Resist is a retail store, record label, touring company, management and booking agency that specialises in hardcore and punk music. We take the show out of the studio and into RESIST RECORDS in Marrickville with owner and Parkway Drive manager Graham Nixon. We discuss the origins of the label, Brett from Epitaph/Bad Religion signing Parkway; MIndsnare joining the label as well as old acts and new. All right in time for the Resist Records 25 year anniversary show!
We are celebrating 50 Episodes of Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall with a Very Special Parkway Drive dedicated show featuring the band's legendary frontman Mr Winston McCall who is on co-host duties chatting all about the band's new #1 album Reverence and their upcoming tour with Killswitch Engage and Thy Art is Murder. Since the band formed in 2003, they've released six incredibly mesmerising albums, each release outdoing the last in terms of style, ferociousness and progression, however, when you accumulate a fanbase who are too hellbent on living in the past, you constantly find yourself having to defend your motives and actions when changing up styles as the years go by and Winston isn't afraid to address the backlash and resentment targetted towards him and the Parkway boys in his chat with podcast host Browny. The conversation also leads to why they have never brought their European shows to Australia (considering they formed here in Byron Bay) and what it's like having Killswitch opening for them now, years after their guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz perduced their first two releases. We've also got two very special guests joining in the conversation including Graham Nixon, the band's Manager and head honcho of Resist Records, who signed them wayyy back in the day. He talks about their early years, how he discovered them and shares a few stories along the way + Dan McMaster, frontman for the now defunct pop punk act Skyway also chats about how they managed to get Winston McCall to do guest vocals on one of their songs and what it was like working with him in the studio and on the stage at one of the shows both bands played. Plus we travel through the band's extensive back catalogue of albums, kicking things off with 2005's Killing with a Smile, then stopping by Horizons (2007), Deep Blue (2010), Atlas (2012) and Ire (2015), all the way through to their 2018 release Reverence. There's also a few surprises along the way too, so strap yourself in for one of the most extensive Parkway Drive podcasts available, coming in at just over two hours, we guarantee you'll love every minute of it. Episode 165 - Sorry for the break last week, but I needed a break and well you just have to deal with it. We are back with glimpse at the life of a record label outside of the United States. I rang up Graham Nixon from Resist Records, as well as the manager of metal-core giants Parkway Drive, to discuss finding what you are passionate about, representing an entire country to the music world and one of my favorite subjects, golf.
