CTH, Episode 58, D&D Old School/ New SchoolWarning: There is a special guest on todays show who may or not exact an inhuman amount of hilarity! Hint: We are at our quota for dwarves now! Welcome to the DDO Cocktail Hour where we discuss the social aspects of Dungeons and Dragons Online, Eberron Unlimited. This week we are joined by CTHs own Adan Maskery as well as the head of the CTH art department, Clankenbeard! We needed their help to dig into tabletop gaming! There is also quite a deep explanation of what completionist is, as well as the further planning of Samius Gurobos End of The World Comprehensive Power Point Presentation! Listen to find out why Samius wants to order alligator meat online and learn the life skill of making moonshine! Thanks so much for listening! (I swear I am NOT the crazy one!)Intro: PregameHow much does alligator cost online anyway?Captain America! (Go see it, if you havent already! (We are #9 on Cyberears!)Adan Maskerys Alcoholic Apothecary D&D talk! Warning: This discussion is looooooong! (Information from the DDO Wiki, and submitted by the members of Guild ROTT, Thelanis)o Dark vision and Low-Light Vision have no place in DDO, so the advantage of dwarves and elves does not transfer over from PnP. Also, the disadvantage of slower movement rates for dwarves and Halflings do not exist, hence removing a racial penalty.o When planning your character, it becomes difficult to wrap your mind around the easy way to renew your HP, SP, and change your spells by using rest shrines. In PnP you have to conserve your resources because you only get spells back, and change them, after 8 hours of rest the next day, and you get your level in HP back each night. o There is an increased spell power that is in correlation with the increased number of monsters you face, and they are on a SP system. When you play PnP you have limited spell slots that you must use wisely.o When you die in DDO, and not doing PD, it is a negligible penalty of a level loss that comes back eventually. In PnP you lose a level or 2 points of Constitution. And the higher level spells are significantly expensive.o The rate of advancement is significantly lower. According to the DDOWiki, in PnP you advance a level after every 13-14 encounters, in DDO you will probably have way more than that many per quest, and each quest might only give you about 5-15% of the experience necessary to advance a level.o In DDO, except for PVP, your area effect spells do not damage your allies. While there is a way to do so in PnP, it takes precious feats to get the same effect.o In PnP you have the ability to manipulate anything in your environment to help you. In DDO it is not a technology that exists yet. We have all had that event when we wish we could just throw up a grappling hook and climb a wall.o In DDO when you charm a monster it is unable to be affected by you until the effect is dismissed, dispelled, or wears off. In PnP when you are ready to dispatch the evil monster you just do so.Lessah tries to get Clankenbeard to break characterThe quirkiest character you ever made

Warning: Dry British Humor contained within! Where news-based podcasts might take themselves too seriously, we pride ourselves on riveting our TENS of followers with drunken banter! We dont fear the lowest common denominator we wholly embrace it! And oh yes we WILL tell what we are drinking because its called COCKTAIL HOUR! Also, todays show is not exclusively about DDO! I know its shocking, but people cannot eat, sleep, and breathe the exact same game for four years straight! Sure we talk DDO, but we wander waaaay off topic this episode and even use complete sentences at one point! Once again, if you are looking for hard-hitting news, please refer our parent show: The DDO Cast. Otherwise sit back, relax, grab your favorite cocktail whatever that might be, and enjoy as we explore the lighter side of Dungeons and Dragons Online, Eberron Unlimited! Cue the Benny Hill Music, because this week Samius and Lessah welcome long-time podcasters Van Hemlock and Jon Shute from the Van Hemlock Podcast to the show! Our crew veer off-topic a bit to discuss the finer points of gaming and how to wade through so many game choices in such a heavily saturated market.
