Extraction shooters are finally confronting their identity crisis. Is Marathon the answer, or just another branch of the same lineage?Phil, Sides, and Anjos break down a pivotal moment for shooters: Highguard's collapse, Marathon's high-stakes launch, and Overwatch's unexpected resurgence. The debate rage on: are we watching the evolution of battle royale into something more persistent, or just another iteration of Tarkov's legacy? We discuss:● Highguard's shutdown and the limits of modern marketing○ Hate-playing, sentiment collapse, and losing control of narrative post-launch● Marathon's design thesis○ Persistent battle royale vs traditional extraction shooter lineage○ Lower friction loops, faster re-entry, and softened risk systems● The genre split○ Arc Raiders as first-principles PvE extraction○ Marathon as PvP-first with extraction layered on top● The missing innovation question○ What is Marathon's true “Bungie leap” beyond sandbox combat + loot?● Overwatch's resurgence○ Systems-driven live ops vs content arms race with Marvel Rivals● The future of shooter ecosystems○ Extraction, hero shooters, and the erosion of “black hole” games

This week on FnA Presents, we're catching up on everything we missed! Life and work got a little crazy last week, but that just means there's a lot to talk about. We kick things off with some Hollywood drama as Shia LaBeouf makes headlines again after his recent Mardi Gras arrest and controversial interview. From there we jump into trailer talk with the brand new Mortal Kombat 2 trailer, which finally looks like it's delivering the tournament fans have been waiting for, and the final season trailer for The Boys, where Homelander might actually be taking over the world.Next we head back to Westeros to talk about the emotional Season 1 finale of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, where Dunk and Egg begin their journey together on the road as hedge knight and squire. On the gaming side of things, Fred may finally be stepping away from the Wasteland after another long run through Fallout 4. Mods, Brotherhood loyalty, destroyed Institutes, and endless settlements… but burnout might finally be setting in. But something else has pulled him back in — ARC Raiders. After a rough experience with sweaty PvP players, some recent changes to the matchmaking system and new enemies have made the game feel fun again. Plus we take a look at Crimson Desert, the upcoming open-world RPG releasing March 19, 2026 that could end up being one of the biggest games of the year. Before wrapping up, we dive into some Marvel news, including updates on Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the latest leaks and rumors surrounding Avengers: Doomsday.Who takes down Homelander? Is Mortal Kombat finally doing the tournament right? Is Fred really done with Fallout… or will the Wasteland pull him back in again?Join us for another episode of FnA Presents. If you enjoyed the episode, make sure to like, follow, and share the show. Makes no sense that so many games have PVE options for those that don't want to strictly play PVP modes.

This podcast was recorded as a live video twitch stream, however, there's a lot of good conversation AND important arc information contained, especially starting at 1 hour, so we wanted to share all of the shenanigans. Enjoy! The stream opens with big “we're back on land” energy and immediately turns into a warm roll call of familiar names, cruise survivors, and chat antics. DJs and Griffin rehash the Star Trek cruise week and the post-cruise meetup, painting it as equal parts community-hug-fest and comedy show, with food, drinks, darts, merch, and a steady drip of lovingly roasted memories. A huge chunk of the early show is basically a victory lap for the community: how many people showed up, how organically Fleet Command seemed to be everywhere on the ship, and how meaningful it was seeing alliance mates traveling together like it's a family reunion with warp cores. There's also peak “DJz life” content in the form of shield-check chaperones (plural), banana-hat signatures, and the reminder that mining plus PvP habits create… opportunities… for raids. They also spend time shouting out behind-the-scenes production and community helpers, including how much one-on-one coaching and tool-sharing happened onboard (the vibe is “Fleet Command office hours… but on a ship”). It's an affectionate nod to the playerbase being the real engine room: people teaching, sharing, solving, and generally keeping the galaxy spinning even when the game tries to throw a wrench into the replicator. Then the stream shifts into “Arcfall Eve briefing” mode: the arc launches tomorrow, maintenance is coming, and the goal is to get viewers pointed in the right direction before reset. They outline how the upcoming loop is structured around rotating tasks and progression gates, with rewards tied to building upgrades and faction-style advancement. In particular, the show highlights that tasks rotate (weekly cadence implied) and that some tasks require specific building levels to even unlock. A key theme in the mid-to-late segment is the “feelings of value” conversation: why rewards