Anthony Smith is an American UFC contender in the light heavyweight division and he takes on Australian Jimmy Crute in Florida this weekend. A year ago he deployed his MMA skills to subdue a home intruder until Police arrived. Here Anthony talks candidly about the PTSD he, his wife and three daughters have suffered from the incident and his belief that all people would benefit from learning self-defence techniques.
Here Anthony and I delve into how he first became inspired to be an actor, the climate of theatre in Seattle as well as being an African American male in our current day. Anthony Simmons is a 27 year old graduate from Cornish College of the Arts (2015). He was born and raised in San Diego California where he began acting at the age of 7. Currently living in Seattle Washington, he was just recently seen onstage for Sound Theatre Company’s world premiere play “Reparations”. Fortunate to grow up around the rich club culture of NYC and influenced by the sounds around him, Avision now finds himself helping to usher in a new wave of techno for the New York scene. Over the last couple of years, he’s had releases on a range of influential labels like Ellum, Drumcode, Hardgroove, Machine, We Are The Brave, Mindshake, Intec, On Edge Society, and many more. Support for his productions have been coming in strong from tastemakers like Adam Beyer, Maceo Plex, Nicole Moudaber, Chris Liebing, Laurent Garnier, Joseph Capriati, and The Martinez Brothers to name a few. Avision started young on the turntables at age 12, and his preference for a more mature sound lead to his first residency by the time he was 15. Recent touring highlights include gigs at The Brooklyn Mirage and Time Warp in NYC, Fabrik Madrid, Pacha Barcelona, Stereo Montreal, and Space Miami, as well as festivals like Elrow, The BPM Festival, and Dockyards in Amsterdam. Avision’s legacy is growing through clubland like a supernova exploding in the farthest reaches of our galaxy…and he’s just getting started. Here Anthony steps up to deliver a high energy, thumping disco and house mix to deliver you into the weekend with a b-b-b-b-bang! Artist: @avisionofficial

Something different yall...again! Welcome to part 2 of episode 11 of Justin's Apartment. Let's watch a movie together shall we. Here Anthony (@murseant) and Justin (@justin_mallari on Twitter; @justinmallari on IG) disect the oh so terrible movie called "Mantera". It's so bad, we had to save our listeners by splitting this into two parts. Anyways, please email us justinsAPTpodcast@gmail.com and rate, comment, subscribe on iTunes. Both themes this week are by The Good Lawdz. "Chuuch" is the intro, and as always, "A Lil Somethin Somethin" is what kicks off the episode. Enjoy this mediocre episode, but love Anthony and Justin please!!!
