skyline as a base! I wonder if anyone makes a 3D file of Mar a Lago?Terry: Work continues apace on the Moosaroo. The shadowbox is coming along nicely. I hope to be done shortly. The Phalanx is looking good, not much more on this either but I've said that for a month now. I do need to get a new windscreen for the Wingsy Claude, it broke in half in the bag. It is quite thin plastic.***************************************WHAT WE ARE READINGStuart - I've been in a reading kick lately instead of spending as much time on social media. Finished Titan and Moonseed by Stephen Baxter, now moving on to a collection of short stories by him called Traces.Geoff - I've been ploughing through a complete collection of Scale Airplane Modeller magazine and been fascinated by the fact that model debates never seem to change! Prices are too high, people who just collect kits, thus raising market prices for builders, are evil, who needs fancy new paints, IPMS judging sucks, etc. The UK magazine was quite parochial, and although there was a ton of good information on UK aircraft, they do get a tad stuck on themselves - back in 1988 at least.Terry: Apparently I've fallen behind Stuart! I'm halfway through Stephen Baxter's Titan. Also reading the first series of Bleach Manga. It tracks very close to the anime.***************************************SPONSOR AD #2Seans Custom Model Tools***************************************TopicHello Gentlemen!I have a show discussion topic for you all to ponder: SCALE WARS!The premise is as simple as it is fictional. Imagine I have hired each of you as a consultant to my brand new (again, fictional) scale model manufacturing company. I want to shake up the injection-molded kit industry and I'm relying on your knowledge and expertise. I am not interested in which kit you want made that either doesn't exist yet or is in need of a new tooling. Instead, I want to know your opinions on scale.I am tasking you each individually with two assignments in this discussion. Time and money are not considerations here (the most fictional part of all). You MUST eliminate a standard/popular modeling scale from a genre of your choosing and justify your choice (for the snarky-minded amongst you, “box scale” does not count). Or “They shouldn't have picked that scale.”You SHALL replace the eliminated scale by adding a new scale for any modeling genre of your choice that you believe is not represented well in the industry — or even at all — and you must tell me why I should invest in your idea. Or “Why they should have picked this scale instead.”Remember, in this scenario you are a pool of consultants competing with each other to have your pitch chosen — so bring your A game to your arguments!I know modelers can have strong opinions about their preferred scale(s) so I hope this is taken in the spirit of fun but if a friendship or two gets dented - well, we can't let that stand in the way of progress.Good luck and may the best arguments win!Rick BakerScale Model Outlier Terry's Suggestion:I say we go to a Roman Numeral system, essentially a decimal system.I is 1:1.V is 1:5X is 1:10L is 1:50C is 1:100D is 1:500M is 1:1000 I suppose you could get larger if you need, for things like starships.***************************************THINGS WE'VE SEEN3D Wild building a 1/200 C5 GalaxyVince Hoffman restoring another RC Tank. “Living into Everyday Glory” (Magi) Matthew 2:1-12, Psalm 19:1, 1 Corinthians 10:31, 2 Corinthians 3:18 The star the Magi saw was a reflection of Jesus' birth, of the glory of God touching the earth. The Magi could have stayed home; instead, they went seeking after God's Glory, and they weren't disappointed. Will we seek after God's glory too? ___________________________________Christmas GloryThis Advent and Christmas season, we'll focus on the profound theme of God's glory. It can be challenging to define God's glory since it manifests in numerous ways throughout the Bible. It embodies the greatness and perfection of His character and attributes. [1] Additionally, God's glory reveals His special presence in the world, evident in both creation and His redemptive acts. [2] We can also glorify God through our worship and praise. However, it was on that first Christmas that the ultimate expression of God's glory entered our world with the birth of Jesus. [3] Yet, Jesus came, not only to display God's glory but to invite us to embody and reflect it in our own lives. This may surprise us; we might think God's glory is reserved for exceptionally spiritual people, for extraordinary acts, or even for the realm of fantasy and escape, but we can experience and reflect God's glory right here and now by following Jesus and living out God's call in our everyday lives. What are the human stories behind mathematics? How did mathematicians collaborate over centuries to further its cause? “The Secret Lives of Numbers: A Global History of Mathematics & its Unsung Trailblazers” co-authored by Kate Kitagawa and Timothy Revell tells us just that. Kate and Tim dig into rabbit holes from across eras to unearth fascinating stories of geniuses from ancient civilisations who questioned the status quo. How far does modern mathematics date back to? What is the story behind calculus? How did zero change the game and why did it take a while for folks to warm up to the concept? How did women take on the establishment to make their way into history books? In this podcast the authors bring us many such anecdotes and speak passionately about a subject that is close to their heart.