may look smaller or more fragmented now, how currencies are spread across systems, and how that impacts player satisfaction even if the total value is “supposed” to be there. They frame it as an intentional design direction, but also validate the frustration and keep the focus on how to navigate the loop efficiently rather than emotionally faceplanting into it. Finally, the stream gets very tactical about the Conqueror Borg Solo Armadas component: they call out specific research nodes that are described as critical for success (including isolated defense, apex shred, and critical damage reduction versus those armadas), and they clarify how the currency path works: earn via the Maverick track, exchange in a faction store flow, and use the resulting particles to unlock the needed research. They close with rapid-fire reminders, a little merch-and-meme spice, and a clean handoff/raid into the overnight coverage pipeline leading into maintenance. 00:00 – Cold open, vibes, “show starts soon” energy and the crew rolls in 10:18 – Post-cruise glow: shoutouts, meetup love, and the chat parade begins 20:36 – Fleet Command community on the ship: how big it felt this year, and why it mattered 30:54 – Shield babysitters, banana hats, and “why not just pop a week-long shield?” 41:12 – Meet-up wrap: crowd surge, venue heat, swag, engravings, and chaos (the fun kind) 51:30 – Bar stories and “Cheaters” lore; the Friday-night detour saga 01:01:48 – Back to business: pivot from cruise stories toward Arcfall Eve “we've got leaks” mode 01:12:06 – Early Arcfall breakdown: what's coming, what to focus, what to ignore (for now) 01:22:24 – Systems/tasks overview: what rotates, what's weekly, and how the loop is expected to behave 01:32:42 – Specialty buildings + progression talk (including early “this should be reachable” math) 01:43:00 – “Feelings of value” discussion: reward spread across currencies and why it feels different 01:53:18 – More arc loop specifics: currencies, shops, and how the grind is meant to translate into upgrades 02:03:36 – The task/research pipeline starts to crystallize: what gates what, and what to prep tonight 02:13:54 – Conqueror Borg Solo Armadas: the must-have research callouts begin 02:24:12 – Currency flow explained: Maverick track → faction store exchange → research particles → nodes 02:34:30 – Practical warnings: don't faceplant into new content without the right research setup 02:44:48 – Continued “how to not waste directives” guidance and tomorrow-proofing your first-day choices 02:55:06 – Final Arcfall Eve reminders: what to watch at maintenance, what to do immediately after reset 03:05:24 – Closing stretch: meme-making, merch chatter, and “Scopely please fix this in the next 3 hours” 03:15:40 – Sign-off + raid plan: handing off to Warp Drive Five and teeing up next-day coverage

The survivors are back with some wild tales for Community Chronicles Vol. 12! This week, we dive into the unpredictable nature of the wasteland, featuring everything from high-tier military base blunders to the absolute madness of the DayZ official servers on console. We start with a heavy hitter as Skeezertron finds himself in Kamensk, only to realize he's bumped into another prominent content creator. What should have been a standard encounter quickly goes sideways, proving that no one is safe in the north! We also follow the story of I Am Withers and his friend G, whose curiosity regarding a mysterious "hole in the wall" led to an investigation that was perhaps a bit too intimate for their own safety. For the newer players, we look at Nate_Dawgg, who successfully navigated all the way to the Tisy Military Base—only to learn the hard way that the environment is just as deadly as the players when you make those classic rookie mistakes. Finally, Sambor brings us a fantastic tale of Console DayZ, showing us exactly how much chaos can be caused by a group of determined freshspawns on official servers.Welcome to the essential channel for all things DayZ! Join Here: https://ow.ly/msoH50WCu0KIn this segment of Notorious Mass Effect, Analytic Dreamz explores Royal Match, the dominant free-to-play match-3 puzzle game from Dream Games, the Istanbul-based powerhouse founded in 2019 by ex-Peak Games executives including CEO Soner Aydemir. Launched globally in early 2021 after a 2020 soft launch, it features King Robert as protagonist in polished, ad-free gameplay where players match 3+ tiles like crowns, coins, and shields to complete objectives—collecting items, breaking obstacles like vases and chains, or clearing paths—across move- or time-limited levels. The core loop includes regenerating lives (5 total), earning stars to decorate and progress the castle meta-layer, and deploying boosters like rockets, TNT, light balls, and hammers earned through combos or purchased. Events such as Sky Race (PvP-style), tournaments, quests, team alliances, streak rewards, card collections, and minigames drive engagement. With over 12,400 levels by late 2025 (expanding biweekly with 100+ new ones every two weeks), progression is endless—no true endgame—demanding thousands of hours, especially for F2P players facing aggressive difficulty