Welcome to an all new Carolina Reeper! In this episode... I'm giving money away! Again! Who will win? Tune in to find out! Also, it's National Soft Ice Cream Day. So grab yourself a cone, a bowl, or just hold it under the machine like a ferrel kid at a Golden Corral. In our Best Trends segment — the Cambridge Dictionary just added new words. Are they delulu? Also trending, salmon-flavored candy. Is it candy or bait? In Small Town News, demon bunnies. Yep, in Colorado, they've got rabbits with horns growing out of their heads. Also! A big shoutout and thank you to Carthage, Texas and Alexandria, LA. Love y'all, thanks for coming out and supporting live comedy. And sadly, we've got to say goodbye to a legend. Terence Stamp aka General Zod, gone at 87. He told us to “kneel before Zod.” Well tonight, we bow our heads instead. Rest easy, General. So tune in, hang out with me in the comments, and let's do this thing together. Don't be delulu — it's gonna be straight-up snackable comedy. All this and more on this week's Carolina Reeper! Donald Trump has laid the groundwork to become one of the wealthiest people on the planet by personally making money from every dollar printed in the United States. And the worse the economy gets, the more money he stands to make. The House has already passed three crypto bills that would make this potential a reality by allowing the Trump family to control the global stablecoin market. Now it’s up to the Senate. It’s a wild story that the media won’t report on because they don’t get it. But some very powerful people have figured it out and now the race is on to stop Trump from becoming the shadow central banker to the world. Send us a textHave you ever witnessed irony so perfect it seems scripted? The co-owner of "Trump Burger" in Houston—a restaurant shrine to Donald Trump complete with MAGA colors and themed menu items—now faces deportation for overstaying his visa.Roman Merez Baini, a 28-year-old Lebanese national, entered the US in 2019 on a visitor visa but didn't leave when it expired in February 2024. According to ICE, he attempted to secure residency through a fraudulent marriage that immigration officials investigated and voided. With an assault charge also on his record, Baini now awaits an immigration hearing scheduled for November 2025 that will determine his fate in America. The case perfectly illustrates America's contradictory relationship with immigration. We celebrate immigrants as essential workers building our infrastructure and staffing our service industry, yet political rhetoric often turns hostile toward these same individuals. What's particularly striking is how some immigrants embrace anti-immigration politics as a shield, hoping alignment will protect them—but as Baini's situation demonstrates, the law cuts without favoritism. This story transcends one man's immigration troubles. It's about the dangerous intersection of personal identity, political branding, and immigration policy. When you tie your livelihood to a political figure whose policies directly target people in your demographic, you're playing a risky game where the house usually wins. Whether you find this news satisfying or troubling says more about your politics than about Baini himself.Listen to this episode for a thought-provoking exploration of political contradiction, immigration policy, and the sometimes uncomfortable ironies of American life. Share your thoughts on social media—we'd love to hear your perspective on this uniquely American story. Support the show

Nifty. Woop Woop. This one is off the rails from go when Our Heroes don't get the time from Nick. You voted for this one and we're eating it. It's mushy & mushy facts. Michael thinks Alix Earle is more like Alex Earl and there's some miscommunication but it's fine because Nick is feeling the momentum and really going for it. Is this a case of branding getting people to buy this burger because we can't figure it out. John's been chained to a typewriter diarising his life experiences, and he's so confident about his memoir that he's written “this is a good book” in Bic on its cover. Something all the great authors do, and he clearly has confidence in his witty emotionally hefty prose. But anyway, in this chapter of the Elis James and John Robins show we're whisked to the sunny shores of the Iberian peninsula, because Dave has a Made Up Game that required an entire week of deliberation and a classroom's worth of children.Plus, turn another page and you'll find a one off feature which may or may not feature a dulcetly crooned jingle.Remember you can catch bonus E&J only on BBC Sounds on The Bureau de Change of the Mind. So go and inhale those if you haven't done so already. (We're past DI Robbyns nonsense now, so it's just more of the boys).Get all your passing thoughts in to elisandjohn@bbc.co.uk or 07974 293 022 on WhatsApp.

Send us a textHost Lindsay Persohn reflects on Season 5's journey through literacy education, where conversations explored evolving reading debates, strategies for supporting diverse learners, vocabulary development, and content-specific literacies. Lindsay also shares a recap of research presentations and publications related to podcasting by the Classroom Caffeine team.Season 6 of the show promises two compelling special series. The first examines the transformative power of graduate studies for educators, featuring candid conversations with professionals who've pursued advanced degrees and discovered new pathways for growth and impact. These discussions illuminate how continued education shapes not just career opportunities but also classroom practice and student outcomes. The second series spotlights the Spencer Foundation-supported "Stories to Live By" project, exploring how Florida teachers help students navigate climate challenges through place-based learning. As communities face hurricanes, flooding, and environmental uncertainty, these educators work at the critical intersection of climate science, political tensions, and students' lived experiences—empowering young people to think critically and act practically in response to ongoing change.Publications mentioned in this episode:Persohn, L., Burger, L., & Geren, K. Mazel morons! Today we're kicking things off with sports talk before diving into Josh's absolutely unhinged Dennis Rodman story-complete with alien emojis, North Korea, and an on-air crime confession that mysteriously never made it to broadcast. From there, we spiral into swaddles, chowder in 100-degree heat, and Josh's first-ever allergic reaction (spoiler: expired lotion is the villain). Plus, we answer YOUR questions about camping cuisine and baby registries, and give our take on an overhyped alert. What are ya nuts? Love ya!
