Angelic GoldskyAngelic Goldsky [t(he)y] is Russian-Jewish trans-gender, queer poetry-excavator and performer. They have been honored to transmute words across Turtle Island and Europe, unearthing what was once buried in silencing language. Goldsky likes to rip apart and release definitions of queerness, transness, spirituality, refuge, migration and exile. They do this through clownery, spoken word music, and performance sorcery, leading them international stages with rabbis, queer clowns, trans politicians, the United Nations, TEDx and the Vogue Theatre. They have been published in Frontier Poetry and SAD Mag among other journals, as well as work on the editorial board of the Room Magazine. They have performed embodiment work exploring radical presence at the Belkin Art Gallery’s Spill: Response and the Or Gallery’s Resurgence exhibition. Goldsky has developed programs in partnership with The Museum of Anthropology, Jewish Queer Trans Vancouver and Everybody Is In Downtown Eastside, working in community cohesion through art and media. They love creating arts space where everyone can be celebrated and honored in full spectrum. They are currently the Poet in Residence at Roundhouse Community Arts Centre, leading various community arts engagement programs for youth and the LGBTQQ2SIA+ community. Angelic has been known to hate taxidermies and love timelessness. Hayla RaglandHayla Ragland is a Seattle-based intermedia artist. They received a BFA in Studio Art and a BA in Psychology from University of Kentucky, where they were a John R. Gaines Fellow for the Humanities. The artist’s practice is responsive to their work in social and cognitive psychology, including work at the Markey Cancer Center, the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging and as a caregiver. Ragland’s artwork maintains concerns for cognition, behavior, and health, and their interventionary roles in social constructs and racialized histories. Using textile, sculpture, and photography, they constructs motifs of the unsound body, investigating the seat of the grotesque in contemporary visual culture, with respect to race, gender, ability, and mediated conceptions of worth. Ragland has completed residencies at Vermont Studio Center, Artscape Gibraltar in Toronto Canada, and is the May 2021 resident at Oxbow, Seattle. They are the recipient of a Chinese travel grant from the Confucius Institute and a Names Fellow Award from the Photographic Center Northwest. Their most recent solo show, entitled /Sections, was on view at Shift Gallery, in Seattle, Washington in January of 2021.

8 years ago, the East Side Church took on the Vogue Theatre in Miramichi, turning the empty building into a venue for live music and comedy.The building was destroyed by a fire over the weekend. We'll speak with Pastor Victor Somers.

Rumor has it that the new Parquet Courts record could drop at any moment. Like any fan, I can't wait to see what the new music will be like. The new record was produced by the legendary Danger Mouse. I hung out with guitarist and vocalist Andrew Savage (who also releases solo music under the name A. Savage) backstage at the Vogue Theatre while he rolled some cigarettes--or "jazz cigarettes" as he calls them. It was a warm late summer September evening and the band were in town touring the 5th record, Human Performance. I had just come from Vancouver's Wreck Beach--the city's nude beach--so naturally I started our chat by asking Andrew the last time he had been to a nude beach himself... How was the band's border crossing? Does Andrew has any priors? What are they? Does Andrew risk setting off a fire alarm to smoke his jazz cigarette? Which band member suffers from "misophonia" and what is it? Do the co-writers in Parquet Courts ask each other what the other's songs are about? What's it like to try something different with the band's sound? Which Parquet Courts song does Andrew feel is the closest thing to the band's manifesto? Rumor has it that the new Parquet Courts record could drop at any moment. Like any fan, I can't wait to see what the new music will be like. Parquet Courts are a band committed to their craft and determined to grow. I hung out with guitarist and vocalist Andrew Savage (who also releases solo music under the name A. Savage) backstage at the Vogue Theatre while he rolled some cigarettes--or "jazz cigarettes" as he calls them. It was a warm late summer September evening and the band were in town touring the 5th record, Human Performance. I had just come from Vancouver's Wreck Beach--the city's notorious nude beach--so naturally I started our chat by asking Andrew the last time he had been to a nude beach himself... In September 2016 researcher Terra Barrett spent a week in Grand Falls-Windsor collecting stories and memories of Main Street, Windsor. This was part of the Merchants and Memories project which was a partnership between the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Grand Falls-Windsor Heritage Society. The Society wanted to focus on Windsor to celebrate the diverse community that grew up on Main Street across from the train station. This podcast is a selection of memories about Main Street which take the listener back to the heyday of the shopping district of Windsor. When I met with Paul from PS I Love You in the alley behind Vancouver's beautiful Vogue Theatre to chat, he had been running around all day in search of a new guitar pedal. Paul was 99 of SPIN magazine's 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. (He beat out Skrillex at 100.) When I snagged Zachary Gray from The Zolas, backstage at his sold out show at the Vogue Theatre (with Calgary band The Dudes), Zach was a little preoccupied, juggling his two “strapping Scandinavian” merch guys and getting family into the venue.
