This week on Toilet Radio: Tommy Vext is teaming up with the guy that got fired from Thy Art is Murder on a ChatGPT-penned track that absolutely honks. We explore. Joe found a Billboard top modern rock tracks chart from 2002 that sent him into a downward spiral. We spend a good portion of the show talking about music in the Before Internet times, the tyranny of radio, and uncomfortable childhood memories. Finally, we read a very good email we got from a Zoomer metalhead who enlightens us on the new frontiers of metal discovery. We discuss this, and the future, of heavy metal in a post-tiktok world. This one is a little different but I think it's a good one? Like this show? Want more? Get hundreds of hours of exclusive content over at the Toilet ov Hell Patreon. Metalheads! Tracey asked us to each pick a band that it is surprising that we haven't yet reviewed. The results, Robinson, Thy Art is Murder, Drowning Pool, and the Scorpions.
This week on Toilet Radio we're back to our regularly scheduled programming and exploring some of the things we missed over the last month. First up: VextApp! Tommy Vext plans to release new music exclusively through a vanity app and honestly, it seems like this idiot might finally be on to a good idea. BECAUSE, Spotify is now cutting rev shares even lower and Bandcamp has been acquired by the Bain Capital of music licensing. Not great! Also, Aaron Lewis shares many characteristics with legit sociopaths! Thy Art is Murder did one of the funniest things we've ever seen a band do and it left Ronnie Radke sputtering in impotent rage! Hilarious! Finally, we take a look at the new Sick Sad World festival, Foo Fighters headlining Hell Fest(?) and Dee Snider continues to Al Bundy his one accomplishment in life. Folks...... it's good to be back. Like this show? Want more? Get hundreds of hours of exclusive content over at the Toilet ov Hell Patreon. Also rein ins cineastische Circle-Pit!

The Astral Sleep, 1991)Rotting Christ - Orders from the Dead [feat. After a couple of months off, we're back with our first interview of 2021. Lazarus Complex play an explosive combination of death metal and hardcore that even goes as far as peppering in some progressive metal influences to keep things fresh. The band is made up vocalist / lyricist / bassist Jake Schultheis and guitarist / drummer / bassist Joe Murphy and our based out of Massachusetts and New Jersey. Their latest single, "The Redeemer," caught my attention after I noticed Jason Wisdom of Death Therapy and Becoming the Archetype did guest vocals for the track. Being a big fan of Jason and his bands, I gave the song a listen and discovered there was more to this duo than just a special guest vocalist. They deliver a bludgeoning dose of extreme metal that fans of Impending Doom, early Embodyment, Whitechapel, and Thy Art is Murder will immediately latch on to. I had the opportunity to chat with both Jake and Joe from Lazarus Complex recently. Guess what we talked about? If you said movies, music, and more, then you would be correct. Who are there favorite music artists? What superheroes excite and inspire them? These questions and more are answered in the interview. You can get more info about Lazarus Complex on their official Facebook page. Be sure to visit www.moviesmusicmore.com for the latest entertainment news.

After announcing their arrival on the metal scene with the destructive EP Rot and I late last year, Melbourne heavy hitters Wither have wasted little time in releasing new music, unleashing the brutally aggressive single 'Use Me' last month. It is a song which showcases the musical talent of the band and also signifies their intentions going forward."It came together really, really quickly", vocalist David De La Hoz proudly revealed. "We decided that we wanted to put out a song and we had a lot of material in the works but we felt it was right to start from scratch. We gave ourselves a deadline - it was something ridiculous like four or five days- and all we knew was we wanted it to be fast and heavy and I think we delivered those things (laughs)".In the full interview David discusses 'Use Me' in greater detail, talks us through the dark film clip, explains the importance of regular output of music in the modern musical age, gives details on upcoming release shows for the single, talks about their recently completed tour as support to Thy Art is Murder, discusses their upcoming performance at BigSound and the importance of a showcase event like that to bands and more.

On Fresh is the Word, we like to deliver wisdom through great stories from the minds of bright creatives of pop culture. Through those stories, we like to dissect the journey of our guests and present actionable lessons and advice for our listeners no matter what career or avenue of artistry they pursue. The guest for this episode is mixer, engineer, and producer Will Putney, who is also the guitarist for the deathcore band Fit For An Autopsy and the band END. Recently, STL Tones, the leading commercial seller of Kemper & Axe FX Tones announced the release of the The Will Putney Tonality Plug-In Suite. During our chat we talked about The Will Putney Tonality Plug-In Suite and the doors it opens up creatively, his role when he's producing or engineering for a band and his methods in the studio, growing with bands he produced in the studio, getting past creative differences, his upbringing in music, and his experiences producing bands over the past decade. I also asked him about some of my favorites recent albums he's produced recently from Body Count, Vein, and Thy Art is Murder, along with trying to be unique in metal, what's going on with Fit For An Autopsy and END, and the creativity from building friendships. Each episode, the guest is asked to suggest someone from their life/career that should be on Fresh is the Word that would have good stories to tell. Putney chose his production mentor, music producer Machine, and his manager Johnny Minardi from Self Titled Management. We are celebrating 50 Episodes of Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall with a Very Special Parkway Drive dedicated show featuring the band's legendary frontman Mr Winston McCall who is on co-host duties chatting all about the band's new #1 album Reverence and their upcoming tour with Killswitch Engage and Thy Art is Murder. Since the band formed in 2003, they've released six incredibly mesmerising albums, each release outdoing the last in terms of style, ferociousness and progression, however, when you accumulate a fanbase who are too hellbent on living in the past, you constantly find yourself having to defend your motives and actions when changing up styles as the years go by and Winston isn't afraid to address the backlash and resentment targetted towards him and the Parkway boys in his chat with podcast host Browny. The conversation also leads to why they have never brought their European shows to Australia (considering they formed here in Byron Bay) and what it's like having Killswitch opening for them now, years after their guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz perduced their first two releases. We've also got two very special guests joining in the conversation including Graham Nixon, the band's Manager and head honcho of Resist Records, who signed them wayyy back in the day. He talks about their early years, how he discovered them and shares a few stories along the way + Dan McMaster, frontman for the now defunct pop punk act Skyway also chats about how they managed to get Winston McCall to do guest vocals on one of their songs and what it was like working with him in the studio and on the stage at one of the shows both bands played. Plus we travel through the band's extensive back catalogue of albums, kicking things off with 2005's Killing with a Smile, then stopping by Horizons (2007), Deep Blue (2010), Atlas (2012) and Ire (2015), all the way through to their 2018 release Reverence. There's also a few surprises along the way too, so strap yourself in for one of the most extensive Parkway Drive podcasts available, coming in at just over two hours, we guarantee you'll love every minute of it. Back by popular demand, "One Minute to Midnight," in which veteran musician and producer Eyal Levi lends his ear and expertise to two unsigned bands who submitted music for us to pick apart. We give Hasta La Muerte and With Silent Eyes some creative direction and tips and tricks that could make their music better. Last week Derek Brewer of Outerloop Management wrote an Op-Ed piece for MetalSucks on Thy Art is Murder vocalist CJ McMahon's claim that he wasn't making enough money to live on. We invited Derek on the show to talk a little more in depth about the budgeting numbers he listed, why they' don't apply to everyone and what you can really expect as a growing band out there on the road. In light of Myrkur mastermind Amalie Bruun's decision to cut her social media presence due to death threats from, as she puts it, "mainly American men," we discuss why these men might have problems with women, or at least women who somehow threaten their sexuality and dominance over the music industry. Are our collective penises so small we need to assault all that we don't like with violence? Why are some of us so obsessed and feel the need to take it to that level?
