Continuing the flashbacks from the past 4 decades of hosting this show I chose more old favourites to blend with some great new releases, as well as concert and festival previews. Had to whittle it down from the original 193 songs chosen, to a more manageable 52! Suffice to say, there have been more than a few good memories down these years at CiTR!
My first show at CiTR was on June 1st 1985. Today I continued my 40th Anniversary nostalgia with a bunch more of my fave songs from these past 4 decades, and threw in some tasty new titles as well. This was a very fun trip down memory lane for me, and I still managed to learn something new and exciting along the way. I hope the radio audience enjoyed it, too!

This Full Moon occurs at the last degree of Virgo and the Sun at the last degree of Pisces, on the edge of something great. It falls in the lunar mansion Citrā, ruled by the 'celestial architect' and symbolizing creativity, design, and the pursuit of an ideal life. Virgo plans perfection; Libra, which follows, reminds us to keep everything in balance.Yet, it's a complex lunation. Mercury, ruler of this Moon, is conjunct with Rahu and Neptune—blurring facts with fantasy. Emotions may feel heightened, and rational thinking may be elusive. Venus stations opposite the Full Moon, offering a turning point—potentially positive if we remain open. Meanwhile, as the Sun completes its Pisces journey, we may feel things ending and beginning simultaneously, stirring excitement and uncertainty.Mars in Cancer aspects the Moon as it shifts into Libra, fueling passions. With much in flux, equilibrium may be difficult to maintain. Yet hope remains. Jupiter aspects the Moon from Taurus and exchanges signs with Venus in Pisces, encouraging harmony, healing, and productive dialogue despite the emotional intensity.

Being the closest Saturday to St. Patrick's Day this show was a celebration of Celtic music, with a lot of my favourite Irish artists to the fore. The new CD by Stephen Fearing was released yesterday, so this was a CiTR exclusive. Another exclusive at the end was a track recorded at The Rogue with Co. Clare fiddler Martin Hayes and the late Chicago guitarist Dennis Cahill in 2017. These tunes were never recorded by the duo on any of their albums.

A mixed bag of new releases, a sad R.I.P. to Marianne Faithfull, some vitriolic songs hurled south and east in the general direction of the new capital of fascism in DC, and a whole lot of great music made in Canada by some very talented Canadian musicians. And some great tunes and songs from elsewhere too. Plus a nod of appreciation to former CiTR alumnus Susi Lanagan who has hosted What The Folk! on PBS in Melbourne for the past 20 years. With a fair bit of help from me all along the way. Her final show airs next Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm Pacific on www.pbsfm.org.au
