Jim Gerstein is a pollster and a founding partner of GBA Strategies, a DC-based firm that provides research-based strategic counsel for candidates running for office, non-profit organizations, and for arts and cultural institutions. Since 2008, Gerstein has been conducting national polls of American Jews on election nights, commissioned by J Street. In this episode, J Street's Jessica Rosenblum and APN's Ori Nir talk with Gerstein about his November 6th, 2018 poll. This episode marks a new partnership between Americans for Peace Now and J Street on PeaceCast. The data files of Gerstein's poll are here.
The 2018 Midterm elections are over (mostly) and things turned out much like the pollsters (and The Pollsters) expected, with Democrats taking the House and Republicans making gains in the Senate. While Democrats didn't win some close races, they still managed to do well in legislative chambers. The Pollsters grade the performance of polling across the country in this election and recognize that there are several high profile races where, even though they were within the margin of error, there are likely to be questions about polling reliability. There are a lot of data yet to sift through and there are sure to be post-election polls in the coming days, so be sure to come back next week to get our analysis of all the post-election numbers. One new poll: American Jewish Voters Strongly Oppose Trump, conducted by GBA Strategies, commissioned by J Street. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Hour 1: Trump still supports raising the age limit to buy certain firearms, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters on Tuesday. But her statement is at odds with Republican sources on Capitol Hill, who have told CNN that Trump's interest in the issue has privately waned in recent days. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which works to elect Democrats to the U.S. House, commissioned a survey and analysis from Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research and GBA Strategies to help think through health care messaging. In April, the firm’s veteran pollster Stan Greenberg briefed House Democrats on the findings with a presentation at the offices of the Democratic National Committee. The messaging handouts, obtained by The Intercept, made clear where the party wants its candidates to stand when it comes to health care reform: preferably nowhere, but certainly not with single-payer advocates. Hour 2: The Georgia Senate has approved a bill that would give adoption agencies the ability to decide not to work with LGBTQ couples. Sean Hannity asks Left about right-wing art.
