Pop Punk Is Alive and thriving in Australia and one band who is leading the pack at the moment is Syndey's Stand Atlantic who are on the verge of releasing their new album Pink Elephant on Friday through Hopeless Records so naturally, we had to get frontwoman Bonnie Fraser on the show to chat about it. It's bittersweet when a band have to release an album following the passing of a key band member (or any member for that matter) but HELLYEAH are in this exact situation following the sudden death of drummer Vinnie Paul last year, just after he had wrapped up recording his drum parts for the band's new album Welcome Home. LOSER who absolutely, positively do NOT live up to their band name and are some of the funniest and musically driven guys you'll ever meet (with plenty of unfortunate stories to tell about their travels) and one of the greatest bands produced in Australia since (well, ever!) Outright, who are hardcore punk specialists with a brilliant sound behind them, a fantastic purpose and motivation and seriously, an incredible group of individuals doing their part to make the scene inclusive, welcoming and eradicated of the scum which sometimes seeps its way into it (despite not being welcome). Every so often an album lands in our inbox that we can't help but get behind and talk about and that's exactly what happened when Sydney's Igloo Zoo handed us a copy of Light|Sound|Dimensions which is a prog/metalcore lover's wet dream. The band consists of one man, Shawn Mayer, who is the mastermind behind the idea and sound which can best be described as Devin Townsend meets Architects and Northlane. The album (LSD for short) is just that, a musical adventure exploring what an acid trip is like with the highs and lows from start to end. There's a certain stigma surrounding the Death Metal/Core genre where some naysayers refuse to listen to it due to the sheer intensity of the music and bellowing screams being flung their  way, but once you can push past the barriers, you'll discover enlightenment through some of the heaviest riffs and blast beats on this planet and a band who are renown for infecting the masses with their brutal sounds is Boris The Blade, who unfortunately, have announced they're pulling the pin on the band after almost a decade together. Arguably up there with the great heavy acts from Australia, the guys have toured the globe and were even called upon to play at the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival, a dream frontman Sharpy The Blade never thought possible when he used to watch the DVDs of the show growing up. When bands go through lineup changes it can mean one of two things, one of which is the band won't be the same as they used to be, the other is the flourish into a new entity and continue to dominate with the legion of fans they accumulated over the years and that's what we're predicting for Ocean Grove who debuted their latest member Twiggy this week, who replaces ex-frontman Luke Holmes and guitarist Jimmy Hall. The Good Things Festival made its debut up Australia's East Coast between December 7-9, 2018 and of course, we had to work out way into the compound to get you up close to some of the bands from the lineup. Usually when bands release an album and the hype wears down, there's the long wait that follows before fans can finally get their hands on some new material, but every now and then an act can surprise us all with a small taste of what's to come in the form of a single or EP and that's what AFI have done with their new offering The Missing Man EP. The new collection of songs showcases what the band are truly capable of when they use their 27 years of experience together (20 for this week's guest co-host) and offer up five new songs that are unique, but still with that signature AFI tone. Guitarist Jade Puget joins Browny to talk about their decision to release an EP rather than waiting for a full-length album and his response really goes to show the band are certainly looking out for their fanbase (new and old).
