Today on NCIA Audrey is Joined by Emmett Reistroffer, Policy Consultant for Denver Relief Consulting. Emmett’s professional roots and passion run deep in cannabis activism, stemming from his first call to action at 19 years old when he volunteered to help multiple sclerosis patients testify at the South Dakota State Capital. From there, Emmett quickly worked his way up into a position of leadership for the local movement by speaking to the press, raising money, and inspiring volunteers. Facing some of the nation’s harshest drug laws, Emmett was able to form a non-profit organization, South Dakota Compassion, and partner with the former chairman of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to organize a coalition of patients and advocates in support of medical marijuana. They talk about him speaking on a panel at our upcoming Cannabis Biz Summit to discuss the social use campaign, so people can learn more about his efforts. Also Emmett gives advice he has for others who want to launch a similar campaign in their region.

In today’s episode, we revisit Kayvan Khalatbari of Denver Relief, Denver Relief Consulting, Sexy Pizza, Sexpot Comedy, Birdy Magazine and much more, to discuss the progress he has made since our last chat. This active and engaged individual is currently involved in over twenty initiatives, both cannabis-related and not, yet all his efforts remain centered in benefiting his community through passion-driven motivation, and blunt honesty.
Kayvan Khalatbari is rarely at rest. He currently runs several businesses in the Denver area, which include the Denver Relief dispensary, Denver Relief Consulting, and his Sexy Pizza restaurant chain, and can be found at the Sexpot comedy shows he produces around town, and sometimes even dressed up as a chicken, following Governor Hickenlooper. He is an interesting character to say the least. He says it is the strong work ethic instilled in him by his mother that keeps him going, and it looks like he won’t be slowing down anytime soon. Coming fresh off a run for public office, he is back hard at work helping businesses in other states prepare for the advent of legalization through Denver Relief Consulting, and gives us some insight on where he thinks the industry is going and how markets are opening up across the nation. What is most striking about Khalatbari, is that despite all of his antics and chock-full schedule, he is 100% committed to giving back to his community through everything that he does.