scaling and near-miss designs that push impulse buys for extra moves or boosters.Analytic Dreamz breaks down its extraordinary success: 300M–370M+ downloads, lifetime revenue surpassing $5–7B (with $1.3–1.4B in 2024–2025 alone, topping casual/puzzle charts), and ~55M MAU. Dream Games, now valued at ~$5B following a major 2025 CVC Capital Partners investment (providing liquidity to early VCs while founders retain majority control), dominates match-3 IAP revenue share through masterful user acquisition (heavy Apple Search Ads, creative pin-pull campaigns) and retention via live ops—no ads interrupting play.Praised for smooth UX, polish, and uninterrupted experience (4.7/5 store ratings), it faces criticism for paywalls, "rigged" difficulty spikes, Super Hard levels, and misleading ads. A 2024 gambling lawsuit in Washington alleged coin purchases resemble gambling, though no major resolutions noted. Sequel Royal Kingdom (2024) adds PvP and ranked play, already generating hundreds of millions.Join Analytic Dreamz to unpack how Royal Match redefined mobile puzzle dominance through relentless monetization, UA strategy, and live service mastery, turning Dream Games into a top global publisher. Join Here: https://ow.ly/msoH50WCu0KThe latest Notorious Mass Effect segment from Analytic Dreamz delivers a no-holds-barred postmortem on Highguard, the free-to-play PvP raid shooter from Wildlight Entertainment that launched January 26, 2026, only to implode spectacularly. Featuring ex-Respawn talent including Dusty Welch, Jason McCord, Chad Grenier, and Mohammad Alavi, Highguard promised a fresh take on hero shooters with Warden characters raiding mythical continents across PC (Steam), PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.Analytic Dreamz breaks down the brutal stats: an all-time Steam peak of 97,249 concurrent players cratered to a current 7,339 (-92% drop), with a 24-hour peak of just 19,296. Reviews sit at Mostly Negative (35% positive, 32.98% score from 18,000–21,000+ total), driven by massive empty maps in 3v3 matches, excessive mount downtime, bland hero abilities, poor optimization, crashes, Secure Boot/TPM 2.0 barriers, server instability, and matchmaking woes. The episode examines the fatal factors: oversaturated hero-shooter market (Marvel Rivals holding ~160,000 daily players), genre fatigue, radio-silent marketing post-The Game Awards 2025 world premiere (championed by Geoff Keighley, who faced backlash including calls to retire), and a shadowdrop launch echoing Apex Legends 2019—but without polish or clear identity. Analytic Dreamz covers Wildlight's response, including CEO Dusty Welch admitting trailer missteps and taking responsibility, plus Creative Director Jason McCord defending the silence strategy.Additional context includes near-zero Twitch viewership (~53 current, 5,343 24-hour peak), the Dr Disrespect fake preview controversy, and why this mirrors Concord's retention failure but on a faster timeline. This episode unpacks the launch death spiral, mismanaged hype, and slim revival odds in a fact-heavy, in-depth analysis.Tune in to Analytic Dreamz on Notorious Mass Effect for unfiltered gaming insights—subscribe now for more breakdowns on industry highs, lows, and everything in between. Revealed as the closing trailer at The Game Awards 2025 on December 12, 2025, Highguard launches worldwide on January 26, 2026, with servers going live at 10:00 AM PT—no Early Access, full release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Enjoy cross-play and cross-progression from day one.In this segment, Analytic Dreamz breaks down the core gameplay: first-person shooter action as arcane gunslingers called Wardens in a mythical fantasy continent. The loop combines PvP crew battles to secure the Shieldbreaker, followed by intense raid phases to destroy enemy bases, capture territory, and blend futuristic firearms with medieval mounts, character abilities, and partial destructible environments. With only ~6 weeks from reveal to launch, marketing has been minimal—leading to community skepticism, comparisons to Concord's failure, hero shooter fatigue concerns, and questions about live-service longevity. Yet Steam backend activity confirms readiness, and optimism remains around the Respawn veteran team, unique PvP-raid hybrid, and free-to-play model. Vance graduates from rookie hand-holding to level-30 menace, only to discover betrayal, “friendly” strangers, and the sacred art of getting shot in the back during boss fights. Trading is no longer just a financial activity; it has become a spectator sport. In this episode, Threadguy explains how Gen Z's internet-native fluency, built through sneaker markets, NFTs, and meme cycles, translates into a new kind of market intuition: attention, momentum, and mimetics. We delve into “Entertainment Finance,” where perps, prediction markets, and live trading are starting to resemble streaming and esports more closely than Wall Street. Along the way, we explore why “internet capital markets” may pull everything on-chain over time, what happens when every asset becomes content, and why creators and traders will keep pushing into the open frontier. ---