Send us a textEpisode 22 “Is It Real or Just Your Imagination"This episode, Riv opens up to us about his feelings on the recent happenings with a fellow modeler, and what should be considered proper etiquette when your building is directly inspired by another modeler. We add in a new segment, in which we talk about what we have on our benches; and no surprise here, we are all busy with multiple projects! Then we get into a discussion about modeling with realism versus artistic expression, and ho, in the hobby, there is a huge area of (Panzer) grey, where that overlaps, because some aspects of the historical fact does not play well visually and can sometimes cause displeasure to the eye of the beholder. Adams and Bad Santa get a little off track and discuss a bit about how shop owners are on the front line for new modelers, and really should be more attuned to what is going on in the hobby New Kits In The News As it has been a while, we have a plethora of new stuff coming our way! When you buy things through this site, we may earn an affiliate commission.Become a patron and enjoy special perks and bonus content. We welcome debut novelist Nicole Miller to the show this week, talking about her book Until Our Time Comes. She tells us about how she found out the book would be published, where her love for Arabian horses comes from, and why she loves stories so much. Patrons will hear about her brood of animals on her hobby farm. Until Our Time Comes by Nicole MillerAmerican horse trainer Adia Kensington is living her dream of working at the famous Janów Podlaski stables in Poland, where they breed the best Arabian horses in the world. But her plans to bring the priceless stallion Lubor to the US are derailed when the German army storms into her adopted country in 1939. Little does she know this is just the beginning of six long years of occupation that will threaten her beloved horses at every turn. Bret Conway is at Janów Podlaski under the guise of a news reporter, but his true mission is intelligence gathering for the British. That and keeping Adia safe, which is harder and harder to do as she insists they must evacuate 250 horses to save them from being stolen, sold, or eaten by the invading forces. What follows will test their physical, mental, and emotional strength, as well as their faith in God, humankind, and each other. Drawn from true events of World War II, this epic story of escape, capture, resistance, and love from debut novelist Nicole M. Miller will thunder into your heart like a herd of beautiful horses across a raging river.Get your copy of Until Our Time Comes by Nicole Miller.More about Nicole Miller:I live in Southwest Washington state with my husband and two sons, along with my two purebred Arabian horses, chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, and guinea pigs. One of the constant gifts of doing this show is the reminder of how privileged those of us who get to grow old are. It's easy to forget this in a world saturated with messages glorifying youth, but youth isn't always that great (sure, I still have crippling social anxiety, but I'm MUCH better at masking it now!). So, getting the chance to talk to people who say, "I'm so glad I'm not the person I was at 20, 30, 40," is refreshing. They still love the person they were, but they aren't in a hurry to go back to that time. This week, I had the pleasure of speaking with the artist and photographer Holly Revell. Holly spent much of their 20s and 30s as a self-described "f*g hag", always ready to party surrounded by a gaggle of gays. But, now, looking back, they appreciate that part of their life but recognise they've outgrown the person they were. We initially came together to talk about London's Black Cap, but our conversation went in many different directions. You know it just goes that way sometimes, right? A new international study has recently been published showing the potential harmful impacts of old satellites on the ozone layer. The study concluded that the increase of old satellites orbiting the earth might seriously harm the recovery of the ozone layer. This morning Rawan spoke with Dr Laura Revell from the school of physics and chemical science at the University of Canterbury about this new research. They discuss what the state of the ozone currently is and how exactly these old satellites will impact its recovery. They then talk about what we can expect in the short and long term and what precautions need to be taken to address these issues.
In 1984, DC Comics published a Robotech miniseries as a tie-in with the Revell model company. But Rick Hunter, Lisa Hayes, Lynn Minmei, the SDF-1 or anything else we know and love from Robotech was nowhere to be seen. Titled Robotech Defenders, it was a three-part miniseries that became a [...]

The feature of interest, "The Power of Solitude" suggests our solitary hobby is good for our health if you exclude the chemicals we may be breathing in! The term used is "crafting solitude" where we carry out a meaningful solitary activity which reduces stress and anxiety and improves relaxation. Here in the UK some doctors working in our National Health Service ( still 'free' at the point of delivery) do social prescribing linking people to activities and social groups to improve well-being.
