Last year we began to emerge from the restrictions of the pandemic and we were able to return to Washington D.C., but in the interim, we hosted some VIRTUAL LOBBY DAYS to fill the gap. And then returning in person, finally, in September last year, it was just like riding a bike, but with a few limitations. Mainly the security protocols for getting into the various House and Senate buildings, but things went mostly smoothly, so we discuss our guest's experience. Some of our goals at Lobby Days have been consistent since Day One, which is generally educating Congress as to why cannabis should be federally legal, and of course, licensed business owners who want to see banking protections and 280E tax reform. It's important that we keep doing this work and keep adding to the conversation as it becomes more complex and sophisticated. We discuss the possibility of newer issues or topics that we're bringing to Capitol Hill more recently or at this next Lobby Days event and much more. Aaron Smith is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the National Cannabis Industry Association, Prior to launching NCIA, Aaron distinguished himself as a public advocate for marijuana policy reform. First under the auspices of a California-based medical cannabis advocacy group, Safe Access Now in 2005, and then as the California state policy director for the Washington, D.C.-based Marijuana Policy Project until founding NCIA in 2010.Monica Gray is from Nice Guys Delivery and is also an NCIA Board member. The guest was Roy Bingham, the CEO of BDSA, who provides businesses with cannabis market intelligence, consumer research, and advisory services. He was welcomed on and apologized for the 50 emails. Roy thanked Leo and mentioned that everyone in the company is smarter than him. The host remembered meeting Roy's team at the NCIA's Cannabis Business Summit in 2016 and said everyone was delightful. The host also remembered having Roy on the 2018 show Cannabis Connection.Roy Bingham, CEO of BDSA, recently released an updated five-year global legal cannabis market forecast, predicting that legal cannabis spending will grow from $32 billion in 2022 to nearly $60 billion by 2027 at a compound annual growth rate of 13.2%. The US is predicted to drive this growth, especially with adult-use markets in Missouri, New Jersey, and New York, as well as the top four markets of Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, and Michigan, which will see an increase of nearly 10% in 2023, adding $770,000,000 in new spend. Despite the rapid price declines and flattening of sales, the cannabis industry is proving to be an impenetrable force, with growth continuing despite inflation and other obstacles. The conversation focused on the current and projected growth of the global cannabis market. The speaker noted that the current global cannabis market is valued at $32 billion, of which the United States makes up over 80%. The speaker projected that the global cannabis market would grow to $60 billion in five years' time, with the United States making up 75% of that total. The conversation then turned to the US market, which is projected to grow to $44.5 billion by 2027 at a compound growth rate of 11%. The speaker then discussed the cause of the slower-than-expected growth in 2020, which was attributed to price compression in mature US markets due to an oversupply of cannabis. Price declines of 10-20% were noted in some of the larger US markets such as California, where a 17% decline was experienced in the five-quarter period ending at the end of last year. The conversation discussed the taxation and revenue issues affecting the legal cannabis industry in California. They discussed the difficulty of being a legal cannabis company in the state, as consumers are still turning to the illicit market due to cheaper prices. The issue has been further compounded by the pandemic and the resulting lockdown orders, making the illicit market even more appealing. The conversation then shifted to investments and the significant decline in stocks of the major macOS in the last twelve months. This has caused companies to struggle to raise capital in order to fuel their growth plans, leading to layoffs and companies trying to get to profitability. The conversation then concluded by discussing the upcoming cannabis markets in New York and New Jersey.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

So we ask, what other evolutions of the vaporizer designs and technologies have you seen?On the other hand, there's the oil, as we mentioned, and we saw a health crisis hit our industry in 2019 and published a white paper on the vaping crisis. In this episode of the #COSIGNConvesations Podcast we sat down with Taja V. Simpson, star of BET's hit show The Oval. We discussed her early beginnings, becoming an actress, entrepreneurship, teaching workshops, and the beauty industry. Taja V. Simpson is a Louisiana native of West African and European decent and her colorful background allows her to constantly bring new characters to life. She fell in love with acting when she was seven years old when she and her cousins would 'play pretend'. They would watch movies, learn all the lines and then act them out for fun. Her favorite movie at that time was Berry Gordy's "The Last Dragon" and to this day she can still recite all the lines in the movie. "Who's The Master? Sho-Nuff!" Although she loved acting at a young age, there weren't any programs or schools in Lake Charles, LA that would help cultivate that skill set. She went on to graduate from McNeese State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communication and an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism. From there, she was on the path of being a News Reporter/Anchor. After College, she moved to Houston, TX but there was a still small voice in her that kept saying, 'you should try acting,' so she did. She enrolled in acting workshops and ended up winning three awards for her performances. (Best Actress, Best Overall Performance and People's Choice) Now, she was bit by the acting bug and there was no turning back. She would have never thought that 'playing pretend' with her family as a young child would also be what she ultimately would do for a living. Versatility is Taja's greatest accomplishments which is what lead her to guest star in multiple roles on some of the most popular television shows of our time. She received her first breakout role in The Bold & The Beautiful as Adele which she recurred on the show for over two years. Since then some of the shows she has appeared in are; Grey's Anatomy, NCIA, The Thundermans, NCIS:LA, The Soul Man, KC Undercover, and Lethal Weapon. Taja was widely known for her role as the fun and sassy wife opposite legendary Actor and Director Tyler Perry; in Lionsgate's "Tyler Perry's Boo2! A Madea Halloween," and can be seen as Priscilla Owen in BET's newest drama, Tyler Perry's "The Oval." Taja is also a film director with over 40 plus productions under her belt from stage plays to music videos and short films. Next up is directing television and her first feature. In her new book,"Cracking The Acting Code: A Practical Step By Step Guide To Becoming A Professional Actor", Taja shares her unique story and expertise from moving from a small town in Louisiana, making it on the big screen in Hollywood, and becoming one of the most trusted names in the entertainment business. In order to succeed in the entertainment industry its important to be multi-talented both on and off screen.
