The Knights of the Old Republic's characters are what make it the strongest Star Wars video game series of all time. Even though the combat model, graphics, and RPG elements are somewhat archaic, the characters, including the villains, stands the test of time. In fact, I challenge anyone in the comments to mention a better cast of characters or stronger dialogue in the genre today. When I played KOTOR for the first time in 8th grade, RPGs were an enigma to me. All I wanted to do was mainline the story, not bothering with any paths of resistance or sidequests that were too challenging. I can recall never skipping dialogue and always reading descriptions of every weapon and piece of armor I acquired. I wanted to absorb everything I could about this new Star Wars universe like Darth Nihilus devouring the Force. Now, as a seasoned ultra-chad gamer, I see how much content I left unplayed. I complete as many quests as possible, minmax my stats, and try to complete all my companions' quests as well. However, when it comes to Star Wars, the villains must stand out. This is the franchise that has the villain, after all. And although the villains in KOTOR mirror or rhyme the OT, the baddies of KOTOR 2 are clearly in a world of their own. These are monsters that you will never forget. Let's just say they would eat Sidious and Vader for lunch, but they are also tragic in their own way. I hope you'll enjoy this discussion with the Brothers Krynn, who are also huge fans of these games.

Star Wars news remains scarce, but each month closer to the release of the next project brings us better insights as to what's coming, so why not talk a little about what has come this October? Last month, we got a trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu and this month we hear about Rotta and Colonel Bishop.Ahsoka's second season wrapped production, so now is when we wait until what's left of the Ghost crew gets their public relations directives. You hear that Ahsoka and Hera? Starfighter has a news note, too, believe it or not.Knights of the Old Republic may still get it's "Final Fantasy VII" style reimagining and Quantic Dream might be sleepwalking toward a celestial event. Batuu gets some old parts back...again...and collectors can score some pretty cool pieces of plastic, if they're willing to pay a premium.Feel free to take part in contributing ideas and commenting on our podcasts on YouTube, on Spotify, on Facebook, through Amazon's podcast portal, or even on Discord. The Acolyte deep dive!! Like the Acolyte or loathe it, this episode is an honest, full on, sleeves rolled up dive into the Disney+ show which became more divisive to the fan base than The Last Jedi. For this very special recording, Dan and Jez were joined by long time listener and fan of The Old Republic era Mark Spriggs. Mark was brought onboard to provide extra knowledge of the era and was graciously the balance needed against Dan's feelings on the series! In a first for Generation Skywalker, this Disney+ focus show includes mini committees where the lads vote for their Top 5 favourite parts of The Acolyte but also the Top 5 worst parts of the series! You may have previously thought of Jez as the cheeriest of Star Wars fans who laps up all Disney Star Wars content, so this show might surprise you with the direction it takes half way through! This show isn't intended to upset or ostracise anyone but it pulls no punches. Regardless of your stance on the Acolyte, this is a must listen to show!

Then, we'll dive into the development of KOTOR, from its combat system and memorable companions to the tech hurdles and narrative risks that helped redefine what licensed games could achieve. Finally, we'll reflect on the game's legacy, its influence on future RPGs, and the status of its long-rumored remake. Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we start a new game in our series on independent games with 2004's Cave Story. We briefly set the game in its time, talk a little about its developer, and then talk about the game proper. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary.
