Surprise! It's Kailey on the airwaves this week -- Kailey and Tom switched it up and she was *thankful* for the opportunity to get to be on the air this weekend (see what I did there?) Featuring tracks by Lennie Gallant, Wayne Nichols, Dr Fabola, Odd Marshall, Kelly Babcock, Tim Harrison, John & Sheila Ludgate, Good For Grapes, Amanda Braam, Jayden Grahlman, Lisa Stethem, Valdy, Pete Bo and Andrina Turenne!
It's the Halloween edition of Georgian Bay Roots! This episode of GBRoots will "Haunt You", give you the "Heebie Jeebies", have you "Waiting on a Ghost", and maybe even get you into a dancing mood for some sweet "Dracula Love"! Featuring music by The Krueger Band, Bahamas, Samantha Martin and the Delta Sugar, The Good Lovelies, Steve Poltz, Rob Elder, Kelly Babcock, Larry Jensen, Good For Grapes, Baskery, RPR, and John Wort Hannam!
Episode 24 sees hosts James and Travis talking with multi-instrumentalist Graham Gomez about teaching guitar, music production, and his experience playing with the folk-rock group Good For Grapes. Then feature guests Troy Gilmour and Connor Brooks from Chase The Bear jump in to the studio to talk band history and unleash some serious rock and roll.
Just stop gentlemen, you are too adorable. Theses guys have that sunshiney West Coast feel, which is weird in Canada because... like... the west coast is notoriously rainy and gets the least amount of sun of almost anyplace else in this country. But BC must be doing something right because they keep turning out consistently talented musicians and this band appears to have nabbed MOST of them at once. Daniel McBurnie, Graham Gomez, Alexa Unwin, Robert Hardie, Alex Hauka, Greg McLeod, Will Watson are Good For Grapes and their sound just plain good for you. www.goodforgrapes.com Their current album The Ropes is available on Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Spotify and ITunes, so go check it out - and tweet at me #GoodforGrapesLOVE when you do. All the best, see you next week. Paula

Yes, kids, it's that time of year again. Have you donated yet to your favourite kumbaya-free folk show? No? Well, head over to the secure donation site at http://citr.ca and please help us out. This year's theme is "Let's Get Digital". Joining me via Dropbox was UBC Radio alumni and station supporter Ken Hardie. Thanks for his contribution of not only money, but great stories and field recordings from the 1960's. Bonus: a new Good For Grapes track! Thanks again for listening, and thanks for your support.See you next week!Val folkoasis@gmail.com
Good evening, ghouls and goblins! This week it's all about the devil (and a few ghosts) from the likes of Cowboy Junkies, Shovels & Rope, Good For Grapes, Whitehorse, and many more. Music to purge demons to..Thanks for listening, hope you enjoyed tonight's show, and stay tuned next week for two more kumbaya-free hours!Val folkoasis@gmail.comTwitter/Instagram: @folkoasis
I've been hearing a lot of good things through the grapevine (excuse the pun) about this band Good For Grapes. Turns out they're all true! Great guys and very energetic live set, even unplugged, in cramped quarters at CiTR. Local heroes, or soon to be. Get to their Vogue Theatre show Dec. 14 for future "I saw 'em when.." bragging rights. Also played some vintage Dave Van Ronk to warm you folks up for the next Coen Bros. movie, which is loosely based on his life and music.Keep warm everyone! Big cold front moving in, we may see some actual pre-Xmas snow here in Vancooolver. Thanks for listening,Val folkoasis@gmail.com
