At age eight, Zoya Kalinsky was instructed to leave the classroom by her math's teacher who told her she can only come back when she "stops twitching." - a condition outside of her control. Today, that same girl stands confidently in the United Nations Economic and Social Council chamber, addressing global leaders about her experience, the need to solve the bullying issue once and for all, and how we can transform our education systems to achieve that. In this episode, we meet Zoya at thirteen, fresh from speaking at the UN's Summit of the Future and launching ambitious initiatives as Skyway's youth ambassador. The Learning Economy established the Skyway initiative to address the growing need for a modernized approach to learning, as many existing systems struggle to keep up with the demands of an evolving, interconnected global society. Zoya is one of many students pioneering this novel learning model of change. But Zoya isn't just talking about change – she's living it. What do oscilloscopes, Swiss cheese, and Barack Obama have to do with Disney's defunct Skyway ride? In this episode, we dive into the history and exciting (hopeful) future of the Disney Skyliner. The Skyliner currently serves four resorts and two theme parks at Walt Disney World. Inspired by the original Skyway gondola system that once connected Fantasyland and Tomorrowland in Disneyland and Magic Kingdom, the Skyliner combines nostalgia with modern innovation. Each gondola features designs with beloved Disney characters, adding an extra touch of magic to the transportation experience.With the help of Johnny J from the DMSW Podcast, we're thrilled to unveil a new extension and update to the Skyliner. This expansion aims to enhance the transportation system while adding immersive and interactive experiences, similar to the Hogwarts Express at Universal. Redesigned Skyliner cabins will feature state-of-the-art screens displaying themed visuals and character interactions, making the ride an attraction in itself. We're also introducing air conditioning and solar panels to ensure comfort and eco-friendliness. Disney's Hollywood Studios turns 35 at Walt Disney World this May, opening as Disney-MGM Studios in 1989. Over its 35-year history, the park has undergone a large evolution, so extensive that its five opening day attractions (including the Great Movie Ride and Backlot Studio Tour) are all no longer a part of the park. Nevertheless, this is a park that Disney fans of all ages adore, and it's full of interesting history and incredible Imagineering details worth discussing.   In this episode, I'm joined by Tim Moore from WDW Magazine to discuss some of our favorite Imagineering stories and personal anecdotes about Disney's Hollywood Studios.   Plus, sure to take advantage of a special promo code just for listeners. What’s Trending: A Federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit that challenged the ability for non-citizens in Washington DC to vote. Public schools in Washington will be required to teach LGBTZ history by 2025. Gov. Jay Inslee signed the bill into law that would require this history be taught while the Holocaust is optional.  // Big Local: The city of Burien has decided to raise their minimum wage, bigger companies are going to be required to pay their employees $3 more than the minimum, smaller companies will have a $2 over the minimum wage requirement. A smash and grab in Skyway that was targeted at at pot shop ended up with the criminals broke into the wrong building and broke into a business that was not in the cannabis industry. There is a burglary spree going on in Maple Valley and the businesses are wising up that they should improve their security measures. // You Pick The News: A handgun was found in the lunchbox of a 2-year-oldwhile at daycare. This happened in Florida and the mother of the child said they she stores her handgun in her glove box in her car but switched her placement of it to her child’s lunchbox because she does not have a purse. 

The government buys lots of services…but not all service contracts work the same way. There are personal services, non-personal services, Service Contract services, advisory services, and so on. We have a whole podcast playlist just for service contracts.One common type of services is Professional Services. These services are defined as having a “recognized status based upon acquiring professional knowledge through prolonged study.” In other words, these are skilled services that require expertise, education, and/or time to master.  The level of expertise, education and time can impact how much a “professional” is paid for said services. How then does the government know what a reasonable rate is for these services?Enter: The Evaluation of Compensation for Professional Employees (52.222-46).This clause is critical for evaluating professional services. As the government continues to rely on professional expertise of contractors, both government and industry need to understand the requirement for, and application of, this clause.
